With over 250 teams and 10,000 people from all over the UK participating, the Tigers Challenge is the largest youth rugby festival of its kind in the UK - there’s nowhere better to take your team on tour.

The Tigers Challenge is a professionally organised festival that brings U7 - U15 boys teams and U13 & U15 girls teams together for a fantastic weekend of rugby and fun. Every aspect of the game, its safety and ethos will be upheld to the highest standards and the festival will be organised in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of the RFU.

Butlins’ award winning resorts in Bognor Regis and Minehead are the perfect base for your tour. The resorts are safe and secure and packed with a fantastic range of facilities and entertainment.

The group stages of the festival will take place on the Saturday, with the final group standings determining whether teams go on to compete in the Tigers Challenge Finals, Shield or Bowl competitions on the Sunday.

With dramatic sound and lighting effects, celebrity guests and awards for every player, our celebrity presentations are the perfect way to close the festival and is a night to remember for everyone involved.

With dramatic sound and lighting effects, our spectacular presentation ceremonies are the highlight of the tour for many of our teams.

Every team gets their moment of glory, when they are invited onto the main stage to meet our special guest. From current superstars, to legends of the game, every player gets to meet a celebrity guest at the presentation.

Special guests have included Scott Hamilton, Jeremy Staunton, George Chuter, Craig Newby, Freddie Tuilagi, Dan Hipkiss and George Ford in previous years.

All players receive a quality medal as a memento of the Tigers Challenge. In addition, there are superb team awards for the winners of the main final, shield and bowl competitions.

Our spectacular presentations are the perfect way to close the festival and will be a night to remember for all players and their families.

Following a great pilot event for girls teams in 2014, the Tigers Challenge at Butlins Minehead (24-27 April) will host U13 and U15 girls age sections. The festival is open to girls teams of all abilities.

inaugural event in 2012, we have been delighted to see the Tigers

Challenge develop into the largest youth rugby festival of its kind in

which supports and promotes the ethos and values of the game we all

Following a fantastic inaugural event in 2014, we’re delighted to be returning to Butlins Bognor Regis in the school Easter holidays to stage the 2015 Tigers Challenge. There’s no better place to take your team for an action packed tour on the South Coast.

The festival is staged at Felpham Community College, which is just 600m from Butlins. With 12 quality pitches in one location, there’s an electric atmosphere around the venue throughout the weekend.

After an exciting day at the pitches, Butlins Bognor Regis has a huge variety of sports and leisure facilities, superb evening entertainment venues and great places to eat and drink.

There’s the sub tropical Splash Waterworld, with flumes, wave machines and daredevil rides, Funfair with exciting rides, Multi-Sports Court, Aerial Rope Course with climbing wall and zip wire, Go Karts, Ten Pin Bowling, American Pool, Adventure Golf and much more. There’s even a Health Spa on resort for all the mums on tour!

When the sun goes down, a buzz of excitement goes around the resort. You can relax with a drink, or let your hair down whilst enjoying a great family entertainment programme. Some of the UK’s most talented performers appear in the premier entertainment venues. With names and faces you’ll recognise from TV, tribute acts and live bands too, your team can enjoy the hottest entertainment every night, all included in the price.

200 teams from all over the UK joined us at the 2014 Tigers Challenge in Minehead and the feedback couldn’t have been better.

The festival is staged at Minehead Barbarians RFC, Minehead Middle School and Butlins Sports Field. All venues are within 1 mile of Butlins and complimentary shuttle buses are provided throughout the weekend.

After an exciting day of action at the pitches, the onsite facilities at Butlins are fantastic for children of all ages and adults alike. There’s a huge variety of sports and leisure activities, the Splash Waterworld with flumes, slides and wave machines, superb evening entertainment venues and great places to eat and drink. There’s the Aerial Rope Course with the stomach churning ‘leap of faith’ and climbing wall, Multi-Sports Court, Fairground with free rides, Cinema, Go-Kart Track, Adventure Golf, Ten Pin Bowling…. we could go on!

The evening entertainment is another key factor which sets Butlins apart from all other holiday centres. There’s a huge range of entertainment on offer in the premier entertainment venues. From top TV and music stars, to brilliant daytime shows and spectacular evening events, there’s amazing entertainment for the whole family at Butlins.

