COMPETITION CARBON TRACK AND TIME TRIAL

AGAINST THE CLOCKTime trials are often called the race of truth. Tiny, incremental differences in equipment can become magnified when racing against the clock. That’s why we developed the Opus One. The rider positioning and low-profile front end assure optimal aerodynamics. The airfoil tubes conform to new UCI stan-dards, and the broad bottom bracket and narrow head tube slice through the air. Finally, we’ve married the strength of T-700 carbon fibers with High Modulus M46J fibers to produce a frame that enhances power transfer, making every pedal stroke count.

The One is available as a frameset with fork, headset and seat clamp. It can be adapted to track or road time trials. Here’s a machine designed to absolutely annihilate the clock.

introduce the 2014 Allegro series. Based on our proven competition platform, these lighter and sleeker frames transmit more energy than ever.

With their new, tapered 1.5-inch head tube and 86.5mm bottom bracket, they’re also more supple and responsive than anything we have offered

previously. As a bonus, internal cable routing is now compatible with either a mechanical or an electronic drive train.

Whether you’re riding a gran fondo or just keeping fit, you’ll like the balance of performance, comfort and value in our Allegro and Alegria series.

COMFORT WITH AN EDGEThe tubing and design of our Sport Aluminum frames were

bred from the same stock as our high-end thoroughbreds. The tapered head tubes, oversized down tubes and bottom

brackets, and dropout designs all give a unique styling to Othello and Cantate bikes, producing top performance for a

quick spin or an epic ride.

The heart of our Sport series begins with triple-butted Meta 20 U571 tubes. Because comfort is important for short or long

haul riding, we’ve incorporated a 1.25-inch tapered head tube and fine-tuned the fork, chain stays and seat stays. Working in concert, these design features smooth out road imperfections

to deliver a near-perfect, fully controlled ride that everyone will enjoy.

fork, the Legato and Largo are sturdy and nimble.

Plus, we’ve given the 2014 Legato the power and dependability of disc brakes to handle every road no matter what the

weather brings.

The Largo is equipped with a 27-speed Shimano Sora drive train and a new rear rack. The Legato comes with an FSA triple

crankset and a 30-speed Shimano Tiagra drive train, along with fenders and a rear rack. On either bike, hills will seem

flatter and the road more comfortable, whether you’re going cross-town or across the country. Complete the package with

Mavic rims and Vittoria tires, and you’ll experience control, comfort and reliability over any road surface.

MULTI-TASKINGNew to our urban performance line, the Dual Sport is a true

hybrid. Taking inspiration from the recent emergence of 29er mountain bikes, these bikes live up to their name by being fast

and efficient on the city streets as well as nimble and fun on dirt paths and trails. With the rugged good looks of a mountain bike, they are equipped with powerful brakes, suspension forks

and riser bars. For extra speed, we’ve reduced the suspension travel and equipped them with narrower, more efficient tires

for a double dose of talent and versatility. Made from Meta 20 6061 aluminum triple-butted tubing, they are light, efficient,

tough and as much at home on wide city streets as on narrow country lanes. Double up on performance and fun!

We’ve also made comfort a priority in selecting the geometry; these bikes are surprisingly easy to handle as well as being agile in traffic, quick to stop and a snap to park. To raise the comfort level

even higher, we offer the Corso and Mondano with suspension forks as an option.

has truly come of age. Riders who couldn’t be bothered with maintenance and adjustments will love its sure and silent functionality. Simply twist the grip, and gears change with

seamless fluidity. There is never any lag time. And unlike the gear hubs of old, you don’t have to pedal backward or wish really hard to shift gears. You can even shift when starting

from a complete standstill.

MAINTENANCE MADE EASYThe precision-made internal gearbox is completely sealed

from the elements, so maintenance is minimal. How minimal? Every 2000 kilometres or so, your trusty bike mechanic pops

out the gear box, bathes it in oil, lets it drip dry and pops it back in. You’re good to go! Maintenance has never been easier.

A huge year is in store in 2014 for Opus mountain bikes, with the introduction of six new frames, a range of 27.5-inch bikes and awesome new graphics, specs and prices. We’ve been hard at work refining our mountain-biking offerings, and this year we have the most exciting and talented lineup ever!

Starting with our Prime 29ers, we offer a new carbon floating-shock design with 120mm of rear travel on the Prime LE and Prime 1, improving performance in both climbing and bombing down the mountain. The Avro 1.0 and 2.0 have revised specs for better value and performance, and we introduce the Avro 3.0 for an even more attractively priced model in this line. We’ve also brought back the Nelson, now in carbon and featuring new, 27.5-inch wheels. The Nelson is tougher and faster than ever, an ideal trail riding partner with 150mm of efficient, floating-shock suspension. The Flux and Strat each feature new frames with a 27.5-inch platform for big-wheel performance. The new Sonar 2.0 makes entry into the Opus MTB club easier than ever.

