N aonal expert Diana Sco, Sr. Director, Vizient, will present CHA’s annual full-day program outlining The Joint Commission’s new standards and naonal paent safety goals for 2018, and challenges from 2017 with strategies for compliance. Ms. Sco will also review survey process changes, paent safety and Sennel Event alerts and ps, and CMS focus areas, as well as best pracces for a successful survey. CHA is also pleased to have Mark A. Craſton, MPA, MT(ASCP), Execuve Director of State & External Relaons, at The Joint Commission (TJC), and Jennifer M. Hoppe, MPH, Senior Associate Director, State and External Relaons at TJC, join the program. Their presentaons will include an overview of the new process for surveyors to determine the severity of non-compliance with all accreditaon and cerficaon requirements, and a new report format that will more clearly illustrate priority issues impacng paent safety. Mark Crafton, MPA, MT (ASCP), is the Executive Director of Communications and External Relations for TJC. Mr. Crafton oversees all Joint Commission activities related to communications, corporate marketing, market research, and state relations. Before joining TJC, Mr. Crafton was senior director of advocacy for the Michigan Health and Hospital Association.

Jennifer Hoppe is the Senior Associate Director of State and External Relations, within the Division of Business Development, Government & External Relations for The Joint Commission (TJC). In this role, she acts as liaison with state regulatory agencies to monitor information about the status and substance of state legislation related to quality and patient safety and the payor community regarding their reliance on the accreditation process used in the provider contracting process. She also works with both state and federal healthcare associations.
