Dr. Lisa S. Coico is the 12th President of The City College of New York and the first City University
of New York graduate to lead City College. Since joining City College in 2010, Dr. Coico has
overseen a resurgence in academic excellence, student engagement and faculty enhancement
for the benefit of its diverse student population. Through a comprehensive program emanating
from her vast experience and embracing the input of students, staff, faculty, alumni, community
leaders, and others, President Coico has significantly upgraded the quality of the academic
experience and student life as a whole at City College.
Major research projects throughout the STEM areas have been nurtured and increased academic emphasis on the
extensive undergraduate and graduate offerings in liberal arts have attracted an increasingly high quality of
students and faculty alike.
Juana Reina's work is distinguished by more than 30 years of experience as a senior student
affairs officer in various higher education sectors including allied health, four‐year public and
private colleges, community colleges and the ivy leagues. Her work is informed by over 25 years
of service to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, where she is an accreditation
evaluator for all aspects of student affairs at both two and four year institutions.
At City College, Vice President Reina has reorganized the Division of Student Affairs and has
worked with talented colleagues and students to create programs aimed at fostering the professional development
of the whole student, providing holistic support for student wellbeing in challenging times, and at increasing
engagement among students, their families, staff and faculty. The work of the Division is based on a commitment
to the idea that experiences outside the classroom are valuable opportunities for learning, personal and
professional growth that can aid retention and foster academic success.
As the Athletic Director at City College, Meadow has instituted a “One Team, One Dream”
mantra, which quickly became a philosophy amongst the 250+ student‐athletes across 17
athletics teams. Her dedication to teaching teamwork, camaraderie, and life‐skills has resulted
in her creation of several successful support services at City College including an extremely
successful “Bounce‐Back” Retention Program and “G.A.M.E.S.” (Giving Athletes Motivation
through Educational Services) workshops. Under her guidance the Student Athletic Advisory
Committee at CCNY has begun to flourish, bringing about many exciting and instrumental
changes to the City College campus and community.
Meadow’s goal of “developing the student‐athlete as a total person, enhancing their well‐being and empowering
them to be leaders in life”, is reflected in the Coaches and Captains Retreats that she started in 2009. The athletic
facilities on campus have also seen improvement under Meadow, with newly renovated locker rooms and a new
hardwood floor that has become the home of the CUNYAC / Con‐Ed Basketball Championships.

hall on the campus of The City College of New York (CCNY).

Baseball Program Overview and Highlights
The City College of New York baseball team is looking to take a big step forward this year
under Head coach Steve Macias. Returning veterans Mike Smith, Phil Martino and
Emmanuel Nwokelo will form the core of the Beaver lineup, with several incoming
rookies expected to have an immediate impact. The Beavers have one CUNYAC
championship in their history, and are looking to build the foundation to win another.

Men’s Soccer Program Overview and Highlights
The City College of New York men’s soccer team have won 12 CUNYAC championships
over the course of their history, and regularly found among the most competitive teams
in the conference. Head coach Roberto Ignaccolo’s Beavers are a global program, with
more than half the players drawn from foreign countries. The 2013 season saw the team
make it all the way to the conference finals, losing a 1‐0 heart breaker in overtime to
Baruch College. Freshman goalkeeper Maxwell Berkow sparked this thrilling run, earning
CUNYAC rookie of the year honors and twice receiving ECAC weekly awards.
Head Men’s Soccer Coach: Roberto Ignaccolo
Recently completed his 7th season as head men’s
soccer coach and academic coordinator. Since
joining the Beavers in 2007, Ignaccolo has coached
several City University of New York Athletic
Conference All‐Stars and Player of the Years.
Ignaccolo brings over 20 years of soccer
experience to the CCNY Men's Program and puts
an emphasis on being a complete student‐athlete.

Women’s Soccer Program Overview and Highlights
Under Head coach Don Manfria, the women’s soccer team of the City College of New
York has become a perennial contender in the CUNYAC, winning championships in 2009
and 2012. In 2012, they posted a school record for wins (16), shutouts (14) and goals
(69) and competed in the NCAA National Tournament. The Beavers reached the
semifinals in 2013, led by senior defender Heather Ruger and senior goalkeeper and
ECAC Metro All‐Star Nicole Carroll. With a core of young, talented players, the future of
the program continues to look bright.
Head Women’s Soccer Coach: Don Manfria
Recently completed his 5th season as head
women’s soccer coach and is currently in his first
season as the equipment manager and
concessions supervisor at CCNY. Manfria earned
his first ever CUNYAC Coach of the Year honors after a
record setting 2012 season that saw the Beavers set
new school records in wins, goals, shutouts and assists.

