WAAFL T.K Naylor Award Champion Colts Club 2016
The T.K Naylor Trophy combines a club's on and off-field performance with points earned for wins, meetings attended and forms and fees submitted to the League in a timely manner, while points are deducted for red/yellow cards and fines. The Club congratulates our Colts players and coaching staff on receiving this tremendous honour. It is the third time the club has won the award, having previously taken it home in 2001 and 2004.

2016 CLUB AWARDS
Leading Goal Kicker: Leighton Douglas Colts co-captain Leighton Douglas has taken out the club’s Golden Boot for the second consecutive year with 36 goals for the home & away season in both the Colts and League teams. Douglas goaled in 11 out of 16 games this year, including 2 bags of 6 goals and 3 bags of 4. Leighton went on to play in 3 finals for the Colts team, kicking a further 8 finals goals (including 7 in the qualifying final) to finish with 44 goals for the year.
Adam Mouttet Rising Star Award: Josh Hegarty Josh Hegarty has claimed this year’s Adam Mouttet Rising Star after an exceptional debut season for the club. Playing 14 games after crossing from Willetton JFC, Josh found a place in an exceptional Colts midfield full of players with League experience and made it his own with his outstanding work rate. Hegarty kicked 2 goals in his first season and finished inside the top 10 in voting for the Colts Best & Fairest award. Following his outstanding first year with the Blues, Josh looms as a leading player at our club for years to come.
Jim Grace Clubperson Award: Ryan Harder Ryan’s association with the Willetton Football Club started in 2013 where he assisted Jason Walker and the Thirds team with their match day duties as well as running of the Club website. In 2014, while continuing his role with the Thirds, Ryan joined the Committee and had an immediate impact with his enthusiasm, proficiency and professionalism. He took on many of the administrative roles that Jim Grace fulfilled during his presidency including completion of match day paperwork for the entire Club, statistician, yearbook editor and historian. Ryan stepped up to the role of Vice President in 2015 and is also the chair of the Football Operations Committee. His leadership has been influential for the Club though his hard work behind the scenes often goes unnoticed. Over the years he has also acted as Team Manager for all senior teams, has been instrumental in conducting our ANZAC Day ceremonies and was the driving force behind the creation of the Barrett-Uittenbroek Cup between the Willetton and Gosnells Football Clubs. Ryan is a volunteer in the true sense of the word – giving up his time and energy selflessly for no personal reward. While he has played a handful of matches for Willetton, he has no long term association with the Club, and his contributions are based entirely on his desire to see the Willetton Football Club achieve long term success on and off the field. He is a very worthy winner of the Jim Grace Clubperson Award. Nominations for the Jim Grace Clubperson Award were taken from the club’s membership. We congratulate the following members who were nominated by their peers: Gary Beange, Andrew Burvill, Leighton Douglas, Brendan Gotti, Michael Gotti, Josh Harder, Ryan Keepa, Raymond Reveley, Rod Philp.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Damian Chandler
Firstly, I would like to congratulate Kyle, Nathan and Paul, and the League, Reserves and Colts
teams for reaching the finals this season. It is the first year since 2011 that we had at least three
sides in the finals series. It has been fantastic to see the League team make up for the
disappointment of just missing out on the top five last season, and earn the right to host an
Elimination Final. Ultimately we went down in that match, however the steady improvement we
have shown over the past couple of years is a big positive to take into next season.
The Colts and Reserves have had very similar years, both hovering around the top three for
most of the season. They both then proceeded to win their Qualifying Final, lose their Semi
Final and then lose their Preliminary Final in a heartbreaking end to the season. Despite this, it
was tremendous to see the number of Colts aged players who have played League games this
year, as well as other senior players who earned promotion up the grades.
Ray and the Thirds have had another tough season on the park, with two wins to equal the two
wins from last year, but the comradery within the team is a great reflection on Revs and the
passion these guys have for their mates and the Club.
I also want to acknowledge all of our Club umpires – Todd Wedgwood, David Tognolini,
Brennan Wilson, Riley Hunter and Daniel Hawks. It is generally a very challenging job and I
thank you on behalf of the Club for your efforts this season.
