Experts in advanced engineering analysis, design, testing and research
Our services revolve around advanced numerical modelling and testing of complex
structural‐mechanical systems
Multiple Industries(Oil & Gas, Energy, Medical Devices, Manufacturing & Structural)
Working closely with manufacturers of alternative system products (e.g. Magma M‐pipe, Helipipe and Airborne TCP) to demonstrate performance, capability & capacity by analytical modelling (ABAQUS & FLEXCOM).
Development of analysis tools to demonstrate fitness for purpose of flexible pipe and umbilical cross sections particularly where extension of design life is required. Full cross section finite element analysis using ABAQUS.
ABAQUS finite element analysis of complex structural and mechanical systems for a wide range of industries.
Responsible for the full scale testing of various compliant piping systems subject to slug flow in Phases 1 and 2 of the SLARP JIP at SwRI (TX, US). Oversight of flexible pipe fretting‐wear testing at NUI Galway.
The WGK Technology Team works for major oil companies and product design companies.
Detailed FEA of multi‐layer helically wound un‐bonded composite pipe structures. Analysis include non‐linear behavior of polymer and steel layers. Failure modes, damage evolution and post‐collapse response are all captured.
Detailed local 3D cross‐section FEA of STU and thermoplastic umbilcals for fatigue assessments. We have successfully correlated local cross‐section response with test data and developed stress transfer tools to obtain local stresses from global fatigue analysis.
In Phases 2 and 3 of the SLARP JIP, we conducted full scale testing at the SwRI facility in San Antonio (TX, US) to validate numerical models for the prediction of structure response of compliant piping systems subject to slug flow.
We are currently working with researchers at NUI Galway to develop (through full scale testing) a fretting‐wear model to characterize flexible pipe pressure armour fatigue regimes. Findings will be used to determine design coefficients for use in our own cross section verification tools.
Radial deformation simulation for flexible pipe tensile armour wires using detailed local 3D FEA. Analysis includes the effects of high reverse end‐cap loading and cyclic bending on the armour wire response.
Detailed 3D non‐linear FEA of flowline lifting clamp. Analysis includes fastener pre‐tension and interaction between all components of the clamp and flowline end‐fitting.
Fracture mechanics crack growth calculations, using Paris Law method to complement SN fatigue data, for monitoring of pipeline and drilling components. 2D and 3D local FEA is used to calculate/validate fracture mechanics parameters.
WGK is a fully independent engineering consultancy that does not promote or benefit
