Work Day Success!

Masterson Equestrian Trust held their annual Work Day at the end of September and once again it was a resounding success! Over 40 volunteers helped paint the gates and repair fence boards on the hunter ring; paint jump standards and poles; waterproof barrels donated from

Alltech; weed the water jumps; and install the perimeter trail signs. We are so thankful for all the volunteers who help keep the Park looking great! We couldn’t do it without you! We also would not be able to keep the Park in such great shape without the help of Kentucky Back Country Horsemen, who so kindly continue to loan us the use of their trailer and tools to keep the Park looking top-notch.

Door Prize Donations: • Equestrian Events, Inc.• Harrington Mill Farm• Julie Congleton• Karen Winn• Kentucky Performance

Products, LLC• McCauley Bros., Inc. • Wise Choice Tack

…and many more!

Door prizes were generously provided to thank Work Day volunteers.

Jump standards got a new coat of paint during the 2016 Work Day.

MET is so thankful for all the hard-working volunteers who gave back to the Park!

Hunter ring repair was a Work Day priority.

Test Your Dressage Skills at Summerbird

Walk e Line

If you happen to take a hack around the perimeter of Masterson Station Park this fall, you will see some additional signs in place. e

Perimeter Trail marks the entire 4.35-mile loop around the Park, beginning at the trail head near the le-hand corner of the hunter ring.

Easily read from horseback, the signs will be helpful to both those equestrians planning a casual trail ride to serious competitors working on their horse’s tness.

Like many facets of the Park, the trail is multi-use, meaning that it can be used by runners, cyclists, horseback riders and those out for a casual stroll. Please be aware of those around you and make them aware of your presence in a friendly way.

Bring your horse out to Masterson any Wednesday during June, July and August for the opportunity to ride in front of USEF “r” judge Julie Congleton and FEI rider Judi Tudor. Just $10 per ride, simply show up any time from 4 p.m. until dusk, and let the judge know what test you plan to ride. Located

in the dressage rings at the top of the hill, park your trailer at the indoor, hack to the dressage pads and warm up in any of the open rings.

Summerbird Dressage is a great way to get your horse o the farm and test his dressage skills in a low-stress, friendly environment.

New Perimeter Trail signage is in place around the Park.

Sarah Jax: e XC schooling is the best!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MASTERSON STATION PARK?

Carol Scherbak: To have a city park dedicated to horses in the Horse Capital of the World is phenomenal! No matter what type of horse or type of riding you do, the Park is there for everyone to enjoy.

With your support, Masterson can keep making memories for generations to come.

Margaret MacLachlan: I love everything about it! One thing that makes it better than other places is the jumps!

Kathy Lindsey: e simple fact that Masterson exists for the horse community...is a blessing we should all be thankful for.

Mandy Alexander: Masterson is and always will be my happy place. I took lessons there as a kid and now many, many years later, I still enjoy having access to beautiful parkland to ride my horses and school xc, as well as visit local shows and picnic. It’s a Lexington treasure that I hope is around for more than my lifetime!

President’s Letter

How many equestrians have access to a facility like Masterson Station Park and don’t have to pay a dime to use it? Not many! All who have enjoyed the equestrian facilities at Masterson appreciate them, but we need to remember that there is always

pressure for development of open spaces. I urge all of you to make good use of Masterson’s equestrian facilities and

help advocate for this gem that we have here in the Horse Capital of the World.
