Wow, traffic was heavy on the way to work this morning. I had to follow two hedgehogs, dodge a rabbit that cut me off, and deal with road rage from a sleepy possum! What a lovely way it is to start your day...walking across the field; 2 minutes and you are at work. The move to the school house has been relatively stress free (well as stress free as moving can be), and I want to extend a BIG thank you to Simon Main and Kevin Mounsey for helping my family move. It’s not all trouble free though. The shower at the school house...well lets say a 90 year old with prostate issues probably flows better than the shower at the house. Still, you can’t win them all. Recently we have had a number of visitors in the school looking at a range of things; from our modernised classrooms, to our M.I.L.C. system, to just generally looking at what we do. The feedback has been fantastic. Staff from Tauhei school were very impressed with our revamped rooms and we have inspired them to try and achieve something similar in their own school. Visitors from the Education Review Office and Te Toi Tupu (education support contract company), all had positive things to say about out learning and teaching programmes and the way many of our students were able to talk knowledgably about their learning. The next few weeks are pretty busy, with several events on the calendar. You may notice a change in date for the movie night and welcome to the community / community get together hangi. It now falls on Thursday the 18th. Picking a date for events can be a challenge and we consider things like sports trainings and other potential commitments. We would really like to see a great turn out on Thursday night, so if you can make it please come along for a great kai, a few beverages and a good night out to catch up with friends and neighbours. Have a great weekend. Terry

HOME AND SCHOOL NEWS
MOVIE NIGHT AND HANGI Thursday 18th June
To celebrate Matariki (Maori New Year), and to welcome new people to the community (and have a good old social time with those of you who have been around for a while!), we will be having a hangi/movie night at school. We will be putting down the hangi during the day with the serving of dinner from 5pm . We will then have two movie choices for the juniors and seniors. Films to start at 6pm.
Any donations of Roasts, Potato’s, Pumpkin, Kumara or Carrots will be greatly appreciated. All Welcome! The Home and School are wanting you all to clean out your wardrobes to make room for all those winter clothes. If you have any clothes from babies to adults that you do not want any more the Kaihere Home and School would love you to donate them to us so that they can be used for an up coming fundraiser. We also would love puzzles, books and any old toys. Any donations can be dropped off at the school office.
Would you like to sponsor the NEW Kaihere School sports uniform? Please contact the school office if you would like
