3Topeka Community Foundation 2015 Report to the Community

Our community gives for a variety of reasons – philanthropy, generosity, compassion. today, as we reflect on the past year, we are happy to report generous giving has allowed the topeka Community Foundation to prosper

in 2015. Gifts to funds at the Foundation exceeded $6 million for the fourth year in a row. We have a solid financial base allowing us to continue our outstanding grantmaking to the community.

as a grantmaking organization, we are proud to report that more than $3 million was awarded in grants to numerous organizations, primarily in shawnee County. More than $1.3 million was awarded from donor advised funds; $145,629 from scholarship funds; $1.2 million from designated funds; $136,901 from field of interest funds; and $28,461 from unrestricted funds. these grants have strengthened many nonprofits allowing them to continue important programs and services to our community. you can learn about several of these grants in the following pages.

there are many people who deserve our thanks for their support of the Foundation, support which makes it possible to award millions of dollars of grants each year that positively impact the quality of life in our community. Without their support and philanthropy, our grantmaking would not be possible. First, are our donors. It is through them that the quality of life in our community is manifested. second are our Board and committee members who volunteer their time to assure that the Foundation’s work is carried out in a manner consistent with our mission. Finally, we want to thank the many local agencies whose programs reach those in our community who need help the most.

We welcomed Barry Feaker, Brett Klausman and sarah Lucero to our Board of Directors effective January 1, 2016 and look forward to their leadership and insight. they each bring a broad and diversified perspective to the Foundation which will help enable it to continue its great work in our community.

thank you again for your support and we look forward to another good year in 2016.