I wanted to write to you to express our thanks for a fantastic Tigers Challenge tour at Butlins Minehead. Our team managers, coaches, tour committee and parents can’t thank you enough for the hard work that must have gone in to what was an incredibly well organised rugby tour. Everything was perfect right down to the shuttle bus service! Matt Hampson was an emerging talent in the world of rugby, widely recognised as having the capability to go all the way. After progressing through the junior ranks at England U18 and England U19 levels, Matt established himself as the number one prop in the England U21 team.

Then came the moment that changed Matt’s life. In a collapsed scrum, Matt suffered a dislocation of his neck which trapped his spinal cord. It left him paralysed from the neck down, but more determined than ever from the neck up.

It is Matt’s spirit and bravery in the face of adversity that has earned him such recognition and has pulled together the rugby world, who want to take care of

one of their own.

Matt has gone on to create The Matt Hampson Foundation. The Foundation provides invaluable advice,

support, relief and/or treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability,

which has arisen from any cause, but in particular from participation in or training for any sport, sporting

activity or other form of physical education or recreation.

Without question, Matt is an incredible young man. He is an

inspiration to everyone who knows his story. So far, with the fantastic support of the participating teams, we’ve raised over £15,000 for the Foundation at the Tigers Challenge. We’re delighted to be supporting the Matt Hampson Foundation once again in 2015.


HOW TO BOOK 1. Make a Provisional Booking - Call ESF Events and, subject to availability, we will reserve your club a place for 2 weeks free of charge.

2. Register Your Club - Complete and return the Club Registration Form with the Initial Deposit Payment of £250 per age group. You will then be sent a receipt of entry and your accommodation booking information. The £250 Initial Deposit Payment will be refunded once your team(s) have booked their accommodation in full.

3. Book Accommodation - Once the club are registered you will be sent your accommodation booking information. This will enable you to book accommodation with an accommodation deposit of £30 per person. Butlins will acknowledge your booking and notify you of the final balance due.

4. Pay Final Balance - The final balance of your booking will be due 8 weeks before the festival.

IMPORTANT: Accommodation for your whole party, including players, families, coaches and supporters, must be booked through ESF Events. If members of your party do not book their accommodation through ESF Events, the team will not be permitted to participate in the Tigers Challenge.

FESTIVAL FORMAT The U7 - U11 age groups at the Tigers Challenge will be played under the RFU ‘New Rules of Play’ Guidelines. The U12 - U15 age groups will be played under the RFU ‘Age Grade Rules’.

TOUR ITINERARY Friday - No rugby is played on the day of arrival. Accommodation units will be available from 4pm but teams can arrive on resort from Midday and use the facilities at Butlins. There will be a full evening entertainment programme on the Friday. Our welcome meeting for coaches and party leaders will take place on Friday evening.

Saturday & Sunday - The group stages of the festival will take place on the Saturday with the final group standings determining whether teams go on to compete in the Tigers Challenge Finals, Shield or Bowl on the Sunday. The festival format may vary depending on the number of teams registered in each age group. The celebrity presentation ceremony will take place on the Sunday evening. Teams can travel home on the Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Monday - Monday is the departure day. Check out of accommodation is 10.00am but you do not have to leave the resort until Midday, so there’s time for a final trip to Splash Waterworld or the Funfair. TEAM ENTRY FEES There are no Team Entry Fees to enter the Tigers Challenge. All costs involved with staging the festival are included in the accommodation charges.

ACCOMMODATION IMPORTANT: Accommodation for your whole party, including players, families, managers and supporters, must be booked through ESF Events. If members of your party do not book their accommodation through ESF Events, the team will not be permitted to participate in the Tigers Challenge. The only exception to this is ‘local’ teams who are invited to participate in the festival to ensure the best possible format in each age group. Accommodation will be allocated strictly on a first-come first-served basis. All sizes and grades of accommodation are subject to availability. If you select a particular size or grade of accommodation which is no longer available, you will be offered the nearest alternative. Accommodation will always be available once your registration has been accepted but we cannot guarantee your first choice of accommodation.