This year the Committee has been working on improving our match day procedures, utilising our
sub-committees more effectively and refining our accounting practices. We have had varying
degrees of success but have certainly learned a number of lessons over the year. It is hoped
that as the day-to-day running of the Club becomes more streamlined, the Committee will then
be able to focus on more ‘big picture’ issues such as constructing a new storage shed, updating
our Constitution to align with recent changes to the Associations Act, building our relationships
with the local junior clubs and the East Fremantle District, and other planning initiatives to
ensure the long term viability of the Club.
As with many community football clubs, we rely heavily on a small pool of volunteers, mostly
made up of current players, past players and family members. Our committee is made up
almost entirely of current players, which is a great reflection on their devotion to the Club, but
also presents a challenge when training and playing obligations overlap with off field roles. We
have had fantastic service from our non-playing volunteers over the year, in particular ‘Dad’s
Army’ i.e. Rod, Jim, Bully, Jeffery, Billy and Co, Ray Pratley, Paul Ingram and Travis Kujawski
helping out with the Colts, Jimmy Staples, Stuart Rankine, Ryan Harder, Josh Harder, Chris
Pobjoy, Gary Martin and Paul Kujawski with the Reserves and League, John Kyle and Gary
Beange with the Thirds and Coral Board, Jackie Keepa, Georgie Steacy and Kath Philp in the
canteen. I would also like to thank everyone who helped out during the season from RSAs, to
those setting and packing up the grounds on home games, and anyone else who lent a hand. It
is imperative that we all take ownership of this Club and help out where required to share the
load and responsibilities that comes with running and sustaining a successful football club.
- 12-
At the Committee level, Ryan Harder has again been outstanding in his roles as Vice President,
Football Operations Manager, Team Manager, Statistician, Data Entry Specialist, Historian and
a host of others. He continues to work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that everything
runs as smoothly as possible during the season. Mark Windsor came on this year as Treasurer
and under the watchful eye of former Treasurer Michael Martella has shown great enthusiasm
for the job. After getting to learn the ropes this year, he has already started planning for an even
more productive 2017. Jaidon Tilbrook, still a Colts aged player, put his hand up as Secretary
this year and has shown maturity beyond his years. He has taken responsibility for the prep
work and set up for home and away games, on top of his usual committee and playing duties. I
am very happy that all three of these gentlemen will be continuing in their roles for 2017.
As mentioned, Michael Martella helped out Mark through the year as well as taking on the
Sponsorship Co-ordinator role, which has been a great posting for the Club. Rod Philp has yet
again done a mountain of work as Bar Manager, and with his merry band of Approved
Managers and RSAs has helped keep the eskys full and your thirst satisfied. He has also
worked closely with the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor to ensure that we are
correctly following all the legal requirements of holding our own Liquor License. At a recent
event we had a visit from the inspectors and passed with flying colours, thanks to Rod. David
Philp has also been a vital member of the Committee as our Registrar, but also fulfilling a
number of other roles around the Club and can always be relied upon to help out as needed.
The Events Committee – Kyle Martin, Brendan Gotti, Brad Hill and Mitch Steacy – worked well
this year in taking full control of all social events, and I think you would all agree that they have
been very successful. Josh Harder was another member of the Football Operations committee
who also stepped in as Team Manager while he was injured. It is an obvious Harder family trait
to be hard working and generous, and we are grateful for their continued involvement. Both
Brett Manley and Andrew Burvill often had work commitments during the year which kept them
away from the Club, but they provided valuable input when they were around.
The off field highlights of the year have to be our Past Players Day and Ladies Day functions.
Both these events continue to get bigger and better year after year.
Following on from Past Players Day, we have recently established a Past Players Committee
made up of some of the great names from past years including Jim Grace, Brett Manley, Kim
Barrett, Alex Watson, Trent Keen and Todd Foster. Some of their duties will include maintaining
contact with all of our past players and members, helping organising future Past Player Days
and other social events, ratifying Life Membership and organising our soon to be established
Hall of Fame. We have also recently acknowledged the contribution of another past player, five-
time Best and Fairest winner Doug Gibb, with the creation of the Gibb Medal for the winner of
the League Best and Fairest.
Ladies Day, despite the horrible weather, was another great success and we raised over $3000
for the Purple Hearts and the Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research into women’s
cancers. It was a great experience to team up with Kristen Novak and the girls from Purple
Hearts, and I must also thank Olivia Martin and Carly Grace for their work organising the day.
We will aim to organise it earlier in the year next season to try and ensure better weather!
