THE PRE-INTERNSHIP CONFERENCE 2016 DELEGATE HANDBOOK

Welcome to the premier academic event for graduating medical students of Queensland: Pre-Internship (PRINT) Conference 2016! It’s surreal to think that these are the last few weeks of medical school, with internship just around the corner. Medical school has been a long and gruelling journey and yet most of us still harbour a sense of inadequacy. With this in mind, we hope that this conference will give you a boost of confidence as you commence your internship.

The PRINT Conference will feature high profile speakers who will inform and inspire you. This will be complemented by 6 workshops where common scenarios that you will face during internship will be simulated. We are honoured and thank the speakers who have dedicated their time to be part of something truly phenomenal – your transition to the medical workforce.

A huge thank you and congratulations to my team, who have made PRINT 2016 a reality. They have worked around-the-clock for months to bring you this amazing two-day conference. Thank you to our Final Year Representatives who have helped promote our conference to you, the Queensland graduating class of 2016.

We hope that you enjoy this conference as much as we have enjoyed organising it. Take each talk as a pearl of wisdom, and each workshop as your first day of internship - think about what you would do if you were asked to plaster a fracture in ED, interpret a CXR whilst on call or paged at 1 am for a clinical review. The academic streams aim to educate, promote critical reasoning and improve confidence - with the hope that we’re all safe interns when we start in only 3 months! Congratulations again and welcome to PRINT Conference!