UNOCCUPIED BEDS: In cases where a unit of accommodation is booked leaving unoccupied beds, a full subsidy will be charged. i.e If 3 people book a 4 berth unit of accommodation, they would have to pay for 4 people. Infants under the age of 2 years, who go free if you bring along your own cot, do not count towards the occupancy of a unit.

At all Butlins resorts you can hire a cot for a fee of £10 (linen is not provided) or pay a supplement of £35 if an infant under 2 sleeps in a bed.

DINING PLANS AT BUTLINS RESORTS Half Board Dining Plans at Butlins include breakfast and evening meal. Evening meal is included on the day of arrival, but not if you arrive after the restaurant is closed. Breakfast is included on the day of departure.

SUPERVISION: ADULT TO CHILD RATIOS At least one responsible adult over the age of 21 must occupy each unit of accommodation. A minimum adult to child ratio of 1 to 2 is required for your party by Butlins.

INSURANCE The Tigers Challenge 2015 is covered for ‘Public Liability’ insurance by ESF Events. However, this does not cover individual teams or ‘person to person’ public liability, personal accident or injury whilst attending the festival. We strongly recommend that all participating teams, if they are not already covered, should take out insurance cover for these risks. We also strongly recommend all members of your party take out appropriate holiday insurance.

CANCELLATION If you cancel your booking due to illness, accident or change of circumstances, and if you have taken insurance cover, payments for accommodation arising from the cancellation may be covered. Registration Deposits will not be refunded for cancellations. As soon as you need to cancel you must call ESF Events on 01664 566360. Cancellation charges are calculated from the day ESF Events receive written instructions to cancel a booking.

WRISTBANDS You will be allocated one wristband for each member of your party booked through ESF Events. Please be aware that people without a wristband will not be able to participate in the festival, attend the presentation ceremony or enter evening entertainment venues at the holiday centre.

TEAM REGISTRATION Participating teams are required to complete a full player registration document that includes players name, DOB, parental email address. As part of the Tigers Challenge, all juniors will also get FREE membership to the Junior Tigers Club which will entitle them to exclusive benefits including the latest Tigers and rugby news, access to the Junior Tigers Club VIP area on matchdays as well as the chance to enter the matchday mascot draw. BEHAVIOUR & CONDUCT WHILE ON TOUR It is the responsibility of the Group Leader and adults in the party to ensure the behaviour of all members of your party is acceptable at all times at the festival. Clubs will be charged for any damages caused by members of their party. In extreme cases of unacceptable behaviour, the Resort Management & ESF Events reserve the right to terminate a holiday, whereby part or all of a Team/Club may be required to leave the premises without refund.

FORCE MAJEUR We do not accept liability for any loss, damage or expense arising from a change or cancellation to your tour which occurs due to unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control and that of our suppliers. Such events would include, for example, war, threat of war, riots, civil strife, pandemics, industrial disputes, terrorist activity, fire or adverse weather conditions, natural or nuclear disaster, decisions of RFU’s or similar events beyond our control.

BROCHURE ACCURACY To the best of our knowledge, all information in this brochure is accurate at the time of print. Please be aware that there may be occasions when the facilities listed in this brochure are modified or unavailable due to factors beyond our control.

DATA PROTECTION ESF Events will use the personal information that you provide to process your booking and provide your tour. We may also need to pass your information to third party service providers such as Butlins and Leicester Tigers. The Group Leader for each booking has the authority to discuss all accommodation bookings made under the team booking with ESF and representatives from the holiday centres if required. It is the Group Leaders responsibility to inform all other members of your party what information you are providing, and what we may use it for.

FINANCIAL PROTECTION As a member of the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT), an Association approved by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, ESF Events has provided a Bond to meet the requirements of the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 (PTR). This Bond provides security for and is restricted to monies paid by its UK customers in the event of ESF Events’ insolvency. N.B. Accommodation bookings for ESF Events Festivals at Butlins are not covered by this Bond as payment is made directly to Butlins for the accommodation.

An initial deposit payment of £250 per age group is required to reserve team places at the Tigers Challenge. The Initial Deposit Payment will be refunded by ESF Events Ltd once the accommodation for your whole party has been booked with Butlins.

Upon receipt of this Registration Form, successful applicants will receive confirmation of entry via email. Accommodation booking information will then be forwarded to the Group Leader.
