Four years ago, our family walked through the doors of

Nemours for the first time. I was hand-in-hand with my

daughter, Ava. Both of us were petrified.

Ava had been in extreme pain, and we were looking for a

diagnosis. It was a time of complete uncertainty for me

as a mother. Ava was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic

arthritis (JIA). It is a rare and serious diagnosis that will

affect her for the rest of her life.

Though her condition is complex, the Nemours team

eased our fears. With their help, we know we are making

the best choices we can, based on the latest treatment

options and an understanding of our daughter’s unique needs.

I know that donations to Nemours have helped us

along the way. Donations support everything from

clinical care to Child Life, a department that focuses

on educating children and reducing anxiety about

the hospital experience.

No parent ever wants to be in a position where their

child needs specialized care. But knowing that we

have the Nemours community on our side has made

all of the difference in the world.

Thank you for all you do for children and families.

2006, due to complications from cerebral palsy.

“Nicholas had an infectious smile, lust for life

and an incredible ability to communicate without

words,” says Michael Hynansky. “We hope this gift

will improve the lives of patients and their families.”

A NIGHT WITH NEMOURS –LA VIE EN COULEUR, ORLANDO, FLA.

Supporters of Nemours Children’s Hospital contributed more than $408,000 at the annual gala, A Night With Nemours – La Vie En Couleur. All funds raised support the interventionalradiology program that has allowed Nemours to reach newfrontiers in treating children — the only program of its kind thatoffers a team of fellowship-trained pediatric interventionalradiologists in Florida. The team uses minimally invasiveprocedures to serve children with the most fragile and complexconditions that would traditionally require surgery.

Gala guests had the opportunity to meet Noah and Charlotte, two patients treated at Nemours. Their stories are amonghundreds of children and families that come to Nemours fortreatment of complex vascular anomaly conditions.
