I’ve planted 1131 for a few years and it’s been very consistent. I chose it for its high yield potential. It is capable of contest type yields and still holds up under somewhat dry conditions. The 1131 I feel is just the best bang for the buck to get the most yield potential for the least money on this farm.

The last few years, we’ve gone with conventional seed, mostly for the cost savings. We have not seen any reduction in yield or production in any of those varieties. We made 138 bushels to the acre on Seed Consultants corn. 1115 was good, 1172, 1174 always perfom well here in the Southern Piedmont of NC. Seed Consultants has a great lineup of conventional seed.“

I’ve been planting 1163 for several years now, probably 3 or 4. I don’t think you can beat it. I had a field last year that did around 250 bushels and that was like a 56-acre field. It’s got good planting health, and it makes big ears. It’s hard to beat that corn.
