IGNITING GOD’S VISIONSPRING 2016

GNPI enters its 40th year of ministry in 2016, and we remain commited to our God-given task to accelerate global evangelism through media and technology. Our theme for GNPI this year is “Ignite” as we strive to be strategic with our plans to equip the Church to make disciples.

Please make plans to come to Vision Night and hear from Nenette Pacoli about our regional center in Manila, Philippines. You may register on our website or call the office in Joplin to sign up for our events in Missouri, Indiana, and Arizona. I would love for you to invite your friends!

The future is bright as Project Nomad catches fire around the world, and especially in Latin

America and SE Asia. The list of Nomad trainings for 2016 excites me because it is evidence of our expanding global footprint. Project Nomad and our other key initiatives are fanned into flame through your generosity and prayers.

We are thankful for the wonderful family of individuals and churches who recognize the great opportunity we have to use technology to present biblically based, culturally relevant materials with over two-thirds of the world. Your prayers, advocacy for us, and financial provision allow us to fan into flame the projects and resources needed to make disciples.

Networking in MexicoGNPI-Mexico reports several exciting new projects. Our friends in Piedras Negras took steps into the world of mobile technology in partnership with Back to the Bible by releasing their first custom app, Mas Vida (More Life), in December. The app helps people to interact with the Word of God. Unique profiles promote ways to grow spiritually through customized content that encourages both reading and responding to Scripture.

GNPI-Mexico released a plan in Spanish for the popular YouVersion Bible app at Christmas featuring videos from The Global Gospel. It has been well received with more than 2,300 completions.

In addition to these app developments, GNPI-Mexico continues to roll out relevant short films. Their newest production, Shadow of Flowers, follows the inspiring story of a young lady facing anorexia. Several music projects are in the works too. GNPI-Mexico hosted a regional meeting in Nicaragua during February. They hope to engage GNPI-Mexico staff, Nomad teams, and other potential partners in the development of new strategies to more effectively reach Latin America with the Gospel. Visit www.gnpi.org/newsletter for more information about these opportunities in Mexico.

Our regional director at GNPI-SE Asia takes every opportunity to share the Gospel. Recently Timothy P joined his coworkers on several strategic trips. They shared the Gospel at youth events throughout Malaysia and also met with church leaders. The team even made their way into India to offer multiple training sessions for church leaders. Timothy often presents evangelistic materials to groups and individuals. He also had the privilege of training nearly 80 government employees with ways to present the Gospel to Buddhists.

“We talked about how to spread the Good News of Christ through media, maintain our connections, and share in Asia as well as internationally.” Timothy said. “I hope God will open many hearts to the Truth.”

When Timothy is not traveling, individuals and small groups of ministers often stop by his house to ask him to explain the Gospel or to study the Scriptures. Timothy said,

“I am full of happiness as I share with them about Christ, who is the True and Living God.”

After severe flooding in his region last year, Timothy felt a burden to help secure relief for flood victims. With the help of International Disaster Emergency Services (IDES), the Lord blessed their efforts and opened doors for the Gospel. A village leader said to Timothy, “Thank you for coming this far. Y ou Christians have a great love for our people. We appreciate you. We will always welcome you to this village anytime, any day. ” Timothy gives the ultimate credit for all he is able to accomplish to the Lord. “Praise the Lord. God is working through us, and people are coming to Christ.”

Our eight active Nomad teams are working on a variety of projects for their cultures. It is a joy to see their hearts and passion to share the love of Christ through media. Currently we have two teams in India, as well as teams in Kenya, Rwanda, Mali, South Africa, Mexico, and Chile.

We recently reconnected with our team in Kadiolo, Mali. Formed in early 2013, this team endured the uncertainty of a military coup that

occurred shortly after their initial training. As a measure of stability returns, they will soon be back on track with their first video production.

Things are moving quickly as we plan for up to 150 new multimedia disciples to be trained and equipped through upcoming training events around the world this year.

Our enhanced training curriculum takes entry-level trainees through the basics of video production and gives advanced trainees more in-depth knowledge. International and U.S. volunteers are helping to shape a robust training schedule.

Project Nomad will facilitate eight training events in 2016. Three of these will augment skills for active

teams in India, South Africa, and Chile. An additional five entry-level trainings are in the process of being scheduled on three other continents. Training dates have been selected for Hong Kong. We are also working on solidifying dates for two cities in Ukraine at the end of the summer.

We thank the Lord for the opportunity to train 40 students in Chennai, India, at the end of last year. Although the monsoonal weather interfered with classes at times, the students saw the value of media. They were excited about the new techniques they learned and how to apply them as they share the Gospel Message.

Three generations of my family have known about and loved Good News Productions, International. I felt like I knew Ziden, Helen, Tom, and Lynda Nutt and Mike and Karolyn Schrage personally because my Mom told me stories illustrating their consistent integrity.

My Grandpa Russell moved his family to Joplin in 1955 to attend Ozark Bible College. Ziden and Helen were also students, so my grandparents followed their journey to Rhodesia and the early days of the ministry. This early connection between our two families allowed me to grow up observing the quiet and steadfast faith of my grandparents as they purposefully, sacrificially, and prayerfully planned ways to offer their support.

My mom, Leah, worked at GNPI in Joplin for a while after she graduated from Ozark, and my favorite story was about the time Mom visited the farm of Marvin and Gladys Helen Forkner, Helen’s parents. Tom Nutt “taught” her how to put a worm on a hook, and

Gladys Helen prepared the best fish gravy and made-from-scratch biscuits for breakfast.

I remember a visit from Mike, Karolyn, Karissa, and Kathryn to our home on the farm in Nebraska. As an only child at the time, I think it was mostly a grand adventure to have two other girls to play with for a while.

The stories and memories are special to me because God has used the lives of ordinary people to achieve His purposes, and their lives have touched the members of my family. Supporting GNPI has given my family a global mindset that respects other cultures and longs for all to know Jesus. It’s been an honor to partner in a small way through prayer and contributions, and now I have the privilege to work as a member of the staff. Looking back over the past 40 years it’s humbling to see how the ministry has grown and to look ahead knowing the accomplishments are all His: His work, His people, and His Good News.

On December 18, 2015, IRA charitable rollovers became a permanent part of tax law.

Anyone at least 70.5 years of age can direct their IRA custodian to “roll” money from an IRA to ministries, churches, or charities, and you won’t have to claim the “rollover” as income. The amount sent to charity qualifies towards the annual required minimum distribution (RMD).

If you don’t itemize your tax return, the charitable IRA rollover may

reduce your taxes because the RMD isn’t considered income. If you want to make a larger than normal gift to a church or ministry, and have excess in your IRA, the rollover can be used for gifts up to $100,000 per year.

The rollover has very specific guidelines. GNPI partners with David Duncan of the Co:Mission Foundation who can help us answer your questions or provide more information. You may download the IRA form at www.gnpi.org/newsletter. Contact us at 417-782-0060.