- 13-
I was also thrilled to accept the T.K Naylor Award for the Champion Colts Club at the WAAFL
Awards night – this is a great affirmation for the character of the playing group as well as the
leadership of Paul, Paul Ingram and Ray Pratley. Well done boys.
My fourth year as President has again been an enjoyable and challenging one, with the regular
Monday morning messages from the Council, the Amateur League or the Soccer Club. I must
thank my wife Kym for her ongoing patience and support. I am looking forward to finishing 2016
on a high and hitting the ground running in 2017.

LEAGUE COACHES REPORT – Kyle Martin 4th position - 11 wins, 7 losses, 101.41%, 52 players used Elimination Final – Willetton 11.5 (71) defeated by Carlisle 13.4 (82) Well what a season we had. With pre-season kicking off in early January, amidst one of the hottest summers on record it was always going to be interesting. With the new pre-season venue of Centenary Park awaiting us I was really keen to get the boys up and running. As this was my second year as senior coach of the footy club, I knew we had to improve and fast. The club appointed Geoff Follows as its fitness coach and the usual suspects such as Chris (Poppy) Pobjoy (League Assistant), Paul “Kakkas” Kujawski (Colts Coach) and Raymond “Revs” Reveley (3rds Coach) where all down full of energy and with the late arrival of twos coach Nathan “El Chickennuggo” Cocks, our 2016 coaching group were ready to achieve our best season in a while. Unfortunately, the league season didn’t start so well with us losing the first two games by 3 pts and one point. With only ourselves to blame we had to improve and improve fast. Losing several players to injury and holidays only put more pressure on the lads and come mid-season we were staring relegation in the face. The competition was so even this year that we knew if we beat a few sides above us and started to get some key players back we would gain momentum and be very dangerous come finals time. But we had to make it first. Great wins against the two sides now going up, in Stirling and Maddington set our season up and we sealed our finals birth with a 12 goal win against Noranda. Unfortunately, the finals didn’t fall our way and we were beaten by a side that just had more experience and wanted it more for longer. Hopefully this burns in the boys’ stomachs as I know it does me, and only drives them for bigger and greater things next year. On a personal point I would like to thank Gary Martin, Dwain Watkins and Paul Kujawski on their help throughout the year as lines coaches. You guys really did have an impact when asked to help out and I know the boys liked having you involved on game day. To Chris Pobjoy. You were at the first night of pre-season, and there at our last game. I’m sure you would have been there more throughout the season but you need to remember you aren’t 21 anymore and get your foot sorted. On a serious note however I do truly thank you for your endless help and assistance over the last two years. I came to this club not knowing how I was going to play and coach and you stepped up and made it possible. Your help and knowledge on game day is a reason this club is moving forward and I’m sure I can say this from everyone but you will be sorely missed. Finally, to our supporters and committee, your support throughout the year hasn’t gone unnoticed and as a senior coach and player I thank you for everything you guys bring to this club. We will make it great again and you are the ones off field to take it there. Bring on 2017. Kyle Martin WFC Senior Coach

RESERVES COACHES REPORT - Nathan Cocks
3rd position – 13 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw, 232.63%, 76 players used
Qualifying Final – Willetton 8.3 (51) defeated Ocean Ridge 6.3 (39) 2nd Semi Final – Willetton 3.14 (32) defeated by Kingsley 6.6 (42) Preliminary Final – Willetton 4.11 (35) defeated by Ocean Ridge 7.4 (46)
After a year out in the wilderness, and reluctantly accepting that my chalk bones were probably not going to allow me to get back to playing football for yet another season, it was a relatively easy decision to take back the helm of the reserves for season 2016. Whilst the season for many starts back in January, as with many reserves footballer’s mentality, the magoos year only really started to take shape probably in the week leading up to round 1 when it was realised that there would be sufficient players to field a team. The season certainly started off with a bang with the team and we went to win our first 4 games by a comfortable margin (albeit against 4 of the bottom 5 teams in Carlisle, Stirling, Bassendean and Kenwick), temporarily climbing to top spot on the ladder. Our next 5 results were mixed however, with a loss to Kingsley a comfortable win over Maddington, a last minute loss to arch rivals Bullcreek (thanks Duck!), a win against Noranda and another narrow loss to Ocean Ridge to round out the first half of the season and see us slip to 4th. We were able to bounce back in the second half of season, starting with a good away win against Carlisle that in hindsight was probably catalysed by my short lived return to the field. Looking back, the following 5 games were a time when many of familiar faces came out of the woodwork, and the team started to gel and build some camaraderie with beers in the change rooms. We went onto win 6 in a row (even though one of those games was a forfeit), though our bubble was burst against Bullcreek who’d become our bogey team. This would be the only game we were to lose in the second half of the year, with a win over Noranda and a draw with Ocean Ridge