4. Elegibility
• Only 14 years (or older) athletes on 31 December of 2018 are
eligible to enter; • Athletes with a physical, visual or intellectual impairment, with
international classification (review or confirmed class status) can compete;
• In order to have the results recognised for international rankings,
athletes shall be licensed for the season.
5. International Classification
• The classification will follow the policies and procedures from the World Para Swimming Classification Rules and Regulations.
• PI Classification: 23 to 25 April
• VI Classification: 24 and 25 April • II Classification: TBC
• Athletes that hold an international class and their status are review (R) and review with a fixed date for 2018 (R2018), once they are entered, they can be scheduled to the classification agenda.
• Additionally, for classification observation purposes the athletes have to:
o Be entered in a minimum one 100m S event (Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly) ando n 100m SM event (Breaststroke) – swimmers with a physical impairment only.
o Be in 200m Freestyle or 100m Backstroke and 100m
Breaststroke (swimmers with an intellectual
impairment only)

7. Competition Rules and Format
• Once the entries are closed (and the payment done), following
the rules and regulations of the World Para Swimming (WPS), it is not possible any withdrawal. Therefore, there will be no
reimbursment. If an athlete does not attend an event:
• He/she will not be allowed to compete in further events he/she
was entered, unless the payment of 100 BRL has been done. That fee is charged by each missed event. The payment shall
be made at the TIC within at least 30 minutes to the next event he/she will compete;
• If an injury/medical matter does not allow the athlete to
compete, he/she should present at the Medical Delegate (medical tent) for an evaluation and potential medical
withdrawal form. This form should be submitted within 30 minutes to the event he/she is withdrawing.
• The competition will be held accordingly to the 2018 – 2021
WPS Rules and Regulations, with some speficific regulations:
PROTESTS
• Results or technical protests shall be submitted at the TIC, in a specific form within 30 minutes after the results have been posted, following the WPS rules. The team that is submitting
the protest will be informed as soon as the decision is taken. • The onus is exclusive to the team that is calling the protest.
• After the 30 minutes, there will be no right to protest. • For each results or technical protest, a fee of 200 BRL is
chraged, amount that shall be given to the TIC besides the
form. If the protest is accepted by the Judge or Technical Delegate, the amount will be given back.
TECHNICAL COMPETITION INDEX
The Swimming technical competition index (ITC, in Portuguese) is the simple average as follows:
MRKM representes the average of all results from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the WPS World Ranking (combined rankings from 2013 to 2017), exported on 1 January 2018.
RM representes the World Record exported on 01 January 2018

Obs: formule “(MRKM+RM)/2” by event/class
- In case of there is no World Record on WPS website for any of those events, the formule (RMKM) will be used.
- The technical index (ITC) will be calculated with the results from each athlete´s class, and the same will happen with the records and rankings, that will be recognised accordingly to the athlete´s class.
COMPETITION FORMAT
• The 2018 LOTERIAS CAIXA SWIMMING OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
will be held in six (06) sessions as follow:
o Three (03) eliminatory sessions seeding by time;
o Three (03) multiclass final sessions seeding by ITC
- The best eight (08) athletes, with highest ITC achieved in the
events during the eliminatory sessions will be classified to the Final A. The follow eight (08) will be allocated to Final B;
- Athletes in 17th and 18th places in each event will be named as reserves and should be at the call room at the same time of the other classified athletes to that final.
- In order to open a Final A, it will be required at least five (05) athletes entered and a minimum of thirteen (13) to open a Final B.
- In case of any athlete classified to the finals withdraw, he/she must present the withdrawal form at the TIC within 30 minutes from the results posting.
- After the results have been posted, in case of a disqualification, this slot will be opened for the next classified athlete (“reserve”).
- After any opened final, the event will be held, independently of how many athletes will do compete. If the number does not
achieve three (03) athletes, the minus one rule will be applied for medals. • In order to a relay event be opened, it is required that a
minimum of three (03) teams: o In case of three teams, the minus one rule will be applied
for medals; Awards
• During the eliminatory, the first three athletes from each class,
will be awarded with medals, independentlyof how many athletes were entered;
• At the final sessions, the first three athletes of each event will
be awarded with trophy; • For relay events, the first three teams will be awarded;

• MQS: results that are shown in the World Para Swimming international ranking.
11. Antidoping Control
• There will be antidoping control, following the international procedures from IPC and WADA.
12. Results and Information
• The 2018 Loterias Caixa Swimming Open is a WPS approved
competition. Only athletes internationally classified with confirmed (C) or review (R) status, and licensed for 2018, in order to have their results recognised for rankings.
• The official results and more information related to the competition will be available on the official website.
13. Official hotel and meals
• The LOC will offer some hotels with special deals to the
participants. All the contact and payments should be made directly by the teams.

14. Transport
• There will be transfer services from the airport to the official hotels.
The itineraries should be sent by 12 April 2018.
