Stan was born in Crystal City, but his family moved to the Killarney area when he was young. Stan graduated from Brandon

University with a science degree in 1978 and then farmed for a few years with his family. He attended University of Manitoba for two more years to get his degree in Agriculture.

Stan married Carol in 1983. They spent three years in Indonesia doing community development work with Mennonite Central Committee. Carol focused on healthcare, while Stan worked in agriculture. They returned to Killarney to farm and raise their family. Stan and Carol’s travel time is often spent visiting their three grown boys: Matthew, Jonathan and Benjamin.

In the past Stan has coached or helped with the boys’ sporting events, especially curling, which he also enjoys. Stan has been a part of a local marketing club for many years and a member of many church committees and boards.

Stan describes his first 3 years on the Westoba board as challenging and informative and he is sure the future will be as well. Stan looks forward to these new challenges and being part of the future of Westoba Credit Union.

In 1989, Bruce and his wife purchased the Corner Pocket Restaurant and have been the managing owners of this business ever since.

Over the years, Bruce has been involved in many community groups. He served on the Board of the United Church, and was an active member of both the Kinsmen Club, and local volunteer fire department.
