We offer a comprehensive fabrication and installation service for the Odour Filters and Sealed Safety Lids. All our products are locally manufactured in Australia.SEALED SAFETY LIDS We provide a complete package including design, manufacture and installation of our safety lids. Or we supply and deliver our sealed safety lids to site for installation by others.ODOUR FILTERSWe can monitor and assess your airflow rates and H2S concentrations and recommend the correct size filter for your site. We can install Australia wide and ship worldwide. When McBerns manages a safety lid or filter installation we co-ordinate with your maintenance staff and supervise all the on-sitelogistics such as site preparation, crane hire, traffic management, removal of old access covers and clean up of site where appropriate. We can recommend and undertake a maintenance or replacement program for your odour filters.

We offer an Odour Monitoring & Maintenance Service for our Odour Filters.We will attend sites to record and test H2S odour concentrations and airflow rates and provide an odour log report so you have up to-date knowledge on the filter’s performance.

MEDIA REPLACEMENTWe manufacture our own specially formulated media cartridges.We can supply new cartridges and carbon for you to replace or we will send our maintenance crew to replace the media material and the safe removal and disposal of saturated material.

ODOUR FILTERS

The McBerns Odour Filters are designed and manufactured in Australia and distributed worldwide. The Odour Filter Range has comprehensive sizes and capacities to tackle almost any odour problem.

Over time we have collected extensive odour logging data to demonstrate the effectiveness of our odour filters. They are a fast, effective solution for odour emissions on vent stacks, pump stations, air valves, receiving manholes, sewer lines, holding tanks and overflow tanks.

The secret to the filters’ success is the uniquely formulated media cartridges which work with activated carbon media to produce a continuous treatment process. The H2S gases & other noxious compounds undergo their initial treatment by passing through the activated carbon. The final treatment is carried out by the McBerns media cartridges which capture and neutralise the odours by changing their molecular structure. The result is that only clean air is released back into the atmosphere.

The filters can be operated as passive units with no mains power or water required for effective treatment. Wind assisted or electric “EXE” extraction fans can be used at high flow sites. They are robustly constructed to suit the harsh environment. The filters come in varying sizes and can be easily adapted to suit individual sites.

SMALL VENT ODOUR FILTERS VF50 VENT FILTERDesigned to be used in domestic situations on house toilet or septic vents and grease trap vents where odours are escaping. (Not Rechargeable, No Fan available)

VF100 ODOUR FILTER Designed for use in domestic situations as described for the VF50. Suited for a 100mm dia vent and can be adapted for different vent pipes sizes.A replacement 100mm media cartridge is available.

VF150 ODOUR FILTER This larger filter is very versatile and is used in commercial situations on grease traps and small pump stations. Fits pipe size of 150mm dia and can be adapted to suit other sizes. A replacement 150mm media cartridge is available.

VENT POLEMcBerns is now manufacturing a vent pole that can be retro-fitted toreplace old corroded poles.

Constructed of galvanised pipe or stainless steel 6 metres high x DN150mm Dia which allows for a 100mm PVC lining to be inserted into pipe to prevent H2S gases corroding internally.A table “D” flange base secures it atground level.

Suitability and capacity of existing surface and structure will need tobe assessed by a structural engineer.

GROUND MOUNT ODOUR FILTERSThe Ground Mount Filters are suitable for commercial scale odour problems, are robust and will last many years exposed to the harsh elements. Like the smaller filters the GM Filters are an active process continually adsorbing and treating the H2S and other foul odours.

Increasingly the Ground Mounted Filters are being used to replace old corroded vent stacks at ground level improving WH&S issues. All future maintenance and servicing is carried outat ground level making the job easier, safer and more cost effective to manage odours.

VF 150 GROUND MOUNT OPTIONThe VF150 can be mounted at ground level where a vent pole is no longer appropiate. A vandal proof cover can be supplied for outside use, they ca also be used inside pump station buildings.

GM300 ODOUR FILTER The GM300 has a larger treatment capacityand is capable of handling flows up to 20l/s medium H2S levels.They have been designed to be installed on receiving manholes and pump stations.

GM375 ODOUR FILTERThe GM375 Filter is larger and containsfour times more media than the GM300. It is designed for more extreme situations with greater airflow, it has a capacity up to 40 litres per sec and high H2S levels. Suited for air valves, receiving manholes and pump stations.

ZC-SERIES ODOUR CONTROL FILTERSThe McBerns ZC–Series Filter Range has a proven reputation for treating odours fast and for being cost effective. The ZC series filters achieve up to 99% H2S gas removal through adsorption and treatment processes when installed and operated in accordance with product specifications.

