Keynote Address: The Industrial Tsunami Coming Your Way 8:45 - 9:45 a.m.

John Ratzenberger Ryman BallroomThanks to the generosity of Kohler Power Systems, we are able to bring John Ratzenberger to Nashville. Most of you will remember him from the loveable role he played in the television sitcom Cheers as mail carrier, Cliff Clavin. Some of our younger members, or those with kids, might know John as the voice of several Pixar animated characters. Known as Pixar’s Good Luck Charm, John has voiced a character in every Pixar film starting with Hamm the Pig in Toy Story to this summer’s release of the Incredibles 2, where he plays the Underminer.

So you may be asking, “How is Cliff Clavin going to help me in power generation?” Great question! Since climbing off the barstool at Cheers more than 25 years ago, John has become Hollywood’s most outspoken advocate for American manufacturing. Last October, John was appointed to the President’s Task Force on Apprenticeship Expansion whose mission is to identify strategies and proposals to promote apprenticeships, especially in sectors where apprenticeship programs are insufficient. He speaks to groups across the country about eliminating the stigma around the trades while providing much-needed training opportunities for students, returning veterans and out of work Americans.

A Conversation with FEMA 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.

Jeffrey Dorko -,Asst. Manager for Logistics - Office of Response and Recovery Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Ryman BallroomWith a public service career spanning more than 35 years, Jeffrey has served in key lead-ership positions worldwide and completed his military service as a Major General.

FEMA’s Logistics Directorate is working to find new ways to enable the timely and effec-tive restoration of private sector supply chains, commercial services and businesses affected by disasters. Power restoration may well be the most critical first step in getting disaster survivors and the impacted area on the road to normal after a terrible experience. The EGSA 2018 Fall Conference represents a unique and critically important opportunity to open a dialog between the on-site power industry and FEMA’s resource and logistics responders to improve our collec-tive service to disaster survivors in their hour of greatest need.

Rudolph’s Virtues: Environmental Impact & How Big is Your Climate 11:00 - 11:45 a.m.

Jim McDonald, PowerSecure, Inc. Ryman BallroomTier IV was introduced to the EGSA membership in 2006. If you follow the path of “Clean Coal” you will see a dangerous precedent and narrative of half-heartedly embracing ‘green’ while surmising that your industry is invincible, when in actuality Pollution controls is just what might save the Diesel Engine!

Rudolph Diesel’s altruistic intents, the unique qualities of today’s diesel engine and the antiq-uity of our grid all prove the point. What will EGSA’s impact be with regards to promoting and leverag-ing the diesel engine’s unique role in modernizing the aging grid infrastructure of the United States?

Welcome Lunch 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

De-escalating Conflict in Any Work Setting 8:30 - 9:35 a.m.

Ret. Lieutenant Raymond Hasset Ryman BallroomMore than 850 companies make up the Electrical Generating Systems Association, representing tens of thousands of employees that range from c-level executives to end-users of the industry. Al-though our members’ day-to-day scope of work may vary greatly, we

should all strive for the highest level of professionalism and performance. However, there will undoubtedly be challenging issues – especially when servicing on-site power systems – where conflict can arise.

Whether you’re working in sales, customer service, management or visiting a client face-to-face, you’re going to experience some kind of conflict. How you deal with that disconnect can impact your bottom line in productivity, client-retention and brand reputation.

Be prepared to leave Ray’s presentation with real tools on how to de-es-calate any situation – from internal conflict in the workplace, to disagree-ments with outside resources to boots-on-the-ground service technicians who are your face and brand to your customers.

Ray teaches De-escalation/Connecting Techniques to police departments, foreign embassies, corporations, schools and associations with one very real directive: the bottom line in any conflict is to get out of it with everyone feeling heard, respected and responded to so all parties can move on.

Remote Monitoring for the On-Site Power Industry Panel 10:30 - 11:45 a.m.

Moderated by Andy Briggs, Power Telematics, Inc. Ryman Ballroom

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a major driving force for most industries, including the On-Site Power industry.

Generator manufacturers and service organizations are embracing emerging tech-nology and incorporating remote monitoring solutions into their equipment and ser-vice operations. This allows for access to the status of each customer’s generators, provides service companies and generator owners with automatic alert notifications, provides history and performance tracking and many other benefits.

The primary goal of generator monitoring is to improve reliability and performance to help ensure that the generator system will work properly when needed. The resulting benefit is that everyone wins...the generator owner, the service provider and the generator brand.

