season.ThereigningPresidents’AthleticConferenceregularseasonchampionsareledbyseniorsoutfielderKaty Balko,outfielderErika Pamer,secondbasemanKelsey Squelch,andfirstbasemanLauren Stoczynski.
“Welostsignificantroleplayersinlastyear’sgraduatingclass,”said18th-yearheadcoachJan Reddinger.Buttoourbenefit,thisyear’sseniorshadimportantrolesinthesuccessthatwehadlastseason.Weexpectthemtonotonlychallengethemselvesbutalsotheirteammatesinordertohavecontinuedsuccess.Ihavenodoubtthattheywill.”
Squelch,anAll-PACSecondTeamhonoreetwoseasonsago,andStoczynskiarethereturningRBIleadersasSquelchhad13,whileStoczynskihad12in2013.BalkoandPamer,boththree-timeletterwinners,havecombinedtostartin133games.
TheTitansarereturningthreepitchersthathavegameexperience,ledbysophomoreAshley Smith whoappearedin16games(12starts)and
posteda7-5recordwithanearnedrunaverageof2.07.Smith’ssevencompletegamesand31strikeoutsweresecondontheteam.ClassmateAmber Forrest hadthelowestearnedrunaveragelastyear(withaminimumofeightappearances)witha1.24ERA.Forrestwent2-0onthemoundinnineappearances(fourstarts)togoalongwith22strikeouts.JuniorCarly Leffakis isthemostexperiencedpitcherontheTitansquadandwilllooktobetheleaderonthemoundthisyear.
SophomoresBrenna Guard,Kayla Kormanik,Alexis Sheffer,andSara Sieczkowskiallletteredtheirfirstyearandwillaimtomakeasignificantcontributionattheplateandonthefieldin2014.
“Rebuildingisnotatermthatcoachesliketouse,buttherealityisthatthisisayounguntestedteam,”addedReddinger.“Iamexcitedaboutthisyear’sfreshmenclass.Theywillbeexpectedtocontributeimmediatelyandwecertainlyfeelthattheyarereadytodojustthat.”
Despitelosingsixlettermen,includingfiveseniors,Reddingerishopefulforthisyear’steam.
“Theseniorsneedtocontinuetoimprove,astheyhaveeachyear,”saidReddinger.“Ourunderclassmenneedtofilltherolesvacatedbyourgraduatingseniors.Ifweeachdoourpart,Ibelievewewillbesuccessfulthisseason.“

ReddingerledWestminstertoitsfirstPresidents’AthleticConference(PAC)titlein2005,whilealsopilotingtheteamtopostseasonappearancesintheEastern
CollegeAthleticConference(ECAC)DivisionIIISouthChampionshipsin2005and2007.ReddingerwasalsonamedPACCoachoftheYearin2005andin2007.Mostrecently,theTitanswerecrownedthe2013PACRegularSeasonChampions.
InherfirstandsecondseasonsatthehelmofWestminstersoftballin1997and1998,ReddingerledtheTitanstotheirfifthandsixthstraightconference/districtcrowns,includingatriptotheNAIANortheastRegionalTournamentin1998.Reddinger’s2001teamalsoqualifiedfortheECACDivisionIIIplayoffsaftersettingteamrecordsforwins(32)andconsecutivewins(17)inaseasonwitha32-13record.
