We have now kicked off our spring stewardship campaign “Living Generously…Changing Lives.” The campaign takes place this time every year to support the operating budget of Woodmont Christian Church that will begin July 1, 2016. I am grateful to Tom and Kathy Patten for chairing the campaign again this year. Sunday, April 24th will

be Commitment Sunday and we ask that you prayerfully consider making a commitment to support the mission and ministries of our church. This is how we responsibly set our budget (based on the commitments). Everything that we do here is dependent upon the generosity of our congregation. Megan and I proudly support Woodmont financially because we believe in our church’s mission: “Seeking God, Sharing Love, and Serving Others” and because we understand the importance of stewardship. We know that lives are changed and transformed on a daily basis. We love what Montgomery and Clayton are learning in Sunday School and at the Preschool. We love the different worship styles that our church offers each week. We take pride in the Habitat Houses built, Morgan Scott Mission Trips, Guatemala sponsorships, outreach grants, meals served by the Nashville Food Project, Room In the Inn, hosting AA, Al Anon, Divorce Care, and so many other groups. We are thankful for the children’s ministry, the youth ministry, young adult

ministry, adult education opportunities, small groups, music ministries, and fellowship events that happen. We are thankful for the friendships that we have been blessed to form at Woodmont, realizing that strong friendships at church make life much more enjoyable. We all play a role in moving our church forward and keeping all of these ministries alive.

In recent years, we have been blessed to grow in our stewardship levels at Woodmont, even during challenging economic times. This has been a collaborative effort, with everybody stepping up and doing their part. Sacrificial giving is a part of following Christ. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Living is giving. All of us work together to make all of these ministries possible. Every gift counts, no matter the size. Below this article is a chart that reflects our recent growth.

Every year, our stewardship goal is simple: keep moving forward. Research now shows us that the church must compete more than ever before for the charitable dollar. One truth remains: only church people will support the ministries of the church. I invite you to join with me this month in making a commitment to support the mission and ministries of Woodmont for another year. Thank you for your generosity. Please know that your generosity is greatly appreciated, it makes a difference, and is changing many lives on a daily basis!

Blessings,

Living Generously…Changing Lives by Clay Stauffer

They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous

and ready to share, thus storing up

for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they

may take hold of the life that really is life.

Background information: In the past 14 months, Dr. Beth Dobyns has very capably and faithfully served in an interim capacity as Regional Minister and President while the Tennessee Region Search Committee looked for someone to fill the position. The Tennessee Region Executive Committee and the entire Regional Board affirmed the Tennessee Region Executive Search committee’s recommendation of Rev. Dr. Christal Williams as the Regional Minister and President of the Christian Church in Tennessee. The purpose of the Assembly is for the churches in the Tennessee region to affirm or deny the Call of our next Regional Minister and President. Woodmont is hosting the Assembly.

Woodmont’s Richmond Williams ([email protected]) and Trey Flowers ([email protected]) are on the Regional Board and Katie Johnson ([email protected]) was on the search committee - if you have any questions about Dr. Williams or the voting process, please contact Trey, Richmond, or Katie. Dr. Williams’ bio can be found at www.ccdctn.org. Interested in being a delegate or an usher? We need representation and a few folks to help during the Assembly. If you are interested, please contact the church office at (615) 297-8563.

Turn Fears of Aging to Hope - Class dates: 4/20 and 4/27led by Ed Zinkiewicz in Room 105

Being afraid to get out of bed is not a good way to wake up in the morning!Retirees share deep fears related to aging: running out of money, losing independence, and death. Let’s apply the age-old remedy of shining a light under the bed and see just what is going on under there. Do we have monsters? Can we tame them? In these two one-hour presentations we’ll explore three of the most common fears retirees face, fears that can cause you to lose sleep or worse. Fears may come unbidden, but we can be armed. We need to get out of bed hope filled. Let’s figure out some proactive things we can do to meet these fears head on.

April 13th - Guest Speaker and Therapist Jim Schleicher will lead class.