The toxic gases and odorous compounds, including hydrogen sulphide gas, acidic gases and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) are adsorbed and treated by the mixed media filters. The filters utilise a combination of natural minerals, oxidising agents and micro-porous, impregnated, pelletised activated carbon media.

They are designed for trunk sewerage systems, sewer air release valves, manholes, pump stations, packaged treatment systems, sewer pressure main discharge MH’s and treatment plants.

In the ZC Series Filter Range there are five sizes to suit almost any situation or odour problem. They are modular and can be fitted as stand alone or installed in parallel if required. The units are fully rechargeable with our specially formulated McBerns cartridges and filter media.

The ZC300, ZC1200, ZC1500 and ZC4000 Unitsare constructed from stainless steel with a combination of uPVC replaceable cartridges and an activated carbon treatment zone.

All ZC odour filters have an anti-corrosion internal coating with stainless steelfixtures and the outlets/drain valves are a combination of uPVC and Polyethylene(PE).

ZC200 DRUM ODOUR FILTER UNITThe McBerns ZC200 Drum Odour Unit is a rechargeable modular drum. Containing McBerns specially formulated media and carbon which captures odour providing a fast and economical solution. The Drum Scrubber can operate as a passive unit or with a wind assisted fan. Recommended usage is for air valves, pump stations man holes. The scrubber is fully charged when delivered and can be connected quickly, with little or no disruption to operations. Constructed of mild steel with a Rust Bullet inner coating to reduce corrosion. The inlet and outlet pipes are 100mm PVC.

ZC-300; ZC1200 & ZC1500 ODOUR FILTER UNITSThe ZC300, ZC1200 and ZC1500 are passive units capturing large gas surges which occur with high volume sewage flows. They can be used as an extraction system in combination with a 3/phase ‘ExE’ fan. The ZC-series filters are capable of handling air flows of 20l/s up to 260l/s plus and high H2S ppm. They are a modular design and can be joined parallel to increase overall treatment capacity.

INTERNAL LINING The interior of the ZC Filters are sprayed with a super tough polymer, which is chemical resistant. The lining reduces the corrosive effect of H2S gases on the inside of the odour filters makingthem stronger and longer lasting.

ZC4000 ODOUR FILTER UNIT

The ZC-Series Odour Filters Units have proven to be excellent at mitigating H2S gas for both high concentrations and high air flow rates. We have now released our biggest odour unit the ZC4000.

The ZC4000 is suitable for much larger applications in municipal wastewater, mining, commercial and industrial sectors, wherever odour is a problem. It has been designed to manage odours at large sewage pump stations, treatment plants, package treatment plants, trunk sewers, discharge manholes, vent stacks or other large maintenance structures.

The ZC4000 will also be available for temporary applications while construction or maintenance is in progress. We currently have a ZC4000 unit operational at a large water authority in S.E.Qld whilst a major pump station upgrade is being undertaken.

Housed in a half-sized shipping container which is approximately 3mw x 2.4 md x 2.4mh. The ZC4000’s advantage is, it comes complete and can be delivered and connected quickly, with little or no disruption to operations. We are also offering short or long term hire of the ZC4000 mobile units.

Our latest logging data collected was in December 2014. The data was collected simultaneously, so data comparisons could be verified.

From the inlet side of a ZC1200 there were spikes of H2S in excess of 900ppm, while from the outlet side the H2S levels were reduced to 0ppm. We have been regularly monitoring this site for over 18 months and the data collected has been consistent over this period of time.

The filter was installed in June 2013. The media has not been changed in the past 18 months and is still capturing and treating the H2S & VOC’s at very high concentrations. The outlet readings are still recording zero H2S escaping from the filter.

The McBerns odour filters are designed to achieve a minimum H2S gas reduction of greater than 95% at the specified gas concentration and for a nominated contact time of 3, 5 or 10 seconds depending on the waste stream air flow rate, while operating within a temperature range of 15 – 45°C.

McBerns has manufactured Pump Station Safety Lids for over 12 years and they just keep improving. Our lid designs have set new standards in void protection lids and are being specified by many Water & Wastewater Authorities and Consulting Engineers.

We are now producing our own exclusive frame extrusion for the manufacture of the LFM and the LFVP lids. This makes our lids structurally stronger reducing weld failures, fewer welds gives better sealing, streamlines production and quality outputs.

