BULB CLASSES ANNOUNCED

Thinking about entering the Horticulture classes in the 2018 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show? Why not try your hand at growing these bulbs?

Novice Bulb Classes (Open to anyone who has never won a blue ribbon in the Bulb Classes at the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show prior to 2018.)

Narcissus ‘Topolino’ (Div. 1, Trumpet). Pot: 10" or under.

Any standard Narcissus cultivar except ‘Topolino’. Pot: 10" or under.

Tulipa ‘Negrita’ (Div. 3, Triumph). Pot: 10" or under.

Any Tulipa cultivar except ‘Negrita’. Pot: 10" or under.

Hyacinthus orientalis ‘Gypsy Queen’. Pot: 10" or under.

Any Hippeastrum (Amaryllis); one single-nosed bulb.

Youth Class: Any Hippeastrum (Amaryllis). (Open only to students in 8th grade or under).

General Bulb Classes (Open to all exhibitors, including Novices)

Narcissus ‘Thalia’ (Div. 5, Triandrus). Pot: 10" or under.

Narcissus ‘Golden Dawn’ (Div. 8, Tazetta). Pot: 10" or under.

Narcissus ‘Salome’ (Div. 2, Large-Cupped). Pot: 10" or under.

Any miniature Narcissus (as defined by the American Daffodil Society: http://daffodilusa.org/daffodil-info/special-categories/miniature-daffodils/). Pot: 8" or under. Note: The ADS list changes annually; please check it to make sure your bulb is still classified as a miniature.

Any standard Narcissus cultivar except ‘Thalia’, ‘Golden Dawn’, or ‘Salome’. Pot: 8" or under.

Any standard Narcissus cultivar except ‘Thalia’, ‘Golden Dawn’, or ‘Salome’. Pot: 8"-10".

Tulipa ‘Little Beauty’ (Div. 15, Species). Pot: 10" or under.

Tulipa ‘Salmon Pearl’ (Div. 3, Triumph). Pot: 10" or under.

Tulipa ‘White Emperor’ AKA ‘Purissima’ (Div. 13, Fosteriana). Pot: 10" or under.

Any Tulipa cultivar except ‘Little Beauty’, ‘Salmon Pearl’, or ‘White Emperor’ AKA ‘Purissima’. Pot: 8" or under.

Any Tulipa cultivar except ‘Little Beauty’, ‘Salmon Pearl’, or ‘White Emperor’ AKA ‘Purissima’. Pot: 8"-10".

Crocus. Pot: 6" or under.

Fritillaria. Pot: 8" or under.

Galanthus. Pot: 6" or under.

Hippeastrum cybister (Amaryllis) hybrid, one single-nosed bulb.

Hippeastrum (Amaryllis), hybrid miniature, one single-nosed bulb.

Hippeastrum (Amaryllis), standard single-flowered hybrid, one single-nosed bulb.

Hippeastrum (Amaryllis), standard double-flowered hybrid, one single-nosed bulb.

Hippeastrum (Amaryllis), one bulb with attached offsets.

Hyacinthus orientalis ‘Blue Pearl. Pot: 10" or under.

Hyacinthus orientalis ‘Woodstock’. A single bulb in a clear, colorless glass forcing vase.

Any Hyacinthus except ‘Blue Pearl’ or ‘Woodstock’. Pot: 10" or under.

Ipheion or Tristagma. Pot: 6" or under.

Any Iris reticulata. Pot: 6" or under.

Muscari. Pot: 6" or under.

Trillium. May have more than one rhizome per pot.

Veltheimia. Permitted for this class: Up to three entries of the same species.

Any other hardy bulb(s), corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s). Pot: 6" or under. (Hardy: Plants that can reliably survive outdoor winter conditions in the Greater Philadelphia Region are considered hardy. Entries need not have been grown outdoors.)

Any other hardy bulb(s), corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s). Pot: 6"-10".

Any other non-hardy bulb(s), corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s); no Clivia. Pot: 6" or under.

Any other non-hardy bulb(s), corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s); no Clivia. Pot: 6"-12".

Bulb Garden—Any combination of bulbs, arranged for artistic and horticultural excellence in a pot 12" or under.

Rock garden bulb(s) in bloom. Pot: 6" or under.

Rock garden corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s) in bloom; no cactus or other succulent. Pot: 6" or under.

Note: All these bulbs must be grown and shown in pots of the size (inside diameter) specified. You may use bulb pans, azalea pots, or standard pots for all bulb classes.
