Master of Ceremonies and Special Guests

A Japanese cosmic pop duo formed on Christmas day in 2016. Dr. Sushiyakko (Suzuko Hori) is a breast cancer survivor and she plays trombone with Mr. Sushi (Soushi Kubota), who plays vibraphone. Sushi Planet declares that they will provide some happy music for sushi, of sushi, by sushi.

A Boston-based “Artist-in-Progress” and Community Builder. She spent over a decade writing, recording, and performing as a singer-songwriter and currently spends her time painting and experimenting with ink and watercolor at Essem Art Studio. Sophia’s creative aspiration is to fuse her passions in music and art into a unique project in the coming months and years. Sophia is the current host of CreativeMornings/Boston, a free monthly breakfast lecture series for creatives; and she is a very happy and loving wife and mom.

Co-Founder of Visionary Steps Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit that offers funding and resources to foster the development and education of amateur athletes in competitive ballroom dancing. Earlier in her career, Audrey worked in board relations at WGBH, Boston’s public broadcasting station, where she continues to volunteer her time as on-air talent. Audrey supports several nonprofit organizations with missions that promote diversity and the empowerment of young girls and women. She is a proud alumna of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and has been the emcee for CelebrASIANS for the past four years.

Welcome from the Co-Chairs

Dear AWFH partners and friends, We are honored to be co-chairing the annual benefit fashion show “CelebrAsians” for Asian Women for Health (AWFH).

AWFH is building on the success of the Asian Breast Cancer Project and expanding to become the one and only peer-driven, community-based organization in New England dedicated to advancing Asian women’s health and wellness through education, advocacy and support.

This benefit fashion show is one example of how AWFH is finding innovative ways to engage, empower and enable Asian women. Ten Asian cancer/trauma survivors will share their inspiring stories and aspirations as they model and showcase the creations of leading Asian designers.

As co-chairs, we have witnessed the impact of AWFH at a personal and professional level since its inception in 2012. The work of AWFH is crucial to improving access and service delivery for underserved and at-risk Asian women, and has mobilized hundreds of community members, providers and policy makers. We can’t wait for you to experience the power of AWFH with us.

Designer Profiles

is a Boston based designer who specializes in both Womenswear and Menswear fashion. Janfrevic was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the United States at the age of 14. His diverse background and strong Filipino family upbringing inspires his work and is incorporated into his personal designs. Janfrevic holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in FashionDesign from Massachusetts College of Arts and Design. Today he is working as a full time Textile CAD artist and also designs and constructs custom women’s and men’s clothing in his spare time.

was born and raised in Lynn, MA and went to college in Boston, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design at Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Her family immigrated from Cambodia in the late 1980’s. As a first generation American, she was fascinated with her beautiful heritage and by the stories her father had told her as a child. Inspired from her background, Davey began to follow her passion in design and found it to be challenging though very rewarding. She specializes in Womenswear and Menswear, and currently works as an Associate Designer for Blauer Manufacturer.

believe that clothes are art - a harmony of beauty, practicality, and sustainability. Clothes reflect our uniqueness, they subtly communicate beauty, thoughtfulness and our distinct ideas to the world. PSD likes healthy materials and strives for a zero-waste approach. 10%-15% of our sales have been consistently used to support the arts, education, and drug and violence prevention programs in the US and Southeast Asia.

We design and make our clothes in Boston, MA, in Fort Point, the oldest and largest artist community in the northeast. Our studio and showroom is housed in a redeemed wool warehouse, and is only a few minutes from South Station, Chinatown, and the Financial District. Our studio is also in our home, where we often entertain family and friends.

is an oncology and palliative care nurse practitioner who has devoted her 40 years in nursing caring for adults with cancer and complex medical issues. She holds a BSN from Boston University and an MS from Boston College in adult primary care nursing. She is currently the Cancer Nursing Program Manager and NP in thoracic oncology program Tufts Medical Center’s Cancer Center and previously worked at both DFCI and MGH Cancer Centers. She has served on the Oncology Nursing Certification board for six years, the last two as President of the Board. She is a compassionate expert practitioner who is humbled by her daily work in helping patients navigate their individual journeys throughout their cancer illness experience, with a special devotion to her Asian patients and their families.
