Robert “Rob” Anderson III

Director and Project Executive of DoD Mobility Solutions

IBM GBS, Cyber and Biometrics Division

Rob is an expert in creating enterprise mobile communications strategies and solutions

which assist the Department of Defense, Federal, State, Local, and Tribal agencies in

assessing, communicating, and implementing their vision of enabling a fully functional

mobile workforce in all warfighting and business domains.

Currently he is focused on creating a “Mobility as a Service” offering which spans the entire mobile space, to include

classified capability packages which can be easily implemented within garrison and tactical enclaves. These solutions

include multiple technology partners which provide Device as a Service, single bill pay, data obfuscation, unified

capabilities, and other capabilities all focusing on ease of implementation and integrated help desk services.

Working for Headquarters Marine Corps, Command, Control Communications, and Computers (C4) he was the lead

author of the Marine Corps Information Enterprise strategy, the Marine Corps Private Cloud Computing Strategy, Bring

Your Own Device Mobility Concept, the Marine Corps Commercial Mobile Device Strategy, Bring Your Own Device User

Agreement, and the Corporately Owned Personally Enabled User Agreement. He was focused on reducing mobility TCO

by enabling personally owned devices. In order to enable a mobile work force, at a reduced cost to the government, he

leveraged industry based cloud mobility technologies to solve legal and security issues, and maintain the privacy rights

of individuals. He created mobile security and services key performance indicators which were provided to industry, and

government/department contracting agencies and an interim solution to issue derived PKI credentials to commercial

mobile devices while leveraging the billion dollar PKI infrastructure and industry cloud mobility provisioning tools.

Prior to leaving government service in 2016, Mr. Anderson served as:

• S6 Information Systems Management Officer, 3d Marine Regiment

• Communications Officer, 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment

Mr. Anderson is a 2015 Federal 100 Award winner and retired from the Marine Corps as a Communications Officer in

2009 after serving over 25 years to include 5 combat tours: Operation Desert Storm Desert Shield - Kuwait, Operation

Restore Hope - Somalia, Operation Enduring Freedom - Afghanistan, Operation Iraqi Freedom I and III - Iraq. His entire

government service has spanned over 32 years.
