Learning ObjectivesAt the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

• Apply updated knowledge of internal medicine to clinicalambulatory and hospital practice.

• Improve clinical practice by incorporating major newdevelopments in pain management/opioid use, evidence-based antibiotics, HIV challenges in Treatment, increasingadult immunizations, and noninvasive cardiac imaging.

• Understand recent advances in oncology-targeted genetherapy, AFIB, and valvular disease

New: Faculty Development SessionThis three hour workshop will address both communicationand teaching/evaluation skills useful for those involved in education. This pre-course is designed with both junior facultyand community faculty members in mind.

• Develop clear educational goals and objectives for a plannededucational experience.

• Demonstrate how to give effective feedback.

• Review how to set an educational agenda and articulatelearner expectations.

• Practice evidence-based teaching methods to increaseteaching effectiveness and efficiency in busy clinical settings.

• Review the concepts behind the High Value Care curriculumand locate elements of the program that may be useful toplanned educational activities.

• Categorize learner behaviors into reporter, interpreter,manager, and educator roles.

CME Accreditation and MOC Points The American College of Physicians is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education(ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American College of Physicians designates this live activity for a maximum of 16.5 AMA PRA Category 1Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensu-rate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 16.5 MOC points in the AmericanBoard of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certifica-tion (MOC) program.
