Course DescriptionThe 2016 Southern Pediatric Endocrine Society Annual Meeting is designed to allow members of the Society and other interested pediatric endocrinologists and healthcare professionals to present new research findings, novel case studies and pediatric endocrine problems in order to update participants on the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine abnormalities in their clinical practice. There will be ample time for discussion, questions and answers and interaction among participants in an informal setting.
Target AudienceThe course is specifically designed to meet the educational needs of pediatric endocrinologists, pediatric endocrine nurses, diabetic educators, PA’s, fellows and other healthcare professionals interested in pediatric endocrinology.
Learning ObjectivesUpon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
Course Competencies ACGME/ABMS • Practice-Based Learning and Improvement (PBL) • Patient Care and Procedural Skills (PCP) • Medical Knowledge (MK) • System-based Practice (SBP)
These objectives will apply to both physicians and nurses.
• Provide a framework for ongoing independent learning for primary care providers caring for children and adolescents with growth and puberty variants and other endocrine disorders.
• Describe the impact of growth hormone receptor deficiency on insulin resistance.
• Describe up-to-date progress with diabetes mellitus type 1 management and stem cell islet cell transplantation
• Describe impact Tele-Health on patient compliance and culinary medicine for Community Healthcare

Registration FeeRegistration Fees for this conference are $175. This includes program materials, breakfasts, breaks, lunch and dinner. To register, please log on to www.cme.hsc.usf.edu. Guest Fee for Attending Dinner: $75
Registration CancellationCancellations must be requested in writing via fax to 813-224-7864 or e-mail to [email protected], and received by October 10, 2016 in order to receive a refund. A $75 cancellation fee will be assessed to cover administrative costs. There are no refunds for no-shows or for cancellations received after October 10, 2016. Substitutions are welcome without penalty.
USF Health Office of Continuing Professional Development reserves the right to cancel this activity due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case the full registration fee will be refunded. USF Health is not responsible for travel expenses incurred by the participants in the unlikely event that this activity is cancelled.

Completion RequirementsTo achieve course completion, learners are required to: • Attend all sessions • Complete all pre and post course assessments
AccreditationPhysiciansUSF Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
USF Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 11 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity
Nurses USF Health is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
A maximum of 11 contact hours may be earned by learners who successfully complete this continuing nursing education activity.
Physician AssistantsAAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ from ACCME accredited providers. Physician Assistants who participate will receive a certificate of completion commensurate with the extent of their participation.