following. This saw the reserves finish 3rd on the ladder, which earned us a second chance come finals time and confidence that we were genuine title contenders. The first week of finals rolled around where we were matched up against Ocean Ridge for the second week in a row. After a tight first half, we broke the game open in the third/premiership quarter which provided a healthy lead that we maintained to book a grand final play-off spot. Unfortunately, our heroics of the first final could not be matched for subsequent finals against Kingsley and another re-match against Ocean Ridge, with successive losses bringing an end to the season. We were left to rue with the possibility of a different outcome had we better capitalised on our scoring opportunities in both games. The preliminary final loss to Ocean Ridge was particularly hard to swallow, with a significant number of injuries courtesy of a Kingsley reserve unfit for play no doubt playing a part in the loss (I’m expecting a class action suit to be pursued…). Notwithstanding this, the determination and effort on show by everyone that put on the Willetton jumper cannot be faulted, and something that the club should be proud of. Another preliminary final loss as coach is difficult to accept. It would appear that my Kingsley curse continues. When I will next get the opportunity to break this curse remains to be seen, as I am once again hanging up the coaching white board for the foreseeable future. It is always difficult coaching friends (I would have thought I’d learnt my lesson last time), and with a return to fitness the desire to pull the boots back on has returned.
- 17-
I would like to thank the club for the opportunity to coach once again. It has certainly been a challenging and valuable experience which I’m sure I will proudly reflect back on at some point in my life. I would also like to make a special mention of Ryan Harder for going above and beyond his duty as team manager, James Staples for being my assistant/back-up runner/fill-in coach, Stuart Rankine for putting his hand up to be runner and everyone else that has helped out in some capacity along the way. An honourable mention also goes to our eventual leadership group in Aaron “The Duck” Smith (captain) and Brendan “Bender” Gotti (vice-captain) for their efforts, on and off the field. Furthermore, I would also like to thank Damian Chandler and the committee for all the hard work they do behind the scenes, club sponsors (particularly reserves sponsor Your Local Finance) for assisting the club in being financially viable, the other coaching staff for their efforts with their respective teams and everyone else I may have forgotten in making 2016 another great year for the club. Lastly, I would like to congratulate all trophy winners, milestone recipients and life member inductees, particularly our trophy winners: Best & Fairest – Hayden Fleay; Runner Up – Aaron Smith; and Coaches Award (Third in Best & Fairest) – Keilan Marshall/Keanu Reeves. Wishing the club all the best for 2017 - Let’s make it our year to make our return to B grade! Go Blues! Nathan Cocks

COLTS COACHES REPORT – Paul Kujawski 3rd position – 13 wins, 3 losses, 282.44%, 35 players used Qualifying Final – Willetton 15.3 (93) defeated Kingsley 5.10 (40) 2nd Semi Final – Willetton 6.6 (42) defeated by Noranda 4.10 (46) Preliminary Final – Willetton 4.15 (39) defeated by Bullcreek Leeming 5.10 (40)
To steal someone else’s phrase “what a year it has been in football“. Success in colts football can’t always be measured in where you finish on the ladder or whether you managed to “Snag the flag “. The year started with a good preseason but fairly average numbers in colts ranks. The first third of the season was very smooth as the numbers built and so did the wins, until the coaches least favourite music festival came along. We fielded less than a full team against Kingsley as a lot of the boys committed to GTM rather than their team and it was from that point I knew we might be approaching the season without the same commitment as last season. The boys also at this middle third as a group put their full support behind Kyle Martin and the League team. As last year we had around ten colts age players step up and play league through the season and even the boys that only played one or two games gave their best. The last third of the season was a mixed bag with some good results some not so good performances and lot of injury concerns leading into the finals. The finals went the same way with some players having personal issues taking holidays or carrying injuries into finals. The first final against Kingsley was everything a coach could ask for but after that it was all downhill. I think after last year’s success and the amount of talented players we had in our squad the players may have got a bit ahead of themselves but to be fair we did only go down by 4 points then 1 point, had a lot of injuries, some inaccurate kicking but probably not the same desire to win as the two teams that beat us. A special thanks to Travis Kujawski who ran for me this season, but also filled holes in the playing roster. Paul Ingram, “Razor” Ray Pratley and the leadership group were outstanding once again. The colts this year won colts club of the year for the WAAFL. This award cannot be under estimated as it showed the on field maturity of this group of players as well as the dedication and organisation of the colts management group and the club. There are no excuses, this is your club, desire to succeed together and thank you everyone for allowing me the privilege of coaching again this season at the Willeton Football Club.

