Don’t miss out on the chance to meet other women, build friendships, pracce English, and have fun! The group will meet up outside the east door of Marquis Hall and the meeng will last from 5:30-7:00 pm on Monday, October 26. Sign up for the email group through [email protected] or visit MARQ 202 and talk to Jessalyn or Raven. IELI Pumpkin Carving Party: IELI is having a pumpkin carving party! Join us as we celebrate fall with one of the biggest American tradions! We will be carving pumpkins and making fun fall decoraons on Tuesday, October 27, from 5:00-6:30 PM outside of Marquis Hall. Coffee and Culture Discussion Group: IELI students, are you red of only praccing English in class? Coffee & Culture gives you an opportunity to pracce your English skills with American students. We have coffee and snacks and talk about a variety of subjects. This is a great way to make new friends, have fun while using English. You do not need to sign up! Coffee & Culture will be every Thursday from 5:00—6:00 PM in MARQ 215. “Dia de Los Muertos” Welcome Party: On Friday, October 30 from 12:00—1:00 PM, IELI will host the “Dia de Los Muertos” Welcome Back Party. Wear your Halloween costume, enter the costume contest, and join us in the Sage Hall Commons for lunch as we kick off another great term at IELI and celebrate Mexico’s “Day of the Dead!” Calendar of Acvies Want to know about even more acvies? If you are a new student and you didn’t know your permanent address when you filled out your registraon forms, please go to the IELI Main Office and fill out an “Address Maintenance” form with your new address. Smoke-Free UNT UNT is a smoke-free campus. Absolutely no one is allowed to smoke on campus. This includes inside buildings, on sidewalks, or in parking lots. This means you cannot smoke outside of Marquis Hall between classes. You are allowed to smoke across the street (CVS, Jack in the Box, Subway, Chipotle) from UNT’s campus or in your closed car on campus. Insurance Waiver Students who are eligible for the Health Insurance Waiver for Fall II 2015 must turn in the signed waiver form and proof of insurance by Friday, October 30 to Alissa’s office, MARQ 105A. Please speak with Alissa if you have any quesons. Bad Weather Make sure your contact informaon is updated on Eagle Alert at my.unt.edu. When UNT is closed for bad weather, Eagle Alert will send you an email, a text message, or a phone call so that you will know immediately when UNT is closed for bad weather and you won’t have to travel to campus. If school is closed for bad weather, all students are responsible for keeping up with assignments on Blackboard. Just because the school is closed doesn’t mean there aren’t assignments due for class. “My IELI” All IELI students are automatically enrolled in the new Blackboard org “My IELI.” This is where IELI will be able to communicate with all IELI students by posting announcements, weekly memos, important messages, and surveys. Be sure to check your “My IELI” every day to make sure you are up-to-date on everything going on in IELI and with UNT. If you have any questions about “My IELI” or Blackboard, visit the multimedia lab, MARQ 338, and the lab assistants will be able to help you.

UNT Activities

Pixels & Pieces: Do you like board games? Would you like to help create one? Visit the Media Library on Thursday, October 29 from 6:00– 8:00 PM to learn how to make these games and meet new friends with similar gaming interests. Visit http://calendar.unt.edu/pixels-pieces for more information.

Boo Bash: At 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, UNT will be hosting a Halloween festival for local children. The event is sponsored by UNT student organizations that will have candy and prizes for kids. Bring your kids to the UNT Coliseum to join all the fun!

UPC Film Series: At 8:00 PM on Friday, October 30, the UPC Film Series will be showing a Halloween classic, Rocky Horror Picture Show! Shiver with antici...pation and join us as we do the time warp. Come experience Rocky Horror and don’t forget your blankets and chairs.

“IELI’s Wonders” Students, remember to submit your stories online to be published in the student publication, “IELI’s Wonders.” The small booklet will be published at the end of the Spring II term online. There are several categories to choose from including personal statements, fiction, poetry, field trip reviews, essays, and more! Go to “My IELI” to learn more about how to submit your stories. If you have any questions about using Blackboard, visit the computer lab in MARQ 338. If you have questions about the publication, please visit the IELI Main Office (MARQ 145) or send an email to [email protected].