Men’s Track and Field Program Overview and Highlights
The City College of New York men’s track and field programs have been dominant during
both the indoor and outdoor seasons for many years, winning a combined eight CUNYAC
championships since 2002, with five of those coming under Head coach Hugh Reid. In
2013, Thierry Diessongo earned USTFCCCA Division III Indoor Track and Field Regional
Athlete of the Year recognition, winning CUNYAC Athlete of the Year honors and
finishing fourth in the NCAA National Championships. Diessongo’s epic year helped spark
the Beavers to their third consecutive indoor CUNYAC championship.
Head Men’s and Women’s Coach: Hugh Reid
Hugh Reid has served as head coach of the City College of New York track and field program and cross‐country teams since the fall of 2010. CCNY’s track and field program has been the cream of the CUNYAC since Reid’s arrival, winning the men’s indoor and outdoor conference championships three times each (2011, 2012, 2013) while securing the women’s indoor conference championship in 2011 and 2013 and outdoor championship in 2011.

Women’s Track and Field Program Overview and Highlights
The women’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams of the City College of New York
have won eight combined CUNYAC Championships since 1996, most recently claiming
the indoor season title in 2011 and 2013 under Head coach Hugh Reid and coming in
second in 2012. The 2013‐14 teams will feature a young but highly talented core group,
highlighted by sophomores Zulena Saravia and Leandra Haynes and freshmen Maryellen
Dankenbrink and Ashley Beaver.
Assistant Coach: Mark Hurst
Mark Hurst has been an assistant coach of the City College of New York track and field and cross‐country teams since the Fall of 2009. In that time, Hurst has helped develop three All‐Americans, along with a multitude of CUNYAC and CTC champions. Prior to coming the CCNY, Hurst was an assistant coach at Hunter College, where he helped train several conference all‐stars.

Men’s Cross Country Program Overview and Highlights
The City College of New York men’s cross country team won their sole CUNYAC
championship in 1994, and they are in the hunt for a second under Head Coach Hugh
Reid. 2013 saw the Beavers finish in fifth place within the conference, led by David Coba
and Fernando Meza, who both earned conference all‐star recognition. In addition,
Janssel Nunez represented CCNY both on and off the course, winning the 2013 CUNYAC
Sportsmanship award. The program took a major step forward in 2013, hosting their
first home meet, the CCNY Cross‐Country Invitational, in October.
Women’s Cross Country Program Overview and Highlights
The women’s cross country team of the City College of New York is in pursuit of their
first conference champion ship, under the guiding hand of Head Coach Hugh Reid.
Zulena Saravia earned CUNYAC all‐star honors, leading the Beavers to a fifth‐place finish
at the conference championships. Christin Hu also won the CUNYAC Sportsmanship
award, for her leadership and dedication. The program took a major step forward in
2013, hosting their first home meet, the CCNY Cross‐Country Invitational, in October.

Men’s Volleyball Program Overview and Highlights
Entering their first season under Head coach Daniel Crespo, the City College of New York
men’s volleyball team is looking to take a major step forward. Three times the program
has hoisted the CUNYAC championship, and many eyes will be on a core group of
returning players led by senior outside hitter Jose Castillo.
Head Men’s and Women’s Coach: Daniel Crespo
Daniel Crespo was named associate head coach of CCNY’s women’s and men’s volleyball programs in the summer of 2013. In just his first season coaching the women’s team, Crespo helped develop Leticia Marotti into the CUNYAC Player of the Year. Crespo has many years of coaching experience, ranging from Montclair State University ('93‐'94), to the University of Georgia (Club, '01‐'02), to the University of North Florida ('03‐'04) and New Jersey City University ('05 and '06).

Women’s Volleyball Program Overview and Highlights
The women’s volleyball team of the City College of New York enjoyed several successes
in their first season under coaches Daniel Crespo and Taisiya Zuyeva. Junior transfer
Leticia Marotti was named CUNYAC Player of the Year and the Beavers finished in fifth
place. CCNY has won four CUNYAC championships, the most recent coming in 2009.
Assistant Women’s Coach: Taisiya Zuyeva
Taya Zuyeva most recently coached at Medgar Evers College, where she was the youngest head coach in school history. Zuyeva graduated from CCNY in 2009, having been a three‐year starter for the Beavers. Zuyeva was a CUNYAC all‐star in 2008 and 2009, helping lead City College to the conference championship.

