2014 MINISTRY PLAN
A NOTE FROM PASTOR DAVID 1
Dear Church Family,
Many of you may remember Long Hollow’s Crazy Love Campaign that began in 2009. It was a pivotal moment in the life of our church when we responded to God’s call to do church differently. Crazy Love became the new normal for Long Hollow and our approach to ministry after learning more about the state of the world around us; after learning 99% of entire countries – millions and millions of people – are lost, living with no hope; after seeing devastation in Haiti with our own eyes; after discovering how many children in our own community cycle in and out of foster care as their mothers face incarceration. We haven’t been the same since.
Can you still relate to the way that feels? We know from experience that the cost of awareness is often a total disruption of our ‘normal’ way of life.
At Long Hollow, as long as people are living in darkness and without hope around the world, we want to be disrupted. In fact, my prayer for us as a church in 2014 is that God would continue to shake up our way of life. I am praying He would fill our hearts with His love and passion to see the broken healed, the hungry fed, the captive freed, and the lost found. To that end, this book explains how in twelve months, with God’s help, we will...
… GO GLOBAL WITH THE GOSPEL … HELP THE HURTING … IMPACT THE NEXT GENERATION … GATHER FOR WORSHIP … DO LIFE TOGETHER … INCREASE OUR MINISTRY CAPACITY.
Nearly five years ago, Long Hollow accepted the challenge to begin doing crazy things to see God complete His crazy, amazing work. The year ahead of us is no different. Please take time to look through this book and prayerfully seek how God wants to disrupt your normal way of life in 2014 so He can do more than you can imagine with what you have to give.
I love you folks!
A NOTE FROMPASTOR DAVID
2014 MINISTRY PLAN2
Based on Jesus’ “Great Commandment” and “Great Commission,” we believe that our church exists to glorify God by leading people to
COME TO CHRIST IN WORSHIP...Whether it’s Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights or special events throughout the year, we strive to offer opportunities and environments for you to come to Christ in worship. “Come, let us worship... let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” – Psalm 95:6
...CONNECT WITH OTHER BELIEVERS IN FELLOWSHIP...We’re not meant to be alone. Become a member of our church body and make a commitment to do life together. “For the body is not one member, but many.” – 1 Corinthians 12:14
...GROW IN SPIRITUAL MATURITY THROUGH DISCIPLESHIP...At Long Hollow, we want you to grow in your relationship with God by growing in your relationships with others through Small Groups. “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men.” – Luke 2:52
...SERVE OTHERS THROUGH MINISTRY...God created each of us with different gifts and skills. Put them to good use by finding a place to serve in the church and in the community. “...through love, serve one another.” – Galatians 5:13
...AND GO REACH OTHERS THROUGH EVANGELISM.We believe that God has called us to spread the Good News in our community, throughout our nation and around the world. “Go and make disciples of all nations...” – Matthew 28:19

ABOUT LONG HOLLOW 3
LONG HOLLOW IS a community that desires to see lives changed by God’s love. In doing this, we have established 10 core values that we believe and seek to live by:
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

8)
9)
10)
10 CORE VALUES
We believe that JESUS IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH. Therefore, he tells Long Hollow what to do. We don’t tell him.
We believe THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD, and it is our sole authority for our faith and practice.
We are convinced THE ONLY WAY OF SALVATION is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
We are mindful that PEOPLE MATTER TO GOD. Therefore, they matter to us.
We are broken over the awareness that lost people go to Hell, so
WE WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to reach them with the message of the Gospel.
We will NEVER SETTLE FOR LOW IMPACT in our community.
We fear missed opportunities more than we fear failure. Therefore,
WE ARE NOT AFRAID TO TAKE RISKS.
We believe CHANGE IS GOOD AND NORMAL for a healthy church.
We are COMMITTED TO UNITY, understanding that the world knows we belong to Jesus because of the way we love each other.
We want to be and do all that we do as a church for the
GLORY OF GOD.
2014 MINISTRY PLAN4
BUILDING BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONSLong Hollow’s desire is for every person to become a fully devoted follower of Christ (learn more about what that means at longhollow.com/jesus). With that in mind, we’ve developed an intentional plan for the spiritual development of the family, all the way from birth through adulthood. A more detailed plan for each age-level will be available in early 2014.
PRESCHOOL: LEARN WHO GOD IS…The journey begins in our Preschool Ministry, where preschoolers encounter a safe, loving environment to learn who God is. Through alternating year-long emphases on the Old and New Testaments, our goal is for every child to encounter the full Bible twice before they enter elementary school!
WHAT WILL MY PRESCHOOLER LEARN?• 104 key Bible stories in biblical order• The Bible has many stories, but it’s a single story of God’s love for us• We continue to experience God’s story now, and are part of His great story to mankind
More details about our plan for your preschooler will be available in 2014 at longhollow.com/preschool.
CHILDREN: COME TO KNOW GOD...Building on the foundation from their Preschool years, LHKidz (our Children’s Ministry) offers high-energy environments and experiences for your children to come to know God and experience His love for them. Throughout their years in LHKidz, your child will experience the Bible three complete times through age-appropriate curriculum (K-1st, 2nd-3rd and 4th-5th).
WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN?• Biblical fundamentals and life application through monthly curriculum• A regular presentation of the Gospel with an opportunity to respond• Spiritual growth and biblical literacy is important for every Christian.
More details about our plan for your children will be available in 2014 at longhollow.com/children.

