Mission Statement

2016–2017 Annual Report

Wayne County Community College District’s mission is to empower

individuals, businesses and communities to achieve their goals through

excellent and accessible services, culturally diverse experiences and

globally competitive higher education and career advancement programs.

WCCCD:• Serves 32 communities encompassingapproximately 500 square miles with nearly 1.8million people throughout Wayne County, one of the largest counties in the State of Michigan.

• Has five campus locations and the Mary Ellen Stempfle University Center.

• Offers more than 120 certificate and degree programs.

One Vision, One District, One College

As a publicly funded institution, the Wayne County Community College District is committed to providing our community

information pertaining to the operations of the District. As part of our transparency efforts, the Wayne County Community

College District complies with Sec. 209 in P.A. 201 of 2012, the education omnibus budget bill, which requires community

colleges to publish transparency webpage and stipulate the content.

WCCCD is part of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) –

Eastern Conference. We are also a member of the National Junior College Athletic

Association (NJCAA) – Region XII.

The following sports are offered at WCCCD: Women’s cross country, basketball and bowling.

Men’s cross country, basketball, bowling and golf.

The mission of the Department of Intercollegiate

Athletics is to provide the students of WCCCD the

opportunity to compete in a well balance, quality

NJCAA Division II athletic program that meets the

needs, interests, abilities of male and female

students, while meeting the commitment of

the college‘s over all mission.

Our mission requires that WCCCD athletes be

students first, that they be admitted with careful

attention to their academic record and motivation,

that they benefit from WCCCD educational program

and make satisfactory progress toward a degree,

and that their attrition and graduation rates

be comparable to those of other students.

WCCCD is also committed to the physical and

emotional well-being of student-athletes and

to the social development of the whole person.

We honor the worth of individuals of all racial,

gender, ethnic, and national origins, and we

value persons from all socio-economic,

educational, and experiential background.

WCCCD has sent hundreds of student-athletes to universities on athletic scholarships from the

different sports programs that the college offers. This past season the following student athletes

received athletic scholarships.

HONORS

Wayne County Community College has had hundreds of athletes qualify for individual honors

such as All-American, All-Region, All-State, and All-Conference titles. Wildcats are proud to

have produced athletes who have achieved ranking and appearances on a national level.

Men’s Basketball • The Wildcats men’s basketball coaching staff has been honored over the years with

6 Coach of the Year awards.

• This past season 4 men’s basketball players received athletic scholarships.

• Wildcat team finished in second place in the regional and state finals.

Women’s Basketball • This past season 4 women’s basketball players received athletic scholarships.

Men’s Golf • The Wildcats golf team has product one All American, 3 appearances at the National level.
