A message from the Principal
At Yeoval Central School we inspire all to be responsible, respectful learners. Working together to achieve and grow.
Welcome back to another exciting term at YCS! I trust you all enjoyed the break, staff and students are ready for another ten weeks of learning.
Over the holidays we ‘Shared our Space’ with the community. It was lovely to see children using our facilities and organising to meet up with their friends.
We welcome Mrs Megan Parker to our learning support team this term. Mrs Parker will be supporting teachers and students as our new School Learning Support Officer.
At the end of last term, we farewelled the class of 2018. We wish Josie, Blake, Mackenzie, Skye, Abigail, Jaide and Ben all the best for their future. Their HSC examinations begin on Thursday this week. Mrs Helen Tremain organised their Farewell Dinner and Farewell Assembly. I thank the P&C, led by Alison Smith for their catering and Ms Natasha Freeth for creating their graduation cake.
It was lovely to see so many parents and caregivers at our annual Sports Assembly. Well done to our House Captains who chaired the assembly and to Mrs Katrina Corinth and Mr Andrew Jones for their organisation.
Mrs Kristie Behan coordinated our NAIDOC Day at the end of the term. Our students learnt a lot more about the Aboriginal culture and sampled some traditional biscuits. The whole school participated in a traditional dance. We thank Uncle Ralph and Uncle Darren for supporting our school.
This term we expect all students to wear their school hats for sun protection. The bucket hats are available from Lowes in Dubbo for $16.95 – let’s teach our children whilst they are young how to care for their skin.

Stage 5 English 2018 has been a full year of writing, analysing, composing and exploring a variety of texts and their impact on our world; from the horrors of ‘The Cove’ to the complexities of Shakespeare, Influential Women and the reality of Dystopian Worlds.
Our focus for this term is Representation and Narrative through Poetry and Music.
At the same time, we will be readying ourselves to tread the boards as we prepare to perform the comedy ‘who dunnit’ play ‘The Real Inspector Hound’ on Thursday 6th December. All members of the class are involved with the performance fitting in learning their lines as well as organising costumes, set design and special effects.
Everyone is invited to the night performance at 7.00pm at the Baptist Church. The P & C will be providing a light supper.
Mrs Helen Johnson
On Tuesday 25 September we recognised NAIDOC Day. We enjoyed a special visit from Uncle Ralph and his grandsons Jye and Landon along with Uncle Darren. Students from K-12 participated in lessons about culture, history, language and storytelling through dance. A whole school assembly was held in the afternoon where Uncle Ralph did the Welcome to Country and acknowledged Year 12 student Blake for his achievements and encouraged him with his future endeavours. Stage 4 LOTE sang 'I am Australian' in both English and Wiradjuri and Tyelia gave a speech about this years' theme 'Because of Her We Can'. We all enjoyed shortbread biscuits made by Miss Freeth using native herbs and spices. An incredible artwork designed by Willa Stokes with assistance from Cheree Stokes was the highlight and all students and staff added their handprint. We thank The Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet for the NAIDOC Day grant that made this all possible.