Technology is changing our industry, how we provide service, and how we meet and exceed the 21st century expectations of our customers. Join us for this exciting panel of experts on the subject from the manufacturers’ point of view!

Networking The Annual EGSA Fall Conference fosters a great environment for networking. Each of our networking events is designed to create new business relation-ships and fortify existing connections in a relaxed, informal environment.

Honky Tonk Scavenger Hunt & Pub CrawlWe pulled out all of the stops when it came to deciding what our third activity would be for Nashville. Get ready for a networking excursion that is truly unique!

First, pick up your box lunch and board our luxury motor coach for a quick ride downtown with your closest EGSA colleagues! This 3-hour scavenger hunt will bring you down Broadway while you search for some unique items with your team.

Each EGSA scavenger hunt team will have to follow the clues provided, allowing them to see all the major sights downtown. Just to keep you on your toes, there are also clues to gathering stops (5).

When a team completes a bar stop they receive a stamp in their passport. Each team is also timed, so when all teams have made it to the finish line, points are tallied and the team with the most points with the shortest time wins! There will be (9) photo stops along the way, so be sure to show your team spirit!

This tour also includes a few perks, including a team backpack for each participant in their team color, as well as the winners of the scavenger hunt will each get a very special prize. Don’t miss the opportunity for a little friendly competition, sightseeing and networking all rolled into one!

The cost of this tour is $135.*

Transportation and lunch are included.

If you are registered for this tour, please meet at the Delta Portico of the hotel no later than 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

Golf TournamentGet Ready for another EGSA Golf Tournament! Located 5 minutes from Gaylord Opryland Resort, Gaylord Springs Golf Links has consistently been recognized among GolfWeek’s best courses you can play in Ten-nessee.

Gaylord Springs, designed by US Open and PGA cham-pion Larry Nelson, offers challenges for golfers of any skill level. The links-style course demands accuracy to stay clear of the deep bunkers, water hazards and rolling grass mounds but also requires creativity and a soft touch around the undulating, MiniVerde Bermuda grass greens.

Carved from the banks of the meandering Cumberland River, our Scottish links-style, par-72 layout offers 18 holes bordered by limestone bluffs and wetlands. With challenges around every fairway bend, Gaylord Springs forces you to think and react, creating a satisfying finish every time a flag is pulled from the cup.

The cost of this tournament is $165.*

Includes boxed lunch.

Rental Clubs $65.

One Mulligan $5.

Three Mulligans $12.

Golfers are responsible for their own transportation to/from the golf course. Please pick up your boxed lunch at 12:15 p.m. at the Magnolia Portico of the hotel. The tournament tee time is 1:30 p.m. sharp.

*Networking Events are not included in your registration fee. You must pre-register and pay an additional fee to participate.

Fishing TournamentPercy Priest Lake is a 42-mile long 14,000 acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake created by the J. Percy Priest Dam which was completed in 1968. The lake was named in honor of Congressman J. Percy Priest. With its convenient location, a short 15 minute drive from downtown Nashville, Percy Priest Lake offers numer-ous fishing opportunities throughout the lake. Fishing tournaments are often held at the lake during summer months. Twenty fish attractor locations have been added to the lake and are maintained by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. A valid Tennessee fishing license is required for all fishermen.

The cost of this tournament is $200.*

Includes a boxed lunch and transportation to the tournament site.

If you are registered for this tour, please meet at the Delta Portico of the hotel no later than 12:15 p.m.

Old Hickory Lock & Dam Gearhead TourThe Old Hickory Lock opened to navigation traffic in June 1954. The lock chamber is 397 feet long and 84 feet wide. During normal lake levels, the lock will lift a boat 60 feet from the river below the dam to the lake above the dam. The lock releases over 15 million gallons of water each time is emptied.

Named after President Andrew Jackson (our 7th Presi-dent), the Lock was named “Old Hickory” just like Jack-son’s nickname, because of his toughness and brash personality. Orphaned at age 14, Jackson’s toughness and intelligence saw him through tough times in the wil-derness of the Southwest Territory, an area that would eventually become Tennessee.

For each attendee on the tour to participate, the U.S. Corps of Engineers advised that each must:

1. Wear closed toed shoes

2. Bring the conference name badge to serve as a name tag

3. Bring driver’s license or other form of government issued ID.

The tour cost $30.* Includes boxed lunch.

If you are registered for the Gearhead Tour, please pick up your boxed lunch in the Delta Portico of the hotel at 12:15 p.m. prior to boarding your bus. Wheels roll promptly at 12:30 p.m.
