Westmoreland County Community College is dedicated to providingopportunities that enable you to attain your educational goals. Weare committed to providing area residents with a quality educationthat is both accessible and affordable for everyone.
As a WCCC student, you can select from a variety of degree,diploma and certificate programs. We offer more than 65 transferand career-track associate degree programs and stackable certificatesthat provide you with “on ramps and off ramps” to immediate em-ployment and advanced education.For those students seeking a bachelor’s degree, we have articulationagreements with numerous prestigious colleges and universities tohelp ease the transfer process.
The WCCC Educational Foundation is committed to you and youreducational pursuits by removing financial barriers to your success. Inthis book, you’ll find numerous scholarship opportunities to help youachieve your goals. Scholarships may be awarded for financial need,academic performance, a specific program of study or other criteria. More than $200,000 in scholarship assistanceis available to WCCC students for the 2015-16 academic year.
To apply for a scholarship, visit wccc.edu/scholarships. For the financial need-based scholarships, you’ll need tocomplete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form that is available at www.fafsa.edu.gov. Justreturn the form(s) to our financial aid office and they will contact you.

Scholarships and AwardsA primary mission of the WCCC Educational Foun-
dation is to support students. This commitment is evi-dent from the scholarships and awards listed withinthese pages. Criteria for the scholarships and awardsare established by donors, including board members,alumni, faculty, friends, corporations, foundations ororganizations.
While academic merit and financial need are theusual criteria for selecting scholarship recipients, otherfactors frequently considered are academic major, ge-ographic location or special circumstances, such as“women entering the workforce” or “past employeeof a local company.” All students are encouraged toreview eligibility requirements and to apply as directedin the following pages.
How to Apply for a ScholarshipStudents may inquire about scholarships at any
time but preference will be given to students whoapply for scholarships by April 1, unless an earlierdate is indicated. Generally, 50% of the scholarshipaward is credited to student accounts in the fall semes-ter and the remaining 50% of the award is credited tostudent accounts in the spring semester. The student’sprogress will be reviewed after each semester, and toretain the scholarship, he or she must maintain a min-imum of 2.0 GPA and 70% completion rate, unlessotherwise stated.

Additional information, including details re-garding scholarships that require separate application,is also available by visiting the WCCC website atwww.wccc.edu/scholarships. You can complete theScholarship Application Form and submit. As an al-ternative, paper applications can be picked up in theFinancial Aid Office, Founders Hall, Room 130. How to Establish a Scholarshipor Award for WCCC StudentsAnyone may establish a scholarship through a con-
tribution to the WCCC Educational Foundation.Three types of scholarship opportunities are available:one-time, annual and endowed.• A one-time scholarship is awarded one
time to a recipient for the dollar amount do-nated. There is no set dollar amount required.
• An annual scholarship is established whena donor agrees to make available a setamount of funds on an annual basis. Thescholarship is then awarded to a student eachyear for the established amount for as manyyears as the funding is available. There is noset dollar amount required.
• An endowed scholarship requires a mini-mum donation of $10,000 to be established.The interest generated on the original invest-ment is awarded to a WCCC student eachyear. The scholarship exists in perpetuity .
Scholarships may be named for the donor or as atribute to a loved one. All contributions are placedinto restricted accounts and are used exclusively forthe scholarship or award created by the donor. Schol-arships are credited to the recipients’ accounts for tu-ition or books.
