Summer LITERACY and MATH CampsSummer Literacy and Math camps provide fun activities for your child this summer while supporting the development of important Literacy and Math Skills.

Eligibility: Students enrolled in an Ontario school in Grades 6 to 10 during the 2018-2019 school year are eligible to attend for FREE.1

GRADE 9 Orientation ProgramOur Grade 9 Orientation Program is designed to assist current Grade 8 students with their transition to Grade 9, so they feel more comfortable and confident during their first few weeks of High School.

Students will benefit from:

§ Literacy and numeracy reviews § Introduction to D2L and Office 365 § Study and research tips § Time management and scheduling tips § Team building opportunities § Orientation to the School building

Programs run during the last week of August in most HWDSB Secondary Schools. The program dates and times will vary based on the school your student is attending. Please see our website for details about your School’s program.

International Languages Elementary Program

§ Offers children the opportunity to develop and/or maintain the ability to speak, listen, read and write a new language or the language of their heritage.

§ Enhances students’ connection with their heritage.

§ Improves communication skills in their language of choice.

§ Strengthens cognitive development through the knowledge of an additional language.

§ Provides opportunities to learn and experience another culture.

Important Notes:A $5 per student supply fee will be collected with the registration form. A fee of $115 per course is required for Visa students and visitors and must be paid in advance at the Hill Park Learning Centre. REACH AHEAD Summer Programs

Summer Reach Ahead programs provide Grade 8 students an opportunity to earn a Grade 9 credit by successfully completing four weeks of instruction during the summer and enhances the transition experience for Grade 8 students as they move to Secondary school.

Classes run Monday to Friday beginning July 3 and ending on July 26, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.

SUMMER SCHOOL – Credit (in class and on-line)

Continuing Education is pleased to offer Full Credit courses through our Summer School programs.

New/Full credit courses are offered both in class and on-line starting on July 3 and ending on July 26, 2019. Summer School in-class programs run Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Nora F. Henderson Secondary School. REGISTRATION:

HWDSB Students should make an appointment with their Guidance Counsellor to register starting in April.

Adults and non-HWDSB Students must register in person at the Hill Park Learning Centre, 465 East 16th Street, Hamilton. Please see our website for in person registration dates and additional information.

Please bring your completed registration form ensuring it is signed by your Principal or Guidance Counsellor in advance (if you are a Secondary School student), and proof of citizenship/eligibility (Birth Certificate, Passport, Permanent Resident card etc.) and photo ID.

Visa students registering for credit programs are required to contact the Assessment Centre in advance to pay fees – please call 905-521-2554 to make an appointment with Admissions.
