We have a great program planned for our 2018 Technical Meeting. In addition to long-standing committee meetings and net-working events, several new and reforming technical committees and educational initiatives will take place during the week. Here are just a few of the week’s highlights:

Tuesday, June 5, 6pm – 9pmThe Sprecher Brewery is a Milwaukee institution. Randy Sprecher developed his love for German beers during a tour of service as a Private First Class in Augsburg, Germany. Since then, he has grown the Sprecher Brewery to produce a varieties of beers, hard sodas, ciders, and craft sodas. The evening will include, individualized tours of the brewery facility, authentic German dining experience, tastings of the Sprecher Brewery Products, as well as transportation to and from the hotel.
Advanced registration is required, please see the HI registration desk to confirm if space is available. Bus pick up on 1st floor lobby next to valet. Meet 15 minutes prior to departure.

Foundry, Machining & Engineering Tour: Day in the Life of a CastingTuesday, June 5 Two tours offered: 9:30am – 12pm or 12:30 – 3pmGet a hands-on look at the impeller making process from a leader in the field. HI member, Bad-ger Alloys is a 50-year-old family-owned manufacturing group that specializes in creating impel-lers of all sizes, up to 4,000 pounds. Engineers will guide you through tooling method selection, from hand-crafted traditional patterns to prototypes made on their six-axis robot. Next you will explore the latest technology used for testing and solidification analysis in the casting process. Journeymen will be in production, pouring alloy steels and bronzes into sand molds. Finally, machinists will share examples of the finishing, balancing and keyway cutting processes that enhance pump performance.
Closed-toed shoes are required. Safety goggles will be provided. Advanced registration required, see HI registration desk to confirm space availability Bus pick up on 1st floor lobby next to the valet. Meet 15 minutes prior to departure.

Breakfast Briefing: HI & Technical Affairs Update Wednesday, June 6, 7:30 – 8:30amJoin your meeting colleagues for breakfast and an informative briefing on the state of HI. Listen in while HI leadership shares the latest on HI Technical Affairs and provides an overview of the newly created certification and technical programs sector which includes the Pump Test Lab Approval Program, HI Energy Rating and Pump Systems Assessment Professional Certification.
Intro to HI Committee Roles & Standards Development ProceduresWednesday, June 6, 8:30 – 10amLearn where you can fit into the Hydraulic Institute, how committees are formed and their role in the development of American Nation-al Standards. This is a must-attend session for new participants with HI to learn about how committees function and how standards are developed. For our seasoned veterans this is a good refresher course.
Pump Knowledge Workshop Lunch – Bearing Isolator TechnologyWednesday, June 6 12:00 – 1:30pm (Presentation starts at 12:30)Join this session to learn how bearing isolators extend bearing life and increase MTBR. We will cover the purpose of isolators, varying technologies and how they are applied. PDH credit is available for this session.

Who do I talk to about joining a committee?If you are interested in joining a technical committee, look for a staff member who can be identified by the blue staff ribbon on their name badge.
What should I wear to the conference?• Business casual attire is suggested for all meet-ings. Jackets and/or sweaters are recommended to ensure your comfort in meeting rooms and for outdoor evening events. • If you are attending an outing or tour, please wear suitable attire for the event. • Be sure to wear your attendee badge throughout the conference during networking and all business functions. The badge will also help distinguish you amongst other hotel guests and identify you as a conference attendee.
PDH CreditsPlease sign the “PDH Sign-In Book” located in back of the room where PDH credits are being offered. Certificates are sent by email within 3 weeks following the conference.

Professional Development Hours (PDH)
To receive a certificate of PDH please sign the forms in session room.
The Hydraulic Institute offers the following types of PDH credit:
Florida Board of Professional Engineers*
North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors*
Louisiana Professional Engineering & Land Surveying Board
PDH (Non-state specific certificate of completion)
*You must provide your license number on the sign-in sheet only if you are requesting credit for Florida or North Carolina.
North Carolina licensees: PLEASE NOTE, you must complete a
separate evaluation form, available in sign-in binders.
The following session is eligible for PDH credit:

The acceptance of continuing education (CE) as it applies to fulfillment of state licensing requirements for professional designations is at
the discretion of the individual state licensing boards. It is the responsibility of the individual participant to be knowledgeable about their state requirements before submitting credits for licensing requirements. Links to the state licensing boards for the profession of
