2017 COLUMBIA VALLEY RIESLING

In 1975 our family planted one of the first vineyards in the Columbia Valley, an area now known for producing some of the world’s most powerful, opulent wines of distinction. For three generations we’ve worked side by side, hand in hand to craft exciting, vineyard-driven wines that capture the essence of the Columbia Valley.

The greater Columbia Valley is a fantastic place to grow riesling. The backbone of this blend is from our Kiona Estate vineyard, where the riesling vines hold the distinction of being the oldest on Red Mountain (planted in 1975). We include components from the relatively cooler Vista and Olsen sites for layering, aromtic complexity, and acidity.

Crisp, clean, and refreshing, our Columbia Valley Riesling showcases the bright acidi-ty and tremendous fresh fruit characteristics that make Washington a world-class riesling producer. We cold-ferment to preserve fruit flavors, maximize pizzaz, and capture a small amount of frizzante in every bottle.

V I N TAG E N OT E S S TAT I S T I C SHeat accumulation in 2017 tracked slightly lower than the extreme highs during 2016 and 2015, and a wet spring resulted in higher overall precipitation when viewed from an annual perspective. The long, warm summer was prototypical for the area, resulting in delightful wines with strong varietal typicity.
