It’s almost time to celebrate the adventures of Scouting at the legendary 2017 National Jamboree.

Scouts nationwide and internationally will pack their bags and come together at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, for the Boy Scouts of America’s flagship event that happens just once every four years. It’s that big.

They’ll partake in ultimate extreme-sports adventures, learn new skills, discover strengths they didn’t know they had, build and create things, and rock out during the most epic stadium show they’ve ever seen.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING

2017 Marks the 18th

National JamboreeIn 1937, one of the first original National Scout Commissioners, Dan Beard, lit the opening campfire that would kick-off the very first Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree. Held mess-hall style in Washington, DC., nearly 30,000 Scouts and Scouters attended what would become one of the cornerstone experiences inthe Boy Scouts of America today.

To a Scout, that very first smell of flint and steel signifies that they’re about to become a part of something. Something big. Something so big, in fact, that they’ll carry it with them for the rest of their life.

ABOUT THE SUMMIT BECHTEL RESERVE

10,600 acres | Mount Hope, WV | New River Gorge National River

Opened in 2013, the Summit is a high-octane destination in the mountains of West Virginia adjoining the New River Gorge National River, where Scouts nationwide come to discover what they’re made of, conquer their fears, and explore new adventures. It’s the BSA’s newest, and most extreme, premier high-adventure property.

With tens of thousands of acres, there’s no wonder it’s the permanent new home of the 2017 National Jamboree.

For one day during the National Jamboree, each Scout will participate in a day of service. It’s what we do. Pitching in and helping—it’s in our blood.

Service projects bring Scouts together in a huge way. Ask anyone who’s been part of a really big, meaningful project. Or a really small, meaningful project. The jambo is going to be—no exaggeration—a life-changing experience. Service goes hand-in-hand with that. They’re also a blast.

We’ll customize a strategy that allows you to align with and promote both your brand and this extremely important day in a way that will touch every Scout that attends the 2017 National Jamboree. The supplies we use directly influence the delivery of our programs and offer brands an opportunity to be a part of the memorable experiences Scouting provides.

Did you recently go shopping and purchase supplies for a big party you were hosting? Multiply that by about a million and picture our shopping list. With tens of thousands of youth to serve over the course of ten days, you can imagine the “things” we need to host a successful jamboree.

Though a large crux of the Summit is a heightened awareness and implementation of sustainability practices, we understand that sampling is a valuable opportunity for brands and also increases the user experience. The following areas will have opportunities for sampling.

Fact. Scouts get sick, injured, dehydrated, and all sorts of not-really-fun things. So do the volunteers, day visitors, and staff. In the spirit of the BSA’s motto, “Be Prepared,” we’ll have First Aid stations set up within each program area, in addition to the central Medical Center.

This marketing opportunity throughout the property holds valuable potential for the right brand.
