for these men and women. The combination of activities during

2017 BENEFICIARY
Rocky’s Run For Freedom is held to honor the memory of
Corporal Paul “Rocky” Zanowick, II, a local Marine from Miamisburg, who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country
while serving on deployment to Afghanistan on
June 3, 2011. This event also serves to remember and honor
the ultimate sacrifice made by all of the Fallen Heroes who
have died for our country fighting to preserve our free-
dom. Proceeds from this event each year are donated to
organizations that are dedicated to serving our military,
veterans, or that support our combat wounded heroes and
families of Fallen Heroes killed in action (KIA). Youth organi-
zations that develop character and leadership are also con-sidered as well as any worthy organization whose mission
would honor the memory of Cpl. Zanowick.
In 2013, we held our first event with 430 runners. We were
able to donate $8,100 which was spilt between that year’s
charities: Blue Star Mothers Chapter 3, the Wounded Warrior
Project, and the Uriah Edward Zanowick Trust Fund.
Since that first event we raised $9,000 in 2014 and $12,000
in both 2015 and 2016! 100% of the proceeds have been
shared between our chosen beneficiaries including: the Fish-
er House of WPAFB, Honor Flight Dayton, TAPS Tragedy Assis-
tance Program for Survivors, Children of Fallen Patriots
Foundation, Team Fastrax Warrior Weekend to Remember, a
Bishop Leibold School Scholarship, and Uriah’s Trust Fund.
This is the 5th Annual Rocky’s Run For Freedom 5K! The
Event committee has selected three of our favorite benefi-
ciaries to receive this year’s proceeds!

Bishop Leibold School, which Rocky attended from kindergarten
