Purpose. It is what defines us. It is the reason for which something is done, created, or exists. Simply stated, the purpose of the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce is to engage with our member businesses, to advocate for their success, and to enhance this incredible, thriving Greater Beloit Community of which we are all a part.

Through the completion of our new strategic plan in 2018, the GBCC has become more focused on our purpose and direction. We continue to develop programs and services for our member businesses based on our Core Values:

LEADERSHIP: We will assess issues critical to our business members and determine when to lend our voice and leadership

RESPONSIVENESS: We are creative in delivering value to our members. We capitalize on trends, challenges, and opportunities that arise.

INCLUSIVENESS: We are comprised of members from different industries.

COLLABORATION: We build mutually advantageous relationships within the Greater Beloit business community and with our Vision Partners to better serve, support, and advocate for our members. We are willing to share knowledge and ideas with others.

EDUCATION: We value the key role education contributes to the success of our member businesses. We collaborate with our Chamber members and area experts to offer a variety of work-related education and leadership development opportunities.

This past year represented our 92nd year being a part of this great community, while carrying out the privilege of working with thriving businesses and promoting community services to our members. We continue to grow in both membership and staff, which allows us to continue to carry out our purpose.

We developed and debuted a brand-new website full of resources about and for our membership. Following our strategic plan, we’ve restructured our internal committees to better reflect our mission and help us more readily achieve our goals. We’ve created a new marketing plan to make sure we are effectively communicating this vision far and wide.

Our purpose is our members and our community. We thank all of our members, community partners, volunteers and supporters as we look forward to continuing to build a strong membership, while being a responsive, influential, and respected leader in the Greater Beloit area.

BUSINESS-EDUCATION Works with educational and workforce development agencies to enhance and develop programs designed to build a skilled, well-educated and professional labor force.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS ADVISORY Community advisory council responsible for identifying and advocating for business interests to local governments.

MEMBERSHIP Helps staff answer questions related to membership. evaluate new and existing programs and benefits, develop marketing materials, and find ways to articulate and add value to membership.

MARKETING Sets the vision for and manages the overall GBCC marketing strategy, setting priorities and making budget recommendations.

EVENTS & PROGRAMS Plans and executes events that include the Annual Dinner, Golf Classic, and Taste.

FINANCE Reviews GBCC financial reports, assists in budget preparation, reviews audit/review results, and helps to make any other major financial decisions.

BOARD OF GOVERNANCE Responsible for the foundational elements of a successful Board Governance strategy including: recruitment and onboarding of new Board members, maintaining a high-performance level of results from each member, and develop and deliver board policies.

COMMUNITY CONCIERGEThe program was designed to work with local companies to assist the recruitment effort and encourage relocation by showcasing what the Greater Beloit Area has to offer. Tours increased from 43 in 2017 to 58 in 2018. The current concierge is Verena Jones, who went through the program and relocated to Beloit from northern New York in 2017. The concierge services helped her family to finalize the decision to move and eased the transition. To obtain a copy of the Community Concierge press kit, please contact Verena.
