Welcome to the autumn season at two of Hull’s prestigious venues - Hull City Hall and Hull New Theatre. This exciting season marks the one year anniversary since Hull New Theatre’s impressive re-opening following major refurbishment on 16th September and we are delighted to once again showcase the theatre’s incredible transformation and present a world class programme of events for all to enjoy. Some of this season’s must-see shows include John Godber’s sequel to last year’s new production ‘The Kings of Hull’, visits from critically acclaimed Opera North and Northern Ballet alongside award winning musicals including ‘Benidorm’ and ‘Calendar Girls’.

Complimenting this, December 1st is a key milestone for Hull City Hall as this marks the 70th anniversary since the grand re-opening by the Duke of Edinburgh after the Second World War. As part of the celebrations the programme of events reflects high quality entertainment at its best including live music, headline comedy, classical concerts and more.

We look forward to welcoming you all to another excellent season.

WELCOME

It’s clearly Ross coming up with a name for his show, so he can make out like he is some sort of mysterious shadowy figure.Ok I get it.Book now to see the one they call El Hablador* *Ross is the only one that calls himself El Hablador.

Hull. 1965. Five young women from Hull decide to start a girl band. Within months they are touring the local pubs and clubs and are soon asked to play for the US Troops in Germany. However, it’s soon clear the troops are more interested in the length of their skirts and if these girls want success they will have to bite their tongues and learn to live with it. It’s Different For Girls is a brand new musical inspired by Hull’s own 1960s girl band, Mandy & The Girlfriends, that documents the journey of five young women as they challenge the music industry and prove that they are not just ‘good for girls’.

With organ music played by Donald McKenzie. Erik (The Phantom) is up from the dungeons again! The phantom menace of the Paris Opera is back to terrorise the patrons and staff at the house. In one of his most famous roles, Lon Chaney (Snr) plays the Phantom with a stellar cast of the silent screen to support him. Christine Daaé played by Mary Philbim, is the object of Erik’s obsession and he stops at nothing for her to succeed and for her to be his possession. The love triangle is complete with Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny played by Norman Kerry, who is the true love of Christine. Chaney took care of his own make-up and he spent hours before shooting to contort his face so he could be The Phantom of the Opera. The results, as you will see, are spectacular in this 1925 classic of the silent screen.
