The processes listed below should be followed for the VET programs being offered in the

Frankston, Mornington Peninsula region for 2018.

Applications for Chisholm Institute should be made directly via the Chisholm web portal by

the school VET Coordinator.

Applications for all other VET program offered by private Registered Training Organisations

(RTO’s) should be via those organisations directly.

Key Steps:

1. Complete the application form attached to this booklet and send by

email or post to the contact person listed for the relevant program.

2. Payment of an application deposit may be required by your own

school.

3. The initial closing date for applications is Tuesday 31 October, 2017.

Early applications are encouraged.

4. The application form is not a guaranteed enrolment. Once classes are

finalised each student may need to complete an additional enrolment

document as required by the relevant RTO’s or TAFE.

5. There may be vacancies after the initial deadline but that will be

dependent on numbers.

To the best of our knowledge the information provided is correct, however, if you can

Description: The aim of the course is to provide the skills, knowledge and attitudes

for training in acting for film and television. The course has been

written to create career opportunities for peripheral creative industries.

This course is a mixture of hands on learning against theory delivered in

a different learning environment to VCE. The course structure dictates

practical filming lessons alternating against theory lessons.

Contribution to the VCE/VCAL:

On completion of the program students are eligible for four credits

towards their VCE, two at Unit1-2 level and a Unit 3-4 sequence.

Students who successfully complete the Unit 3-4 sequence will be

eligible for a 10% increment towards their ATAR.

The focus is on rehearsing and performing scripts, performance in front of camera,

screen tests, rehearsing, filming scenes and styles, protocols and knowledge of the

film and TV industry and camera technique. Students elect one unit to explore from

make-up design, audition and select performers, directing, presenting and media

& screen expertise.

What to bring:

Students are required to bring 1 x A4 binder notebook, pens and highlighters. Students are

issued with a memory card and card reader along with software. This is designed to

students can view their progress and undertake self-critique. The card is returned at the

end of the course. The software is to be installed on a PC, or with MAC computers having

the ability to play the footage automatically through iMovie or Quicktime. Students are

required to bring the memory card to every filming.

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

It is planned to provide students with exposure to a work environment through organised

visits, industry speakers and performers and involvement in performances such as school

productions.

Description: Certificate II in Agriculture is an introductory course that prepares

students for work in the Agriculture industry. The course aims to provide

students with knowledge and skills in a range of basic agricultural

practices, including aspects of plant production.

Contribution to the VCE/VCAL:

On completion of the program students are eligible for four credits

towards their VCE, two at Units 1-2 level and a Unit 3-4 sequence.

Students who successfully complete the Unit 3-4 sequence will be

eligible for a 10% increment towards their ATAR.

Description: VET in schools multiplies opportunities for

students. It enables students to complete a

nationally recognised vocational qualification

as well as contribute towards their VCE or VCAL Certificate. Classroom

learning is combined with structured hands-on training and practice in

industry. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge

and skills to achieve competencies that will enhance their

employment prospects in the agricultural industry and to gain a

recognised credential and make a more informed choice regarding

further education and career paths.

Contribution to the VCE/VCAL:

On completion of the program students are eligible for four credits

towards their VCE, two at Units 1-2 level and a Unit 3-4 sequence.

Students who successfully complete the Unit 3-4 sequence will be

learning, which contributes to the completion of the competency. “Work in the animal

care industry”, and provides an opportunity to demonstrate competencies acquired off

the job. During this time students will be required to complete work place activities.

Description: The aim of the course is to provide the basic skills

and knowledge to become an animal carer. It will assist the student in

making an informed decision as to whether or not to pursue a career

within the animal industry.

Contribution to the VCE/VCAL:

On completion of the program students are eligible for four credits

towards their VCE, two at Unit1-2 level and a Unit 3-4 sequence.

Students who successfully complete the Unit 3-4 sequence will be

eligible for a 10% increment towards their ATAR.

tetanus vaccinations. Students interested in enrolling in this course

MUST attend an orientation afternoon in the year proceeding.

This course requires students to undertake 80 hours of Structured

Workplace Learning, 40 hours each year. This provides the

opportunity for students to demonstrate competencies acquired

on-the-job.

Students undertaking this course are required to fulfil an industry

specific workplace learning, which contributes to the completion of

the competency “Work in the animal care industry”, and provides

an opportunity to demonstrate competencies acquired off the job.

During this time students will be required to complete work place

Description: This qualification will provide students with a sound knowledge of the

marine environment of Port Phillip Bay. The Scuba Diving certificates

will be completed through Dive Line, Victoria. Students will learn to

Scuba dive to 30m, maintain equipment, perform basic water rescues

and navigation skills. Students will also learn necessary skills to become

a snorkel guide. This program is the entry level certification towards

becoming a scuba dive professional (Dive Master). The program will

be conducted in the class room, with pool sessions at a local pool and

open water sessions conducted in a pool in Frankston and at Portsea.

All necessary equipment will be provided, but it is recommended that

the student purchase their own mask, snorkel and fins.

Description: This course has been designed to meet employment opportunities and

provide credit transfer into Certificate III in Events and Diploma

programs in Tourism, Hospitality and Events.

Contribution to the VCE/VCAL:

On completion of the program students are eligible for four credits

towards their VCE, two at Unit1-2 level and a Unit 3-4 sequence.

Students who successfully complete the Unit 3-4 sequence will be

eligible for a 10% increment towards their ATAR.

Contribution to the ATAR is based on the student’s individual

program and should be discussed with your VET Coordinator.

Description: This course will prepare the student for further study in all visual and

creative art fields. The course concentrates on creative thinking,

drawing techniques including life drawing, and observational drawing,

print making, intaglio and relief, painting, oil and acrylic, stretcher and

surface preparation, sculpture, exploration of many different mediums.

All teachers within this course are practising artists that bring years of

creative thinking and practice to the classroom.

Contribution to the VCE/VCAL:

Confirmation will need to be obtained of VCE/VCAL credit from

Chisholm Institute as changes to the course have been updated for