Men’s Tennis Program Overview and Highlights
The City College of New York men’s tennis team is looking forward to their first season
under Head coach Eric Stone. Still looking for their first CUNYAC championship, the
Beavers finished sixth last season behind David Arroyave, who last season won
conference Rookie of the Year honors.
Head Men’s and Women’s Coach: Eric Stone
Coach Eric Stone began coaching the CCNY men’s and
women’s teams in the Fall of 2013. As a junior in high
school, Stone was ranked among the nation's top 100,
receiving a tennis scholarship to the University of Hawaii, a
powerhouse in Division I. There, he competed at number
three singles and number one doubles. Stone finished his
college playing career at CCNY where he went undefeated at
number one singles and doubles, winning the CUNY
Championship and receiving conference MVP honors. In 2010,
Stone was hired as a master professional at the prestigious John
McEnroe Tennis Academy on Randall's Island.

Women’s Tennis Program Overview and Highlights
The women’s tennis team of the City College of New York enjoyed a strong first season
under Head coach Eric Stone, earning the fifth seed in the CUNYAC championship
tournament. Andriana Aivazians, the Beavers’ number one singles and doubles player,
earned conference all‐star honors in just her first year with CCNY.

Men’s Basketball Program Overview and Highlights
The City College of New York men’s basketball team has a long and storied history,
culminating in the 1950 squad winning both the NCAA and NIT National Championships,
the only team to accomplish that feat. Veteran head coach Tom Green took over the
program in 2011, improving the Beavers’ final record by eight wins in his second season.
With over thirty years of coaching experience, Green is poised to return the Beavers to
prominence. The 2013‐14 team is led by returning junior forward and leading scorer
Anthony Lewis (16.1 points, 6.8 rebounds in 2012‐13) and junior forward and team
captain Jordan Ortega (8.5 points, 5.5 rebounds in 2012‐13).
Head Men’s Basketball Coach: Tom Green
Green’s resume includes a long list of
accomplishments, primarily from his time as the head
coach at Farleigh Dickinson University. There, he
served as the head coach for 26 years, and became the
winningest coach in the conference and institution’s
history. He produced seven 20‐win seasons at FDU
and took his team to four NCAA Division I National
Tournaments.

Women’s Basketball Program Overview and Highlights
The women’s basketball team of the City College of New York has won ten CUNYAC
conference championships and under head coach and Director of Athletics Jackee
Meadow are looking to return to that championship form. Entering the 2013‐14 season,
the Beavers are led by sophomore forward Bria Fisher (11.5 points, 9.0 rebounds in
2012‐13), senior forward Syreeta Williams (10.0 points, 6.9 rebounds in 2012‐13) and
sophomore center and team captain Giovanna Blanco (5.3 points, 7.5 rebounds
in 2012‐13).
Head Women’s Basketball Coach: Jackee Meadow
In 13 years as the head coach at Hunter College,
Meadow won eight regular season league titles,
five conference championships, four NCAA
Tournament appearances, and two ECAC bids.
She is the winningest women’s basketball coach in
Hunter school history, as well as the first coach to
lead them to a bid in the NCAA Division 3 Tourney.

Co‐ed Lacrosse Program Overview and Highlights
The City College of New York men’s lacrosse program continues to rebuild under Head
coach William Tucker. The Beavers are looking to take a step forward this year, with a
new recruiting class, a harder schedule and exceptional coaching. The Beavers play a
very demanding schedule each season against the likes of Division I clubs Columbia
University, Hofstra University, Sacred Heart University and Stony Brook University.

William Tucker was named head coach of the City College of New York lacrosse team in the spring of 2013. Tucker has undertaken the challenge of rebuilding the CCNY lacrosse program from the ground up, after being inactive for several years.

Women’s Fencing Program Overview and Highlights
The women’s fencing team of the City College of New York has entrenched itself as one of
the strongest programs both in the EWFC and in the region. Under Head coach Paul Yuen,
the Beavers have qualified for the NCAA Regionals. Three straight times, CCNY has been
honored with the EWFC Roi Green Spirit Sportsmanship Award (2010, 2011, 2012) and
twice Yuen and his staff have been recognized as EWFC Coaching Staff of the Year. CCNY
fencers are a mainstay on the annual list of EWFC All‐Conference honorees.
Head Women’s Fencing Coach: Paul Yuen
Paul Yuen has been the head coach of the City College of New York women’s fencing team since the 2006‐2007 season, having served as the assistant coach for two years prior. Under Yuen’s leadership, the Beavers have been one of the premier programs in Division III women’s fencing, qualifying for the NCAA Regionals every season he’s been with the program. Yuen is a graduate of CCNY, where he competed with the men’s fencing team, earning the most outstanding fencer of the year award in 1994.
