Therapeutic Massage Program Therapeutic Massage has become integral to conventional healthcare and is used in sports medicine, hospitals, physical therapy, physicians’ offices, as well as in the chiropractic offices, spa/resort settings, gyms, and acupuncture clinics. A career in Massage Therapy is not only transportable to a number of industries and regions but also offers opportunities for flexible scheduling and high earning potential.

The Massage Therapy Certificate program at GBCC prepares students to work in a number of different settings and continue their education into a more specialized field. Offering both a lecture and lab component, students practice proper massage techniques including Swedish massage, sports massage, myofascial release, acupressure and hot stone massage as well learn proper posture and body positioning.

Courses are offered during the day and evening allowing students to complete the program in one year. The curriculum is approved by the State of New Hampshire Massage Therapy Board, The National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and by the State of New Hampshire Department of Education, Post-Secondary Education Division. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to take the New Hampshire approved licensing exam.

Psychology The new Associate of Arts in Psychology degree is designed to allow students to transfer to a four-year degree program or to begin a career connected to the field of psychology. Students will have the opportunity to use their skills in the community and design their own research. This degree will offer a specialized Liberal Arts degree for those students only seeking an associate’s degree. It will also link liberal arts and undeclared students to a specific program. It will provide an affordable option to students seeking a bachelor’s degree in the discipline.

Aviation Technology The Aviation Technology Helicopter Pilot Program at GBCC provides graduates with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications required to start a career as a professional helicopter pilot. Hands-on training and experience is provided by Seacoast Helicopters of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and instruction is provided by FAA-certified flight and ground instructors. No prior helicopter piloting experience is necessary and students graduate with certifications and licenses necessary to immediately start a career as a helicopter pilot or pursue a career path for entry into fields including Airport Management, Aircraft Maintenance, Airport Line Management, Fixed-Base Operation Management and Airport Maintenance. Online Course InfoOnline courses are a great alternative to campus-based classes, but before you jump in, review the following tips so you are making an IN-FORMED decision. Online classes require that you...

► Possess strong time management skills. You will need to organize your schedule to meet assignment deadlines. ► Communicate frequently with your instructor and fellow classmates. This means you must know how to access your student email. ► Plan on putting aside the same amount of time for your online course as you would for a face-to-face course. In fact, online courses can be

even more demanding of your time, so be prepared. ► Log onto Blackboard, your course management site, at least weekly to read new announcements, complete discussion boards, track as-

signments, etc. Online classes do have an attendance requirement that is demonstrated through your participation on the site as well as through submission of assignments.

► Have access to a reliable, up to date computer with a high speed internet connection and word processing software. ► Be proactive and seek help when needed. For help with course content, email your instructor and/or visit the

CAPSwebsite: www.greatbay.edu/caps For technical assistance, visit the help desk: www.greatbay.edu/helpdesk ► All classes may include an online component.
