Step 2: Bring the tie strap from under the girth to the top of the other dee and loop through

Step 3: Bring the tie strap from the dee down to the girth; put behind the pulled through tie strap already there; pull snug

Step 4: Use the girth buckle to fasten the tie strap from loosening. Bring any excess tie strap up to the tie catcher. Done! Be sure to rig your horse the same on both sides.

Rigging with Angled ReAR dee

Step 1: Bring the tie strap attached to the dee down to the girth and loop through girth from the inside out

Step 2: Bring tie strap up and loop again over the dee; bring back down through girth putting tie strap behind the other; pull snug

Step 3: Bring the tie strap up to the angled rear dee and loop through from the outside

Step 4: Bring the tie strap back down to the girth and fasten. Bring excess tie strap up to the tie catcher. Done! Be sure to rig your horse the same on both sides.

Combines the features of a standard western dee rig with the opportunity to change the position of the rigging to a Full, ¾, or ⅞ by merely changing the use of the tie strap. Note: Saddle should be rigged the same on both sides.

Frank and Dawn Thompson, along with their two children, live east of Cheyenne where Frank is in the cattle and horse business. In 2012, he became the Cheyenne Frontier Days Arena Director. Thompson made a career of rodeo for more than 20 years and is a four-time Wrangler National Finals qualifier. In 2000, Frank won the World Championship in Steer Wrestling. Frank retired from full-time competition in 2005 and now works full-time selling and buying cattle and horses. “I had a Circle Y as a kid and I’m glad to be back in one.
