The second was Creating & Claiming Value in Negotiations, presented by Ann Verbeek, held at and sponsored by Grant Thornton. The third was a Digital Marketing Plan 360 Workshop facilitated by Geoff Kwitko, which was so popular we held another the following month hosted by Ernst Young.

Through these events, the network provided Scholars the chance to engage in a range of high value networking opportunities, and learn from some of the best in their area of specialty.

SponsorsWilliam Buck and Grant Thornton are our major sponsors. Their generous support enabled our Scholars to receive top quality leading edge training without charge, flowing to improved business performance and in turn to a better economy in SA.

Other sponsors include Coriole Vineyards for donating their wonderful wines and Woodside Cheese Wrights for their delicious cheeses.

Leaders are Readers Book ClubOpenbook Howden launched Leaders are Readers for their clients in August 2017. The feedback from participants was really positive.

Sarah Leo from Openbook Howden built a group exclusively for ILF Scholars and the inaugural members are Sarah Cannard, Andrea Mead, Chantale Millard, Stephanie Morris, Jordan Parham and Steve Todd.

Members choose a book from a selection provided by the facilitator, and meet quarterly for a facilitated discussion about the book.

Executive Round TableCommencing in 2016, the executive round table provides half day meetings monthly and three conferences per annum which enable Scholar members to grow and share their abilities.

Committee MembersCommittee member changes during the year include the retirement of four members – Stephanie Morris, Shane Kelly, Steve Todd and Marc Allgrove. We thank them for their time and untiring contribution to the network over the past few years.

We welcomed three new members to the committee this year – Anne Hinton, David Evans and Andrew Kay.

“Asian markets and e-commerce represent an amazing opportunity for Brauer which expects 70 per cent of sales to come from these markets by 2021.Since my return from INSEAD in March 2016, Brauer’s workforce has grown by 50% to 75, mostly at Tanunda and we are investing 12 per cent of sales into R&D, supporting our recent launch of baby and children’s vitamins. We now export to Hong Kong and Vietnam and our $1.3m in China sales in the past two months should put Brauer on a trajectory to double sales this year.“

“As a direct result of my ILF-supported Berkeley program, Seeley has had increased sales from a number of sales and marketing initiatives. Lessons learnt from Berkeley showed us a new direction on managing existing product improvements and a more planned approach to new product launches. I am grateful to the ILF for encouraging me to look at my own development. It was one of the most rewarding experiences for me and for the business.”

HOW THE ILF SUPPORTS APPLICANTS

APPLICATION CLOSING DATE FOR 2018

Employers of choice normally offer meaningful personal development opportunities.

Supporting talented employees to apply for an ILF grant can provide a significant benefit to an employer’s training structure.ILF CEO, Geoff Vogt, will meet employers and their employees to explain and clarify how the ILF grant program operates and how applicants can improve their prospects of submitting a successful application.

In addition, Geoff is happy to address industry functions to explain the ILF in general, and he can arrange for ILF Scholars to speak at functions or to groups of people. This is often very constructive because they can explain the process, their reasons for applying and the benefits from their personal point of view.

Employers are welcome to contact Geoff on 0457 900 202, 8394 0016 or [email protected] to make the appropriate arrangements.
