ABOUT HSMSCSince 1933, the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County has been providing shelter, food and medical care for thousands of injured, neglected and abused animals. And for just as long, people like you have kept us going.

Thousands of animals are neglected or abused in Memphis and Shelby County each year. Hungry, scared and injured, these animals face a bleak future. That’s where we come in. We are the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.

With support from animal lovers like you, we are able to help prevent and stop animal abuse as well as help injured animals in Memphis and Shelby County. We are able to provide animals with a safe place to recover, nutritious food and outstanding veterinary care. On average, we provide sanctuary to over 100 animals at our facility at any given time, with dozens more placed with foster families until they are ready to be adopted. And we are dedicated to giving these animals a brighter future.

An important part of our work is giving these animals the emotional support, training and socialization abilities that will allow them to be adopted into new and loving homes and long-lasting relationships.

We have been celebrating animals and confronting cruelty since our founding in 1933. From then until today, our funding comes exclusively from private donations from animal lovers like you.

FOSTER CARE over 75 specially selected families caring for animals too young to be adopted, providing a safe place for them until they are ready

BEHAVIOR TRAINING dedicated trainer focused on using positive methods for socializing scared and hurt animals, getting them ready for their forever homes

EDUCATION PROGRAMS over 5,000 children learned how to read animal body language and to be responsible pet owners

PET COMFORT VISITS over 3,500 seniors living in Memphis senior living communities have received comfort and love from our animals

LOW COST VACCINE CLINICS at least 3 events each year for low income residents in the Memphis community

WALK FOR THE ANIMALSThe Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County will be launching its first “Walk for the Animals” in 2018. This is a free, family-friendly event and open to the public. Walkers that raise $100 or more will receive a commemorative Humane Society Walk for the Animals t-shirt. Our animal companions represent unconditional love, joy, security, compassion, and no judgments of human abilities or appearances. The Humane Society Walk for the Animals is an exciting way to support our community, smile, and make new friends – animal & human. Bring your best animal friends and join us for a fun-filled day, starting with a walk. Afterwards, stay around for an animal loving community day of demonstrations, contests, games and more.

Here are some of the ways the animals are helped with your sponsorship ...$250 Microchips for 25 dogs and cats so they will never be lost again

$500 Intake vaccinations and exams for 20 dogs and cats rescued

$1,000 Spay/Neuter surgeries for 40 cats to help end the cycle of homelessness

$2,500 Orthopedic surgeries for 2 dogs to repair a broken limb so they can run and play again

$5,000 Heartworm treatments for 4 dogs to heal broken hearts

IN-KIND SPONSORSWant to donate goods or services for the walk? Sponsorship benefits for in-kind donations will be based upon a 2-to-1 ratio compared with the standard cash sponsorship.

THINGS TO KNOW1. Sponsors are present at the Walk for the purpose of Company promotion.

2. Sponsors do not sell products on Walk Day but are welcome to collect names and promote or solicit on Walk Day and post-Walk.

3. Sponsors agree to have their booth set up by 7:30am on Walk Day and to stay for the duration of the event.

4. Breakdown of sponsor booth cannot commence prior to noon on Walk Day.

5. Sponsors cannot promote items or services that directly con-flict with the mission and practices of the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County.