BUILDING BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS
STUDENTS: OWN YOUR FAITH…As children enter into their teens, Long Hollow’s Student Ministry is designed to help your student take ownership of their relationship with God and successfully launch into the challenges of adult life. Students are constantly engaged in topical Bible study and will dig in to a chronological study of the entire Bible twice throughout their Middle School and High School years.
WHAT WILL MY STUDENT LEARN?• God is real, and the Bible is relevant and trustworthy.• A framework of foundational truths including integrity, finances, theology and sexuality• The power of serving, giving, and sharing your faith
More details about our plan for students will be available in 2014 at longhollow.com/students.
ADULTS: GROW AND SHARE YOUR FAITH...The journey doesn’t end at adulthood! At Long Hollow, we challenge every adult to do life together with other believers in a Small Group. All of our groups spend time in God’s word through topical studies, church-wide emphases and more. Each group is challenged to study the Bible weekly, hang-out together monthly, and serve together quarterly.
WHAT DO ADULTS LEARN?• Fundamental life habits such personal Bible study, prayer, and evangelism• Biblical life application for marriage, finances, parenting and more• A deep exploration of theological truths, apologetics and biblical history
More details about our plan for adults will be available in 2014 at longhollow.com/adults.

Long Hollow continues to support church plants in Knoxville, Indianapolis and New York City. In Knoxville, Shoreline church reached a weekend attendance of 400 before their first anniversary in 2013. SOMA church in Indianapolis continues to grow with a weekly attendance of 200. Long Hollow members continue to play a major role planting churches with Gallery Church in New York City.

SUPPORTING INDIVIDUAL MISSIONARIES
OVER 3800 PEOPLE GROUPSOver the past year alone, two teams from Long Hollow visited our UUPG in North Africa. They continue to welcome us into their community with open arms. In fact, we’ve already been able to share the Gospel through one of these relationships (the very first time it has EVER been shared among this people)! God is opening doors, and we’re excited about the future.
in the world have no way to hear the Gospel; no believers, no Bible, no missionary, no church. God has led Long Hollow to embrace one of these unengaged, unreached people groups (UUPG) in North Africa. The exact UUPG is not publicized for security reasons, but more details will be made known when appropriate. Be praying about your own involvement in making the Good News of Jesus Christ known to these remote people.
WHAT’S A UUPG?Unengaged, Unreached People Group
Your giving provides financial support for over 17 missionary families across the globe. It makes it possible for the Gospel to spread across our nation, in countries where sharing your faith is outlawed, and in places overcome with poverty, disease, and hunger. These pastors and missionaries are deeply grateful for our continued support.

GIVE DIFFERENTLY
#1MAKE GENEROSITY
A PRIORITYIf giving/tithing is not a part of your current budget, make it a priority to give to the church first. Some people use scheduled reminders on payday; others auto-draft their offering with each paycheck.
DO WITHOUT/DO WITH LESS
Consider brown-bagging your lunch for a while. Skip the season tickets and catch a few games on TV. Opt for a 7 day adventure instead of the 10 day excursion.
CONSIDER ASSETS
Consider donating land, a house, a car, jewelry, stocks, etc. Perhaps you could have a yard sale and donate the profits.

As a church, we’re aware that there are hurting and helpless people all around us. There are great needs in our city. There are millions around the world lost and dying without Christ. We are rescued, and we have been given much... Each of us should prayerfully consider how to respond.
“When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even ...more will be required.” - Luke 12:48In 2014, make it a goal to step out in faith and take the next step in your giving. Maybe that means giving for the first time... Maybe that means giving differently. Whatever the step is for you, we believe that God wants to move each of our hearts to respond generously.
Find where you are on the chart (your annual income and current giving). Move to the right to determine how much you are willing to increase your monthly giving.

PLAN YOUR LEGACYDid you know that over 70% of Americans do not have an up-to-date will or estate plan? This means that the vast majority of Americans do not have a will or trust that matches their current goals with their estate plan. If you already have a plan, does it take into account the most recent tax laws?
Long Hollow has partnered with Fulcrum to create “My Legacy Planner,” a tool that will allow you to assess your current will and also provide you with a thoughtful framework as you prepare to meet with your attorney or financial advisor.
My Legacy Planner is secure, confidential, and completely free to the Long Hollow community.
