October— A woman and her twokids from Bishop, CA spend thenight in the car because she cannot afford a hotel room while herhusband is in the Intensive CareUnit. November 8— Veterans HospitalFoundation is incorporated toensure will someone supporting a veteranneed to sleep in their car.
1991
"Never Again On Our Watch"
1994December 14- Our first guest iswelcomed providing a safe, warmplace to sleep at night. The homeis known as the Spouse House.
2000December—The Board of Directorsapproves a name change to betterreflect the expanded scope ofservice. The Veterans HospitalFoundation becomes VeteransGuest House, Inc.
2004November— A new 12 bed home isopened.
2012January—The existing home is fullyear round. A second house locatedadjacent to the existing one isopened with 5 beds bringing thetotal beds to 17.
2016December— Occupancy numbersexceed 5,500 guest nights. TheBoard of Directors approves thenext expansion project.
2017August 21— Construction beginson the expansion.
August 15— The expandedVeterans Guest House opens andwelcomes the 1st guests. Theexisting 12-bed house and new 21-bed house are connected bringingthe total square footage to 16,000.