PRIME SERIESOur XC champions Prime LE and Prime 1 have all new, full carbon frames

featuring 120mm of plush and responsive travel. Our floating-shock design with a virtual pivot point ensures that they pedal uphill as efficiently as

possible, while providing maximum speed and control coming down. Notice the details, as well - internal cable routing preserves clean lines, and the tapered

head tube and X12 rear axle make the bikes as stiff and responsive as possible. The ISCG05 chain guide mounts add versatility, and the full complement of

sealed bearing pivots makes for smooth, long-lasting suspension performance. Combined with our light and efficient carbon frames we offer XTR and XO

drivetrains, carbon bars and seatposts and smart wheel choices to give you of some of the highest performance machines out there.

The Prime 2 and Prime 3 models stick with our proven Meta 30 triple-butted, superlight aluminum frames, featuring our floating shock suspension. The

advanced virtual pivot point design is magically plush and astonishingly efficient, and it keeps the suspension active during braking, too. A tapered head tube and hydroformed down tube and top tube make a stiff and light foundation

to go with a slick selection of components. Mountain-taming performance and stealthy good looks come together in one sizzling package.

FHAST SERIESThe Fhast just got faster. Our legendary carbon hardtail 29ers have been

completely reworked for 2014, with new frames that will exceed all expectations. Our full carbon monocoque frame is incredibly stiff and precise

with a tapered head tube and a 12x142 axle at the back. The carbon shaping and layup, along with the new 27.2 seatpost, mean that the ride will be

smoother than ever, allowing you to rip in comfort. We’ve added internal shift cable routing and beefy dropouts for the best shifting performance possible.

AVRO SERIESOur Avro series of aluminum 29er hardtails is more dialed-in than ever. We

start with our light and responsive Meta 30XC alloy frame that features hydroformed tubes, triple butting and a tapered head tube. We have re-worked the geometry to tweak all of the performance possible out of 29er wheels, and

we’ve included 100mm forks with lockout. We now offer the Avro in three levels, putting the series within reach of even more riders. Whether you are

looking to grab a podium spot in your local race or just out exploring the trails with friends, the Avro is just the ticket.

trail-riding, all-mountain hero. Lighter, faster and tougher than ever, the Nelson is made from high modulus carbon and features our floating shock suspension with 150mm travel and sealed bearing pivots. Its

tapered head tube, X12 rear axle and direct-mount front derailleur give it precision and performance; the ISCG-05 chain guide tabs and

We’ve embraced the newly popular, just-right 27.5-inch wheel size and re-worked our popular Flux and Strat to showcase the special talents

of 27.5 designs. We started with our Meta 20XC 6061 T6 alloy and created a pair of frames worthy of the Opus name. The triple-butted

and shaped frames are put together with 27.5-inch specific geometry and choice components, resulting in a line of bikes that ride well above

their price ranges. They all feature 100mm-travel forks with lockout and disc brakes to give you control and confidence, and the sharp new

graphics make sure that you get where you’re going in style. Join the 27.5 movement aboard an Opus Flux or Strat.

GREAT BIKES - NO KIDDINGThis year’s lineup of Opus Kids bikes shows, more than ever, our passion for building bikes for all riders. From the learn-to-balance Beebikes to the high-performance Fever, we’ve put together a complete collection of magnificent bikes for kids of every age. Because we are parents as well as bike fanatics, we’ve put safety and durability at the forefront in designing each bike to be easy, safe and fun. We want to start kids off with great bikes, encouraging them to share our passion.

For 2014, we’ve got it all: the race-ready Fever and Thunder; the fast, light and efficient Rambler, Doppler and Nix; the just-plain-fun Dash and Pixie. All of our bikes are designed and built with quality components and materials, simply because a nice bike is just more fun to ride. Quality brakes require less effort to stop and quality drive trains are easier to shift and pedal. This year’s cool colours and graphics will also make kids want to show off their bikes to their friends and ride more often. And with comfort and control, they’ll have their best rides ever.

OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHYWe design bikes for kids in the same way we approach the rest of our lineup. We start with the rider in mind, select the best frames, choose the best components and put together the safest and best-performing package possible. All of our kids’ bikes feature aluminum frames for light weight and durability. Our brakes are designed to have a light action and the proper reach for kids’ hands. We have optimized the standover height and geometry of all of our bikes to make them easy to control and fun to ride. Just because a bike is small doesn’t mean the performance has to be.

THE ABCS OF OPUS KIDS’ BIKESAluminum: Most other bike makers use steel frames and forks for their kids’ models. We like aluminum. Why? A lighter bike is easier for a kid to handle. It rides better, starts faster and, most important, it stops faster. Aluminum is also naturally corrosion-resistant, meaning that our bikes will last a long, long time. Durability is a simple concept that even a kid can understand.

Brakes: Remember coaster brakes? When you got older, you learned that hand brakes had better stopping power. So why make today’s kids wait? The sooner they get used to hand brakes, the more years of safe riding they’ll have. Even our run bikes have them!

Control: A lighter bike with powerful brakes is easier to control and therefore safer to ride. Our kids’ bikes even have a specially designed headset that resists fork spin. This means even better control and no jack-knifing.
