2016 + GROM/MSX 125 ECU REFLASH INSTRUCTIONS Mini-4C RC-MINI-PLUS-2

SUMMARY These instructions are intended to re-flash the aRacer Mini-4c and RC-Mini-Plus-2 ECU so that it would work with 2016+ Honda Grom/MSX 125 (SF/2nd Gen). This would allow the ECU to be compatible with 2016+ Grom’s, which would eliminate the need to re-pin the ECU connector on the harness. Once the re-flash is performed, it would only work with the 2016+ Grom.

If the re-flash is performed and you would like to install the ECU on a 1st Gen 2014-2015 Grom/MSX, then you could re-flash the ECU again with the older model’s program from the aRacer Mini 2 Software. See step #22.

INSTRUCTIONS Please follow the instructions carefully to re-flash your Aracer ECU to work with 2016+ Honda Grom 125.

1. Once you have installed the aRacer ECU, do not start the engine or turn on the key.

2. Use the i-link cable to connect the aRacer ECU to your computer via USB Port.

3. Visit aRacer website: www.aracer-speedtek.com 4. On the top right of the homepage, click ENGLISH 5. Click DOWNLOADS 6. Click RCMINI+ and RCmini4c SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD tab 7. Download MiniPlus2 & Mini4C ECU FLASH TOOL 8. Once the software file is downloaded, open the ZIP file:

9. Select and open Mini2_QB_EN_20161109 folder.

10. Select Mini2_Setup.MSi to install the software

11. Installation window 12. Select YES

13. Click Next to install the CP210x USB to UART Bridge Driver

14. Click CLOSE after installation is completed.

15. Find the aRacer Mini 2 Icon on your

DESKTOP

16. Choose the ECU model that you’re programing

17. Once you open the software, you will need to download the latest DATABASE from the cloud. Select the CLOUD icon on top. Then click UPDATE

18. Click OK to run database version check and

update.

19. Allow the download to run and extract. Then

click OK after download is completed.

20. Now you will see a list of Calibration Data on the left. Select HONDA and click on the + box to see all models under Honda. Select MSX125.

21. Turn on the KEY on the bike, make sure that the engine kill-switch is on RUN position. Click on the orange LINK icon on the top left. This would link your ECU to your computer via i-Link cable (see step #2).

22. Select one of the following files: • MSX125_STOCK (2016) for 125cc Engine

OR

• MSX125_170cc (2016) for 170cc+ engines

Note: If you would like to re-flash the ECU to be used with 2014-2015 1st Gen Grom’s, then you would select on of the top two file that doesn’t have (2016) on it. This would reverse the ECU back to before.

23. Once the correct file is selected, click the PROGRAM button to perform the re-flash. This would take a brief moment.

24. After the re-flash programming is completed, the fuel

pump will turn on for about 2-3 seconds.

25. *IMPORTANT STEP* Turn the KEY to OFF position for a minimum of 10 seconds.

a. If the key is off for less than 10 second, the re-flash could fail as the update to the ECU wasn’t registered.

26. Turn the key on and start the engine. If the RPM reads, then the ECU re-flash was successful. If it doesn’t, then please start this process again.

27. Now you can proceed to the tuning process!
