2015 EVENTS

Join the movement to improve downtownWashington Harbor District Alliance (WHDA) is a non-profit organization. Our sole purpose is to support downtown Washington by concentrating on four areas of work:

Promotion: Establishing downtown as an enticing place for shoppers, investors and visitors. This means not only bolstering sales but also rekindling community excitement and involvement.

Organization: Building partnerships to create a consistent revitalization program and develop effective management and leadership downtown.

Design: Enhancing the visual quality of the downtown.

Economic Restructuring: Strengthening the existing economic assets of the business district while diversifying its economic base.

WHDA is a volunteer driven organization. These volunteers, with the help of one staff member have worked diligently to advance WHDA.

WHDA has enjoyed many milestones in the past five years. WHDA has; Created the Maritime Team that has succeeded in advocating for a new manage-ment structure for the Waterfront Docks and has facilitated the planning of the new Lighthouse Bathroom Facility; Is close to instituting the new Wayfinding plan for Washington; Helped build Festival Park by contributing money and volunteer hours; Established a consistent branding effort for the Harbor District; Successfully instituted a corporate sponsorship program that has revolutionized our ability to maintain needed funding for events and expand our marketing; Resolutely re-cruited businesses; Consistently advanced the Harbor District and the Washington Visualization and Reinvestment Strategy adopted in 2009But, we still have a long way to go...

WHDA is seeking your participation as a committed partner by asking for your financial support. Anyone who recognizes the importance of a thriving harbor district in Beaufort County shares WHDA’s purpose. We ask you to join with the volunteers, property owners, merchants and other organizations who have given their time & money to support the Harbor District Alliance.