E2 COACHES REPORT – Raymond Reveley 9th position – 2 wins, 14 losses, 49.74%, 58 players used Well it's that time of the year again where we get to reflect on the year that was for the footy club. 2016 has got many fond memories, whilst the results (and a few bad injuries) may not have gone our way (only the 2 wins for the year but what brilliant wins they were) I got the privilege to celebrate 3 of my best mates at the footy club celebrate their big milestones. Jason "Walkernui" Walker played his 250th game during the year against Ocean Ridge and whilst we couldn't get over the line, the bus trip home was certainly a highlight where the boys all celebrated his achievement with a few beers and a very humorous bus trip home along the coast. Walkernui, my sincerest thanks for all your help and support this year but also the good times over the journey. Tim "Timmah" Edwy-Smith played his 150th game against Warnbro. On that particular day we only had 18 players yet managed to pull off a brilliant win by 80 points and help the club not have a winless week for the year. Timmah as a triple best and fairest it's been a privilege to play alongside you. The team also thanks you for your Photoshop exploits over the year. Mark "Picco" Picolli played his 200th game against Kingsway and whilst we couldn't get over the line for you, it's been a pleasure to play alongside you and I reckon every small defender in the club could learn a trick or two from you. I still remember you and Timmah being among the first blokes I met when I first walked into the thirds change rooms in 2003 as a colt. These friendships are the reason I have come back every year. I also want to shout out to Andrew Thompson who played 100 games this year and to Luke Fisher, Micahel Gotti and John Dawkins on playing 50 games. There were some wonderful efforts by the playing group during a trying year in particular Captain Jeremy "Jezza" Perhavec (Congratulations on winning the best and fairest - A very worthy winner), Mitch Moylan, Joel "Milky" Horsley, Jason "Walkernui" Walker and Nat Broomfield. We certainly had our challenges over the year with Lachlan Perhavec, James Bennett and Ben Kyle all go down with some nasty injuries, I wish you well in the rehab/ recovery fellas and look forward to seeing you all back on the park soon. It was great to win for the ladies on ladies day on the main oval against Ocean Ridge - It was really a wonderful day where not only we got the win but saw the emergence of Aaron LoCicero, Mitch Moylan, Tim Boulton and also Michael Gotti (who amongst the team had an end of the ground named after him when he kicked a brilliant goal and effectively made the boys believe we were never going to lose the game). I want to conclude this report with the usual thank you because without this support we would never get a side on the park. To the committee for backing me in again to coach, To Riley Hunter who did the boundary umpiring for the side all year, to Heyman Lau for undertaking our physio, John Kyle for the goal umpiring all year, Isaac Correia for taking care of the Team Manager role, Michael "The Real Gotti" Gotti and the banner army for coordinating all the banner making during the milestones, to James Bennett and Lachie Perhavec for helping out on the sidelines whilst injured, to my

leadership group Jeremy "Jezza" Perhavec, Nat Broomfield and Andrew "Thommo" Thompson for your support, to all the players I had the privilege to play alongside and coach, to all the wives, girlfriends, parents and supporters who came down and watched us during the year. Lastly to my beautiful wife Cherie for putting up with me coaching again this year - thanks princess. "In all seriousness" (a quote that became a coach Reveley trademark and a banner message - cheers Gotti) I also want to thank the club to allow me the privilege to play 200 games, coach this side for 2 years, win 2 best and fairest awards, a premiership, play 13 years and become a life member of our great club and for the milestone footballs which are proudly displayed at home. I also am very grateful for the friends and memories I have made along the journey. I intend to take a step back next year and start accomplishing a few bucket list items (maybe still hang around and have a kick/ help out the club where required too). Please stay safe over the summer and come back next year for another crack at a premiership. All the best and my warmest congratulations to all the award winners. Raymond "Revs" Reveley E2 Coach
