Those who opt for the Buffalo Bull after having searched for a suitable and reliable starter battery for their commer-cial vehicles will have made just the right decision. This is because the Buffalo Bull is a brand battery with proven Banner quality. Rugged, constant use in commercial vehicles puts batteries to the severest test. Moreover, over the years the de-mands made on modern batteries have increased greatly and in addition to cycle and vibration resistance, cha-racteristics such as ease of maintenance, operational reliability and cold start performance are more important than ever. The optimised Buffalo Bull SHD constitutes the perfect response. The Buffalo Bull SHD PROfessional is a top product that starts to show its problem-solving capacity in tough situ-ations such as stop & go and cold starts, etc., when other batteries have long given up. It has thus consolidated its solid position in the lucrative retrofitting market. Banner has equipped the Buffalo Bull with unbeatable advantages that make this battery ideal for modern trucks and buses.

BUFFALO BULL – NEW POWER FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
Tough, constant use in commercial vehicles puts batteries to the severest test. In recent years, the Banner Buffalo Bull has met these challenges with bravura. However, the demands made on modern batteries are changing and in addition to cycle and vibration resistance, characteristics such as cold start performance, ease of maintenance and operational reliability are more important than ever. In addition, today, starter batteries must supply an increasing number of extra consumers and comfort features with power.
Banner has come up with the solution in the form of a new version of the Buffalo Bull and an op-timised com bination of various battery elements, which add up to greater performance for the new commercial vehicle generation.

BUFFALO BULL –POWER FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE
The Buffalo SHD (Super Heavy Duty) has been designed by Banner for commercial vehicles with particularly high power requirements such as travel and urban buses, trucks with loading platforms, refrigerated trucks, long-haul trucks, construction machinery, snow smoothing vehicles, etc. It is the high-performance battery for extreme operational conditions that guarantees that important little bit of extra power and service life.
- Zero maintenance: hybrid technology guarantees minimum water consumption.- Vibration resistance: in line with the strictest European testing standards.- Cyclical resistance: guaranteed power supply to the in-board systems without any detrimental
effects on starting performance.- Optimum performance: a perfect combination of capacity and cold start power trimmed
especially to the needs of commercial vehicles.- Deep discharge resistance.- Operational reliability: the use of special surge protectors prevents possible acid leaks
when the battery is installed. - Backfi re protection: through integrated safeguards in the surge protectors and the
battery cover. - Environment- and user-friendliness: the Buffalo Bull SHD is delivered in a fi lled
and charged condition, thus removing the need for acid handling.

TECHNOLOGY FOR MORE POWER
Hybrid technology – for increased performance
The markedly superior performance of the Buffalo Bull is based on Banner’s hybrid technology.
This provides two special advantages:
- Minimum water consumption and thus optimum ease of maintenance. - Extensive storage capacity as a result of a clear reduction in self-discharge.
As a result, under normal operating conditions, the Buffalo Bull is maintenance-free for the majority of applications, i.e. battery water refi lling is not required during its service life. Please note Banner’s maintenance recommendations for intensive and extreme use.

TECHNOLOGY FOR INCREASED QUALITY
Separators
The choice of separator is of decisive importance with regard to battery characteristics. In the case of the Buffalo Bull The choice of separator is of decisive importance with regard to battery
, Banner has opted for PE bag separators. This solution enhances vibration resistance, without neglecting the cold start characteristics vital to commercial vehicle batteries. Moreover, in the Buffalo Bull SHD, the separa-tors have a special nonwoven covering.
- Excellent vibration resistance due to set bonding. - Greater cyclical resistance through the use of - a nonwoven.- High short circuit safety.

TECHNOLOGY FOR ENHANCED SAFETY
Surge protectors
Special surge protector safety screws are used in the Buffalo Bull . They have been developed by Banner in order to hinder battery acid leaks under extreme vibrations or vehicle tilting. In addition, reliab-le fl ame arrester is integrated into the surge protectors. These screws were designed to meet the requirements of a leading commercial vehicle OEM, which is using them in the usual, proven manner.
- Improved operational safety. - Integrated fl ame arrester.

Tips to ensure that the Buffalo Bull continues to be a reliable power source even under the toughest and most inten-sive operating conditions!
Cool and dry storage >> Always keep fi lled, ready to use batteries in dry and cool storage (cellar temperature). This reduces self-discharge.
Installation and servicing >>
· Always install two batteries, never replace just one. · Open circuit voltage during installation: min.12.55 V.· To check charging levels, measure the open circuit voltage (min. 5 h standing time or only
with essential consumers).· Charging levels can be determined by acid density measurement
(not below 1.23 –1.25 at approx. 25 °C).· Use deep discharge protection wherever possible· If batteries are discharged to below 12.50 V (25.0 V) they must be removed and charged
separately· Electrolyte refi lling = add distilled water up to the acid level mark, subsequently charge up
the battery (otherwise electrolyte layering!) Check at regular intervals! In the case of extreme operational conditions, Buffalo Bull SHD batteries must also be examined periodically!
Avoid deep discharge >>
Deep discharge (12.0 V / 24.0 V) must be avoided during battery standing times. Should deep charging occur, the battery will be permanently damaged. Discharged batteries must be re-charged immediately, otherwise they will lose capacity! For preference, employ deep discharge protection!

STRIKING DURABILITY
Full power demands top performance >>
In its range, Banner has the appropriate chargers and testing devices from leading producers. A current overview is available on the company website under www.bannerbatteries.com
Correct battery charging >>
· Check the electrolyte level before charging and if necessary, top up with distilled water to the max. acid level mark or 15 mm above the plate surface.
· The battery must be removed for recharging, in order to prevent damage to the vehicle. WARNING! Follow the instructions of the vehicle manufacturer when disconnecting.
· Batteries may only be charged with d.c. Connect the positive terminal (+) of the battery with the positive terminal (+) of the charger and the negative terminal (-) of the battery with the negative terminal (-) of the charger.
· Only switch on the charger once the battery has been connected. At the end of charging, turn the charger off fi rst.
· A tenth of capacity is recommended as charging current (e.g. 180 Ah: 10 = 18 A charging current)
· The acid temperature may not exceed 55 °C during charging. Should this occur, charging must be interrupted.
· Charging is complete when the power approaches 0, is no longer accepted, or the auto-matic charging device shuts down.
· Ensure good ventilation when charging. WARNING! Highly explosive oxyhydrogen gas forms during charging. Fire, sparks, open lights and smoking are therefore forbidden!
