    15. A NOTE FOR JUDGES AND COMPETITORS

Whilst every effort has been made to address the origins of each event listed below, please

understand that there have been subtle changes made over time to ensure more

consistency in the application of specific penalties, starting positions and track markings.

This is designed to make it easier for competitors to run the events and easier for judges to

    officiate over the events.

Please also be aware that while each event has a description of how it can be run, this is a

suggestion only and teams are encouraged to experiment providing it is within the range of

penalties listed. The aim is to complete the objective of each event in the quickest possible

time incurring the least amount of penalties.

Best wishes for the Championship and good luck!

    16. COMPETITION EVENTS

    16.1 Event 1 Collector Event 4 Competitors 1 Lane

The Collector Event has been in the program for every Championship since 2003. A

Queensland-based event that can be somewhat confusing for spectators as water can be

    d

water from the standpipe is fed to the pump. Current champions are Echuca completing the

event in a time of 8.799 seconds.

    Objective

A crew of four Firefighters use water supplied from the tank and delivered through a 38mm

hose and branch to hit a target and stop the clock while achieving this they also have to

achieve getting water in to the appliance within 40 seconds via a standpipe and 2 x 64mm

inlet hoses. First aid valve will be closed at start of event.

    Suggested way to run event

    On start command:

Firefighter 1: Takes branch and sufficient flaked hose and proceeds to the Branch Line

    and strikes target with water.

Firefighter 2: Retrieves 2 x 64mm rolled feed hoses, bowls hoses towards standpipe and

connects hoses to pump inlet, runs feed hoses, opens tank to pump valve

and delivery valve and pump throttle will be already set (the delivery valve

can be opened any time after the delivery hose has been connected). Opens

inlet valves to replenish water in tank prior to completion of run.

Firefighter 3: Retrieves standpipe and proceeds to Hydrant Line, ships standpipe. Obtains

couplings, connects feed hoses to standpipe and turns water on and off as

    16.2 Event 2 First Aid Reel & Pumper 4 Competitors 1 Lane

This event featured at the 2013 Championships in Tasmania. The event originates from

NSW and was won in a time of 34.394 seconds with MFB Victoria victorious.

    Objective

A crew of four Firefighters using water from the appliance tank delivered via a hose reel on

the appliance to strike the first knock down target. Water is then sourced from a standpipe

and 2 x 64mm feed hose, relayed through the appliance pump to one length of 38mm

delivery hose and branch to strike the second target and stop the clock. The times from the

1st and 2nd targets are added together to give the final time.

    Suggested way to run event

    On start command:

Firefighter 1: Proceeds to appliance and retrieves rolled 64mm feed hose from nearside locker 4, bowls out hose and leaves one end at the pump, takes the other end of both feed hoses to the Hydrant Line and connects to the standpipe. Turns water on and off as needed.

Firefighter 2: Proceeds to appliance and retrieves the standpipe from nearside locker 1

and proceeds to the hydrant line, removes hydrant cover and ships

standpipe. Returns to appliance and connects 38mm flaked hose to outlet,

removes hose and together with firefighter 4 run it out and strike second

    target

Firefighter 3: Proceeds to rear of appliance, opens high pressure line valve (first-aid reel).

Bowls one 64mm feed hose, couple both feed hoses to pump inlets. Once

the first target is struck, the tank to pump valve is closed, the inlet valve is

opened (live line) and the delivery valve for the 38mm line is opened.

Firefighter 4: Proceeds to appliance and retrieves first aid reel and runs out to the 1st

Branch Line and strikes 1st target with water, then shuts off branch and

places on ground at the 1st Branch Line. Returns to the appliance and

retrieves 38mm hose. Takes branch and flaked hose, proceeds to the 2nd

Branch Line and strikes the 2nd target with water to stop the clock.

. In 2013 the event was won by Echuca in the time of

    30.298 seconds.

    Objective

Through two evolutions, a crew of four Firefighters in the first evolution use water from the appliance tank delivered via a hose reel on the appliance to strike the first knock down target

1st Branch Line. Only once the first target has been struck or the is back at the Hydrant Line can the second evolution commence. Competitors use water, delivered from a standpipe and 64mm feed hose, which is relayed through the pump to a length of 38mm hose and branch to strike the 2nd target with water and stop the clock.

    Suggested way to run event

    On start command:

    Evolution 1

Firefighter 1: Proceeds to rear of appliance and retrieves the stretcher and proceeds to

casualty, at 1st Branch Line, places stretcher on ground and with assistance

from Firefighter 2 places casualty on stretcher and proceeds back to Hydrant

    Line with stretcher.

Firefighter 2: Assists Firefighter 1 with moving of casualty.

Firefighter 3: Proceeds to pump, opens hose reel valve and operates pump throttle to

    deliver water from tank supply.

Firefighter 4: Proceeds to appliance and retrieves hose reel, then proceeds to 1st Branch

Line and strikes 1st target with water, shuts off branch and places on the

ground at the 1st Branch Line and returns to appliance.

    Evolution 2

Firefighter 1: Retrieves the rolled 64mm feed hose from locker, bowls out hose and leaves

one end at the pump then runs out other end to the hydrant line and
