Dear Volleyball friends,

After the exciting matches contested in the second qualifying round organised and played in early April, the 2016 edition of the CEV U19 Women/U20 Men Volleyball European Championships continues with the third and final stage of the qualification process, which is some kind of ‘last call’ for those teams that are still chasing a ticket to the Final Rounds taking place later this summer in Slovakia/Hungary and Bulgaria, respectively.

These qualification tournaments will be an additional opportunity for many young, talented players to represent their country on the international stage and to showcase their skills as they try and work hard to fulfil their dream of a professional career in their favourite sport.

There are four and three tickets at stake for men and women respectively to join the winners of the second round qualifiers contested in early April as well as the hosts of the Final Rounds coming up in late August where the eventual European champions of these age groups will be crowned.

Waiting for the competition to enter one of its most exciting stages and wishing the best of success to all teams in their preparations, I would like to thank all National Federa-tions who are showing their commitment to our common ‘Volleyball cause’ by hosting one of these tournaments.

My gratitude goes to the host countries and more specifically to the local organisers, the many volunteers and everyone involved in the delivery of these events for providing Europe’s next golden generation with the right conditions to test their skills and see whe-re they stand at an early, yet very promising stage of their Volleyball careers.

The best Volleyball at grass-root level in Europe takes the city of Valladolid for the third round of the qualification to the 2016 CEV U20 Volleyball European Champions-hip – Men. Four teams clash in Pabellón Huerta del Rey sports hall in the Spanish city with the intention of earning the right to play in the final round of the top continental championship being held in Bulgaria in September.

The squads of Spain, Ukraine, Romania and Germany will meet in Valladolid in three thrilling days of competition. The Spanish city has become in recent years one of the ca-pitals of Volleyball in the country by hosting first-class events of this sport. The 2015 and 2014 editions of the WEVZA U19 Men tournaments, the 2014 WEVZA U16 Championship Women, or the first day of the 2014 CEV European League, to name a few of the most recent, are examples of successful international events which were held in Valladolid.

The competition to showcase the high level of Volleyball among youngsters from July 8-10 will present emotion and great sport moments as the four participating sides dream of reaching the final stage of the continental championship. All the squads to compete in Valladolid have come a long way to the quest to earn the ticket for the 2016 CEV U20 Volleyball European Championship – Men, and as the ball starts flying over Polideportivo Pisuerga the future of the sport in the four countries will come into play. I am convinced that the public of Valladolid will respond to the importance of the tour-nament and will fill Pabellón Huerta del Rey sports hall. I want to thank local institu-tions and sponsors for their support, and I hope that teams will find the best conditions for three unforgettable days. Good luck to Spain and may the best team win.
