library rules

Library Challenges
Budget
◦ Books
◦ Copyright
◦ Cancellation of electronic resources (R8 million) in 2016
No books will be purchased as the budget for books will be
optimally used to save electronic journals
Students population growth vs. Space and Resource limitations
Few academics submit course outlines to the library, an element
that hampers the library teaching and learning plans
Inability to retain professional librarians vs stability in supporting
faculty needs

Library Expectations from Academics
Course Outlines presented by academics to Faculty librarians by
October of every year to inform our collection development
Academics to engage their librarians on matters pertaining
classroom activities so that library services can be aligned to
specific tasks given in the class
Use Faculty librarians as channel of communication between the
library and the faculty department
Advise the library on programme review plans so that your library
resources can be carefully assessed to determine how much they
support the programme
Administrative staff can also use librarians for their work related
needs