The innovative designs allow for easy access into deep voids while keeping the work crews safe. They can be incorporated into new pump station designs or retro-fitted to existing sites when replacing old heavy unprotected covers.

The McBerns Safety Lid is suited for any situation where there is need for void fall protection. They are used extensively in the water and wastewater industry for pump stations, valve pits, sewerage treatment plants, and water reservoir tanks. Other areas of use are the mining and construction industries or wherever fall protection is a safety issue.All our lids are constructed from robust lightweight aluminium alloy with stainless steel fittings. There are three design options available. The custom made lids are designed and manufactured to suit site requirements.

INTRODUCING STANDARD SIZE ACCESS COVER: McBerns is now producing a Standard LFVP size of 1m x 1.05mwhich when open, will conform to AN/NZS 3996 standard safety grate height. By standardizing the cover size it improves efficiencies in manufacture and supply without sacrificing safety.

MANHOLE SAFETY GRATESMcBerns have designed a safety grate for use on manhole covers. The size and shapes are to fit standard manhole covers. They are carried by maintenance trucks so work crews can easily place them over an open manhole while carrying out their regular on site duties.

They are constructed from strong but lightweight aluminium with guide rollers incorporated for smooth access of water hoses and pump out hoses or can be completely removed to allow good access into the void below.

The McBerns AutoWellWasher™ has been in the market place for 24 years and it is still the preferred method to assist in keeping pump stations fat free and improve the maintenance of expensive infrastructure. It is wholly designed and manufactured in Australia and has Australian, United States & International Patents. The AWW design uses only clean water or recycled treated effluent at mains pressure to keep pump stations clean, making the wet well environment safer for work crews to carry out maintenance tasks. The principle behind the design is simple: if the fat is washed away before it has a chance to solidify it is easily removed from the walls and pumps.

By not allowing fat and grease to build up and solidify on the well walls no large fatty deposits are forced through the system, reducing blockages downstream and less stress at the treatment plant. The level sensors are always clean so the pumps work more efficiently resulting in less callouts.

It has also been shown to significantly reduce sulphide corrosion on concrete walls, pumps and other internal infrastructure components. There are fewer confined space entries required, only when essential maintenance tasks are needed. Also the internal atmosphere is cleaner reducing the risk of H2S gas poisoning.

The total water usage for a single washer is as little as 100lts per day without compromising the cleaning effectiveness. During the extreme drought conditions in S.E. Qld in the early 2000’s one council tweaked the washers down to 1x1 minute wash per day and the washer still kept the pump stations clean.

RUST BULLET® is a unique single component high solids industrial coating and is unparalleled in the coatings industry (containing 70% aluminium solids). It is an advanced coating, which provides far more than just rust protection.

Very different from traditional rust conversion or rust encapsulation products, Rust Bullet's Patented Technologies are the most effective and efficient method available today to prevent the corrosion of metals, concrete and deterioration of wood, fibreglass, PVCs and most other substrates.

Rust Bullet products protect solid surfaces from oxidation and chemical attack. It provides protection from steel rust, iron rust, metal rust and metals corrosion. It is more effective, easier to apply, and less costly than epoxy coatings and other corrosion control products.

When applied, Rust Bullet® does not form a film immediately, but rather it penetrates the porous rust reaching the metal underneath. This US Patented Technology dehydrates the rust by chemical activity, allowing the surface to solidify into a tough coating with phenomenal adhesion. The rust then becomes intertwined in the resin matrix and remains a permanent part of the coating. The second coat of Rust Bullet® fills any pinholes in the first coat and forms a nearly impenetrable coating that protects the metal. It is designed to apply directly onto rusted or clean surfaces with brush, roller or spray equipment.

Vortice range of inline mixed flow fans offer a means of exhausting or supplying air at medium static pressure. They are constructed in VO grade plastic to guarantee the highest available rating for self extinguishing as well as excellent mechanical strength. Motors have been fitted with ball bearing for a minimum 30,000 hours operation. Protection rating is IPX4 and all models are two speed. Maximum operating temperature is 60°C.

McBerns PumpBoots are an innovative polyurethane seal designed to improve pump maintenance. If the pump bowl or pedestal face on a submersible pump is worn and will not seal, then the boots are quick, easy and safe to fit, the pump station doesn’t have to be shut down for an extended time. PumpBoots are manufactured to suit 220mm, 235mm, 285mm and 80mm FLYGT discharge pumps. They are strong, durable and will extend the life of older worn pumps.Fitted to new pumps will protect them from wear & tear.
