Best of the Best: Teachers of the Year Showcase This half day workshop will include teaching ideas and sharing of best practices from SHAPE Florida's Teachers of the Year (TOY). Content will include lessons for elementary, middle, high school and adapted physical education. Presenters: Robert Sinibaldi, Robert Dupler, Beth McKinney, Keith Young, Danny Rendell and Jodi Oberer Magnolia A & B 71. Movement Matters: Activities to get your students moving and grooving! Are you looking for ways to get your students moving as soon as they enter class and continue until they leave? This session will leave you with a toolbox of developmentally appropriate standards-based activities that integrate fitness and fun throughout class. Presenters: Ashley Grimes, Tony Calandra, Emerson Clarke and Luis Ramos Palms EFG 75. Are your students in a Pickle? It’s no big “Dill”! The session will involve teaching the rules of Pickleball, the skills, lead up activities and games. Participants will be actively involved throughout the session. Prizes and giveaways will also be given out to participants. The Amateur Athletic Union’s target populations include k-12, colleges, universities and communities through district workshops, tournaments and National Championships. Online Physical Education Network (OPEN) This activity session will demonstrate a variety of K-12 sport and skill-specific activities from the Online Physical Education Network (OPEN). All activities presented will be directly aligned to Florida’s Standards for Physical Education and will demonstrate how OPEN can assist physical educators teach and assess their state standards with fun and engaging activities. Teaching Racket Skills in Limited Amounts of Space During this presentation, attendees will participate and learn basic racket and paddle skills that can be played indoors and outdoors. Participants will develop skills by using a tennis racket, badminton racket and a paddle along with sponge balls and shuttle cocks. Attendees will participate in a variety of individual, partner and group drills. Innovative and Fun Lead Up Games that may be used in Multiple Sports Innovative and fun lead-up games that may be used in multiple sports. These cognitive yet activity based tasks provide opportunities for students to buddy with a new buddy and the class each week to help grow more confident and socially motivated students.
