Alma MaterMedford High School we salute thee, Much we owe thy sacred halls.Tender moments-hard fought victories. All were ours within thy walls. So our colors we will raise, Proud we are to sing thy praise.Raise our voices in thanksgiving, Alma Mater - Medford High

Raider Fight SongFight on Medford Senior High with all your might, Fight on & win this game for Red & White. We’re going to back you up with cheers & yells. We’re going to cheer & cheer & yell & yell & yell. We’re going to raise our voices to the sky. You know we’re all a part of Medford High.So team let’s play this game for Red & White. Fight tonight! Go, Medford, Fight!

The Star Spangled BannerOh! Say can you see, by the dawns early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?Whose broad strips and bright stars thro’ the perilous fight, O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof thro’ the night that our flag was still there.Oh’ say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave? - Francis Scott Key

COACHES COMMENTSThe Medford Baseball team is excited to get going and get on the field this spring.

We have 7 starters who had a lot of Varsity experience to replace this year. The goal for this year’s team will be to improve every game and be playing our best baseball come June. We have 3 returning players who received all-conference awards. Brad Acker was a first team all-conference selection last year in the outfield and will play infield and outfield for us this year. Sam Sawdey was a 2nd team all-conference outfielder in 2013. Alan Schumacher will be the ace on the mound, coming off an undefeated conference season last year, that helped earn him an Honorable Mention all-conference award. Those three players will help guide the other players early in the season.

Our schedule as always is a tough one. Our conference will be very difficult as always. Defending Champion, Antigo, brings back most of their starters, as does runner-up Tomahawk. Mosinee, Lakeland, Rhinelander, and Northland Pines will all be a tough game each time out. Our regional will be very competitive as well. Our goal is to win conference and regionals. The boys know that if we can make a Sectional run, anything can happen!

Our JV1 and JV2 teams have been working hard and will be very competitive this year as well. Come on out and support your Raider Baseball teams this spring! GO RAIDERS!!

COACHES COMMENTSWe are a very young team again; however, we have seven players returning with varsity experience. Our junior class will have to provide great leadership for our younger players, as there are no seniors on the team. In the conference, Rhinelander will be the team to beat after finishing second last year and returning all but two players.Sammy Payne (Jr.) will be transitioning from playing doubles to the #1 singles position this year. Filling the next two singles spots will be Ryan Neubauer (Jr.) and Ty Wrage (So.). These three singles players have improved tremendously and will be tough matches for anyone they play. The last singles position will be decided in the first few weeks of practices. Alex Zick (Fr.) and Josh Brooks (Fr.) have looked like the early favorites to earn this position. In doubles, we will be having three new pairs of players. At #1 will be John Shear (Jr.) and Dillon Brost (Jr.). Both played on different varsity doubles teams last year and will join forces this year. Our other doubles teams will likely be Douglas Schumacher (So.) and David Silva (So.), along with Joe Phillips (So.) and Taylor Dunlap (So.). With limited experience playing together, all of our doubles teams will have to work hard and learn to play together throughout the season. With a great group of student-athletes and a tremendous work ethic, this year will be very successful and enjoyable. We hope to see you at the tennis courts this spring!

The team will be led by seniors Joey Leonard, Jake Lueck, Austin Salzgeber, Brett Ulrich, Brent Yaron and Justin Yaron. COACHES COMMENTSAs always, I’m excited to get another softball season

underway. Coming off a 2013 season that ended at 12-8 with several close losses, we have high expectations for the upcoming season. With Mother Nature not cooperating this spring, our trip to Florida came at a great time. Not only did the games in Cocoa Beach give us a big jump on the season it really helped us see where the girls have improved or still need some work.

Key losses from our 2013 team are: All conference catcher Tori Walsh, 2nd team 1st baseman Kylie Christianson, and 2nd team pitcher Sadie Dassow. Although we will have some holes to fill, we feel we have a strong nucleus coming back, with many girls able to play multiple positions. Key returning players with varsity experience: Seniors: Justine Sova, Shealyn Strebig, Marlana Lammar. Juniors: Kayla Hartl, Marissa Laher, and Alyssa Loertscher. Sophomores: Sydney Elsner, Jenice Clausnitzer, and Kaitlin Walsh. Others looking to fill a spot are: Seniors Abby Olson and Hanna Dietzman. Sophomores Morgan Dutzle, Chelsea Rausch, Paige Olson. Freshmen Victoria Lammar and Maggie Butkus.

If we have people step up and fill some openings, we feel we can be strong in all three phases of the game offense, defense and pitching. If things come together, this team should be very competitive and fun to watch this spring.

TENNIS COACH: Head coach Jake Bucki
